Pros: Fairly Central position close to shops (if they are open)
Cons: Bar fridge was empty, no ice facilities, fridge had mould growing in it
Location: near museum, shops and aquariam
Average Hotel, reasonable value for money. Generrally a bit tired, but the room we had, had been repainted / renovated and had new toilet etc

Small, outdated, rubbish place to stay

Central location but difficult parking

Pros: The proximity is good. The staff in the bar was chatty and polite.
Cons: Better signage for parking. Some maintenance in the bathroom.
Location: The Strand is about 3k's away. Magnetic Isl Ferry is close by. The Cowboys League Club is across the road. Some newer eateries on Flinders St.
In TVL for the NRL game so the place was busy. The parking is close by but there is no signage for Holiday Inn at the entry to confirm you are in the right parking complex. The bathroom is tiny and really does not work. The shower recess fills up as the water does not run away. Our room was actually better suited as an adjoining room.

Unfortunately we only lease two floors of the car park and do not have full ownership. We have signage as you enter the car park but not on the exterior of the building. Pros: Cleanliness and proximity.
Location: Location location excellent for the Townsville markets and the Cowboys League club.
Loved the weekend in Townsville and very close to all the amenities I needed.

Oldy but a goody.

The 'Sugar Shaker' is a Townsville icon and I have stayed there in and off over the last 25 years. I think it is at its best at the moment, from the crisp, clean smell, well presented and mannered staff in the lobby set an excellent first impression. The rooms are clean, well appointed and laid out with a new, functional bathroom with excellent toiletries available. The only set back was the balconies were under maintenance so I couldn't open the door to let the breeze in. Set in the centre of town it is only a few minute's walk to anything you need. I'll be back.
