“SMH”

Where do I begin? This hotel is visually appealing but thats where it stops. The room was painted nicely, but the platform on the bed was annoying, kept hitting your feet. Mirror in bathroom was falling off the wall, tub was high to get in and shower curtain would not stay in place. Toilet was hard to flush, ( modern is not always good) first night called for room service and the food was excellent! Next day.... I was served a bloody burger that took almost an hour to get, when I ordered well done... SMH.....then they held an unexplained amount of money on my credit card and when asked about the hold NOONE could explain the amount that was held. The ac in the room was freezing on low and the control was all the way by the door, so to turn it off or adjust it you have to get out of bed and freeze. Then it would get hot immediately. Called for service and they te us that someone would be up in 5 minutes..... The man showed up over 2 hours later...SMH lol, the stay was so bad all I can do is laugh about it.

“Ok Trip to Trinidad”

Although the Hotel was in a good location, I was very dissapointed when I arrived. The Hotel did not look anything like they advertise it on line. I don't even agree with the rating of 4.5 stars. I believe this Hotel should be rated 3.5 stars. I was under the impression that the hotel was new, However, I believe it needs some rennovations or at lesat some painting in between the halls and some new carpet as well. There are some areas, where the carpet is stained. This looks really bad, especially if the Hotel has a high rating.

Area recommendations

The Port of Spain area is nice. They have some nice places to eat, but if itis your fist time, you better ask a local for a recommendation.

Getting around

If you are going to stay in Port of Spain, you should hire a permanent driver. Taxis or cabs are extremely expensive. A single trip could cost you 25USD each way. Especially if your traveling out of the Port of Spain area. The best thing to do is negotiate a good rate with a trusted taxi driver, whcih the hotel can even recommend. At the end it will be a lot cheaper than getting taxis.

Nightlife

Unfortunately, I cannot say much about the night activity, becuase the country was in a State of Emergency. You could not go out after 11:00PM to 4:00AM . If you enjoy the night life , you better check the condition of the country before going.

location is not convenient..need a taxi to go anywhere -even next door and hotel has no atmosphere for entertainment , food locals , and lobby bar..

“Very comfortable”

Found hotel on this site for a short-notice stay in Port of Spain, and was not at all disappointed. Handy location just at the back of town. I was especially pleased with the room decor, very comfortable bed and the quiet & efficient A/C. Decent-sized pool for lap swimming, nice restaurant, and friendly staff.

Must see

i usually visit the South part of the island, but extended my trip to stay in Port of Spain to catch the cricket at Queens park. Great experience for me as an expat Brit.
