We booked an early Sept getaway in order to miss the school holiday crowds. The hotel was at only 20% occupancy which worked well for us as we received very personalized care and attention. We were upgraded on arrival and the views from the terrace of our suite were really lovely. The hotel site is big and a little hilly (especially with a little one in tow) so the golf carts operated by the hotel team are a welcome bonus in getting around. The fine dining restaurant was outstanding while the more causal options including near the pool were also good. You need a car to get around and see the surrounding areas and my partner is French which also helped in communications both in the hotel and outside (although everyone spoke good English). It was a shame that I didn't bring my golf gear as the course looks in beautiful condition and I didn't see anyone on it. However the Spa was excellent both in terms of the quality of the treatments but also the look, feel, maintenance and cleanliness and the hotel pool was large and with spin off areas for kids and jacuzzi. We discussed whether we would feel the same if there were super busy and that is difficult to guess at but we both agreed that it was a fabulous place to stay and the whole experience was very child-friendly (especially the staff). Our only "issue" was that we didn't realize until we left that we could have requested a different mattress for the bed. A minor issue on what was altogether a really lovely and relaxing stay.
Surprisingly the standards and service were very good for the price. Clean well equipped room, large shower, mini terrace, hairdryer and five reading lamps by the bed! Breakfast was varied and good value and was brought to our terrace at the time requested. The pool area is very nicely laid out and the restaurant, although limited in choice and expensive, served excellent food. Good parking.
If we are in the area again we will certainly come back.
It was strange that when we went into the house, there were no towels and sheets...,I went back to the reception to tell the lady about this, and she said that we had to carry our own ones....that surprised me a lot, then she said if we don't have our ones we can rent from them! Beside this witch probably was written somewhere and I miss to reed, everything else was great!
