“Great Week in Mauritius¡”
excellent service and spacious hotel, swimming pools and fancy restaurants, highly recommended
“Hugely disappointed.”
Hugely disappointed with this hotel. No atmosphere or energy. The prices of food, drink and internet were excessively high.Outside the confines of the hotel its rural India. The roads are narrow and don't have pavements. There are no locasl bars or restaurants so you're trapped in the hotel, they know this and so charge rediculous prices for everything. The buffet after a few nights becomes an upmarket cafeteria,a la carte has high supplements. For a 5 star hotel it leaves a lot to be desired. There are only a few rooms that have sea views.Don't get taken in by the large discounts being offed by this hotel because you'll end up paying through the nose once you're there.
“True 5* hotel!”
Hotel is great, a true 5-star hotel. All you would expect to be in it due to it's status - you'll find it there. We lived in a Great Terrace room - it's realy a great advantage so I strongly recommend to pay some extra for that. Free water sports, free tennis courts - wery convenient and positive. Comfort in the beach area is fantastic.... but - untill you get in the water - no depth and lots of corals all around the place makes it almost impossiblr to swim around - so we had to take taxi to Trua Bich every time we wanted to have a proper swimming. I strongly recoment this great hotel -especially if you preffer a pool to an open sea.
“Beautiful hotel”
The Grand Mauritian was really a beautiful hotel. The main swimming pool was stunning, + all the decor, layout, artwork was in exceptionally good taste. The service was excellent + staff very friendly. The beach really nice + always clean. Our room despite not been the top grade room was awesome, really gorgeous + probably the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in despite us having a super king size Jonelle bed at home. The only down sides were: the food/ drinks were expensive. We got quite a shock the first day when we shared lunch having 1 portion of chicken and chips, bottle of water + 1 tea and it came to £20.40! We chose b + b as we hired a car + wanted to try local restaurants. Eating in the hotel is 35 Euros each (almost £35 at the moment for us) for the buffet which we chose not to! The Brezza Italian restaurant is lovely + food excellent. We had a few lovely meals there although on the last night we splashed out + had dessert so 2 mains, 2 desserts, a bottle of water and a tea came to a cool £63. We didn't put on much weight on this holiday! Location wise if you don't hire a car or go on trips you might feel a bit stuck in the hotel. Its about 20 minutes from hot spot Grand Bay which we thought was a bit of a dump. Free watersports was great fun. The hotel was probably less than half full meaning never having to wait + it was really calm + tranquil. We had a lovely time. We checked out a 4* hotel driving back to airport to compare + the GM was in another league.
“Best hotel RECOMMEND”
all perfect !!!
“i wish I could go there again soon!”
The hotel was the best I've ever been to (having travelled the world!). Everything about it was perfect, from the architecture to the great attention given to any litlle detail that would make life so much nicer. It has the best pool, the best spa, our room was amazing, the staff are all welcoming without being intrusive - perfect beyond words.
“Mauritius”
Our family's overall experience was highly satisfying and after 12 days at the Grand Mauritian, we would definitely consider a return. The kids "Explorers' Club" was used and enjoyed by our 5 and 8 yr olds. The spa was outstanding - very high level of customer service and beautiful surroundings. Therapists were very professional; the spa rooms were comfortable and decorated beautifully. Balinese treatments were fantastic!! Our family room was spacious, clean and comfortable, with a little nook for the children's beds. The friendliness of the restaurant staff in the main hotel is to be commended. My ONLY caveat about this stay was that when room occupancy shot up quickly and the restaurants got busier, the quality of service dropped dramatically and became far too slow. Had this been our experience for the entire vacation, I'm sure it would have coloured our view of the resort significantly.
“Bad Service”
There were so many issued with the level of service at this resort that I can only mention the top few and they are as follows: 1) Pls see issue on check in above 2) We asked a few times for the mini bar in the room to be re-stocked - it was not full when we arrived and we had consumed some of its contents. I fact, my boyfriend was in the room with the cleaners when they called the front desk requesting this, along with replacement robes which were collected with the towels. Neither request was fulfilled while we were in the resort. 3) We had to ask the staff for our orders of drinks by the pool many times and wait a long time for their arrival. This was also the case during dinner when asking for simple things such as butter. 4) As we complained to the deputy manager at the resort, he attempted to compensate us for some of the above issues by sending us bottle of champagne to the room. We found this out when we were checking out as the bottle never arrived (to his surprise). 5) Finally, we requested a wake up call on the day of our return flight that never came! Luckily, we set up our own alarm as well. While it claims to be a 5* luxury resort, the standards of service in this resort were so far below 5* that we were appalled.
“Lovely but isolated”
This is abeautiful hotel in a lovely location but be aware that you need a taxi to access the nearest towns of Grand Baie and Port Louis. There are no shops or restaurants within walking distance of the hotel. Taking a taxi or eating in the hotel are expensive options. The hotel restaurants are top quality but you need deep pockets.Otherwise everything brilliant. Make sure your holiday includes the breakfast.
“Traumurlaub”
In max.
