I have stayed at several properties on the beach.. but The Beach Tulum is definitely on the top of my list. The service is impeccable with super friendly staff.. Shout out to Greg (beach server), Erick (restaurant manager), Barbara (lobby bartender) and Sylvia (front desk). They were not only super accommodating but really helped to enhance our stay at Beach Tulum. Highly recommend!!

"great place, great restauraunt, great neighborhood"
Wife and I stayed at Zamas one week in February. The cabana we were in was perfect for us - very few distractions (no internet, thank goodness). The bed had nettting all around to protect from mosquitos (there were a few bites on the calm nights, but it was windy most of the time and very few bugs in general). Our room was big and airy, but it is not like a hotel, more like a cabin - low light levels, and lots of wind blowing through. They cleaned our room every day, which was nice (lots of sand). Two nice hammocks on the porch. The beach there is great, though beaches down the road were nicer, and had better snorkeling. That being said, I would come to this location again. The restaurant at Zamas was great, and had bands almost every night. All the nearby restaurants were also just excellent. We had the most outstanding seafood at these places. The neighborhood was totally safe. Iguanas EVERYWHERE. LOVED it.

This was our first trip to Mexico and we had a great time!
Francesca and Roberto are fantastic people and gave us a lot of helpful info. English is not their first language as they are Italian, but Francesca did a great job :-)
Their staff Jose and Aurora were always friendly and kept the place running well. Our room was cleaned every day and the air conditioning worked 100% (We went when it was 34degrees and 100% humidity lol)
It's a few minutes out of town but a taxi will get you into town for 30-40 pesos and you'll appreciate the quiet location.

We stayed 3 nights and had a wonderful time. Staff were great, Frederico was a superstar at the restaurant! The rooms are spacious, quiet and well appointed for the area. Not the cheapest place to stay but worth the money.

This was a great experience, our second time staying at this hotel. Of course, this is not 5 stars like the Ritz Carlton but for the value is 6 stars! The hotel is spotless and there is more than enough room in the apartments. Very nice staff and lots of extras (passes to beach club, free bicycle rentals, fresh coffee and tea throughout the day). If you do not care about staying on the beach and you want to save some money, I highly recommend Palms. And even though the beaches and jungles of Tulum have much to offer, do not discount town itself. It was nice to be in walking distance to the excellent restaurants and local (tame) nightlife in town. A tip: as of October 2014, there is noisy construction next to the hotel on the east side. I would recommend asking for a room on the north or west side of the property.

We had such an amazing time staying at Las Ranitas.
We were greeted at check in with a refreshing juice, the first view of the ocean from the lobby is gorgeous and the staff so friendly. Our room was exactly as it appeared in the pictures. We stayed in the Cristal upstairs unit which is definitely worth the extra cost as it has AC. Everything in the room was perfect, down to the high end bathroom products and the charming flowers and towels arrangement that the housekeeping left every morning.
We stayed during turtle hatching season. Each morning the hotel staff would check the beach for baby turtles who hadn't made the trek into the ocean because of seaweed that washed up on the shore. They would gather up the babies and then release them after dark the next time. The staff genuinely care for the survival of the baby turtles and were kind enough to include the guests in helping the babies on their journey into the ocean. Really special experience!
Breakfast each morning was by far my favorite meal. A great selection of smoothies, standard breakfast fare and wonderfully spicy mexican egg dishes. Wait staff were all very cheerful and friendly.
We stayed during the slow season, but I can imagine the hotel zone gets packed during busy season. Las Ranitas is at the southern edge of the hotel zone and I imagine one of the quieter places when the hotels fill up.
Highly recommend this hotel!

We stayed here for 3 days while travelling around tulum. My wife and I thought that this hotel was the nicest out of all the hotels we stayed at on our trip. Comfortable beds, nice staff, Coffee, AC, flat screen television.
A little bit of a walk from town, but we enjoyed walking and there is a great tacos al pastor across the street as well as a nice fish restaurant right across the street. Not sure but I think it is the one that was reviewed in NY time but not named.
Highly recommended if you pre book online to save 50% of the listed price at the hotel, and dont mind walking a little bit - 10 mins slow 5 fast from the end of the sidewalk

Would recommend if you're planning to experience Tulum Playa. We stayed 3 nights in room 22 beachside and it was surrounded by lush green and just steps down a small path to the beach. This hotel is a part of The Beach Tulum and is also associated with Ziggy's restaurant. Each morning we had a complimentary breakfast at Ziggy's and was a huge plus to be able to start our day with a beachside breakfast and a quick email catch-up with their complimentary internet. Location is toward the middle of the beach zone and an easy walk up or down the beach to the various restaurants and resorts. Only complaint was from my wife, who wanted hot water instead of the warm water from their showers. Other than that, we'd return in a heartbeat if we come back.

Arriving at Las Tres Palmas after flying for 11 hours, and busing for 2, it was a little spot of heaven. The gentleman that checked us in, took us directly to our room, and turned the AC on and didn't ask us for anything. The kitchenette was nice, and the shower was fresh water and clean. We rented bikes for a little under $5 USD a day. Laundry service was cheap and prompt, and everything was cleaned nicely. The free Wifi was fairly fast, and didn't have any connection problems that I could detect.
