“will NEVER go back”

The hotel is pretty to look at but the service is slow and the staff is lazy, unresponsive and unfriendly. We had to ask 5 times and wait 2 days for a hair drier. I got sick, had a very high fever and given the fact that I was also 6 months pregnant we had quite a scare. It was crucial that we kept the fever under control because of the pregnancy but we didn't have a thermometer, the reception provided one that didn't turn on at all, when we asked for a doctor they told us we had to wait for the following day, in short they couldn't care less. Shuttle service to the nearest supermarket is provided with a $6 charge per person (my 2 year old daughter had to pay full price too). We were told that the service would be from hotel to supermarket and return. But the driver left us nearby the supermarket (stating it was closer that way even though the closest thing to the supermarket was obviously the parking lot in front of it) we had to go through an alley of little shops and cross a two way road to get there. IN order to have the ride back the driver told us we had to go to the Ocean club west resort which is a few blocks away from the supermarket. This meant having to walk with a 2 year old and the grocery bags and having to take cover from a 10 minute rain storm hoping the groceries wouldn't go bad before being able to reach this other hotel all for the "convenient" price of $18!! The only thing worth going there for is grace bay beach!! All considered I would NEVER go back!!

“Ocean Club”

Our Ocean Club condo was very roomy with lots of storage space. The down side, fighting off small ants & uncomfortable king size mattress & wicker furniture. Location was good, quiet with a beautiful beach, drinks & food at Cabana bar & grill good but pricey.

Dining
Recommended dinning option are Da Conch Shack, Tiki Hut & Danny Buoys

“A/C barely working in tropical temperatures”

The hot water boiler kept running all night long making falling asleep a difficult thing, and with the air conditioning not working very well the comfort of the room became questionable. If it wasn't for the above, everything else was very good.

“Beach is Great, Service at the west wing is horrible!!!!”

The receptionist had the worst attitude at the west wing of ocean club resort, our room had a musty smell and the air-condition was not working, when we asked when it would because it was almost over 95 degrees, she kept on saying half hour and when we asked to be moved in a different room they claimed they had no rooms available (which was clearly not true at alllll), i even asked to be transferred to bigger room and we would pay the difference and they claimed that they were all booked....again not true, then somehow through a miracle she found a room after speaking to her manager but I had to call Expedia since I booked with them to inform them I have to change rooms?!!. Until we went to the East wing and spoke to a nicer receptionist there that tried to find us a room (which was much nicer anyways) did we move, this process wasted 7 hours of our first day until we got a room (we were staying for only 3 days, so this ruined our first day). On our last day the air-condition was not working again (in the new room) but they did fix it very quick. We still had to pay the difference even though the original room's air-condition could not be fixed until the next day....Service was not up to par at all. The beach however, was amazing. Would love to go back to Turks but different hotel.

Dining
Cacios Cafe is the best, great food.

“Nice hotel, good value”

The hotel was fine. Service was okay, twice I called to have issues with the room resolved (faulty appliances in the kitchen and the shower didn't work) and they never showed to the room after I called and they said someone was being sent up. Overall, nice hotel, nothing spectacular, obvious upgrades to umbrellas and chairs needed but for the price and location on the beach, suited me just fine.

“Wonderful and airy”

Beautiful room looking out on the garden and the pool. We kept the 2 big sliding glass doors open (2 of 3 panels in each open up) and the louvers in the front door for a beautiful summer breeze. No need for air conditioning. Food is expensive on the island but this hotel has kitchens in each 'condo' and barbeque grills (nice ones) out by the pools. We took the free shuttle to Ocean Resort West and then walked across the street to the grocery store - still expensive but better than paying high restaurant prices. We travelled with 2 teenagers. They found friends at the resort. We rented a 2 person kayak right on the beach (charge to room) and went out on a snorkling trip. 5 nights was long enough. If we were there longer we probably would have preferred to have a car. There were free bikes and the kids rode them to the stores/shops one afternoon.

Area recommendations
We stayed at Ocean Club Resort which has 2 pools. The other sister resort is Ocean Club West. That location is closer to shops and the grocery. But with the free shuttle, either is fine.
What to pack
Hat! Snorkling equipment - cheaper to buy here (try Target!). Because we did a lot of cooking we which had brought spices, salt, and other staples. We didn't have to pay for our checked suitcases so we took some food but could have brought more.
Family-friendly activities
Snorkling and conch hunting/picking with Caicos Dream Tours was fun (but expensive). There is a hut on the beach for renting motor boats, stand-up paddle boards, kayaks, and other water activities. There is a dive shop at the hotel. Resort lessons are available right in the pool. Bikes are available on a first-come, first serve basis. DVDs are in the lobby which can be borrowed for free. Tennis rackets are also available to use. Pack your own snorkle equipment for snorkling at the resort beach. Snorkle tours provide the equipment.

“Great bartenders!!”

The hotel itself was older, not much to do in the immediate area. Opus Restaurant was on site and it is an awesome place to eat! Expensive, but worth it!! The bartenders in our hotel, namely Kathryn and Vegas, were a big factor in the rating of this hotel!!

Area recommendations
Rent a car and drive the whole island. Beautiful houses, secluded beaches.
Dining
Opus Restaurant is a must!!

“Great place to chill out”

This resort was perfect for us (couple - no kids). There were a ton of beach chairs, umbrellas, and the bar/restaurant was great. The staff was super friendly and everything was really clean. The grounds were amazing and really relaxed. We had king bed with a lanai which was so amazing - perfect. The pools were really nice too. The front desk set up a rental car for us and made everything easy. There was a flat screen in the room and a big kitchen. The speakers on the flat screen were going out a little bit but not a big deal. I loved the 'Brown Lady' frozen drink at the beach bar! Opus was great too. Great Rum menu. Everyone was so nice and cool. The best part is that this place is down at the end of the beach so you feel like you have a lot more space and privacy than being packed in with all the other hotels. Taking a walk at sunset is the best. The distance was no issue as there is a free taxi between Ocean Club East and Ocean Club West. Our goal was to find a place without too many kids and this place was a nice balance.. some families/lots of couples. There was no jacuzzi there but that wasn't really a problem cause its so warm there you feel more like jumping in the pool anyways..Love this place. We rented a car a couple days only over the course of our 7 day stay.
