I read some of the reviews before I went away and was a little concerned about what I'd find. But, I had a fantastic holiday. I was on my own but didn't have any problems. The food was brilliant (but I'm not the best judge perhaps as in the heat I don't eat much). The staff all over the hotel were just fantastic. I was on the 2nd floor and the room wasn't one of the refurbed ones, which is a shame but then you don't spend much time in it anyway. The location is absolutely ideal, as I could walk either way along the beach and sit and have coffee/wine somewhere else. Floors -3 to -1 need to be dragged into 2014 as they're a throw back from the 70s, but I didn't spend a huge amount of time looking at them! But the pebble dashed walls are a touch out of date....
In all, I loved it, would recommend it and will hopefully go back again. Hopefully next time I'll be able to get a refurbished room, but I'd go back anyway. Thank you for making me week a very chilled out one.
Oh, and perhaps there are too many beds around the pool that makes things a bit squished, but something that can easily be remedied I think!

"Great hotel, close to beach and other ammenities"
My husband, son, daughter and myself had an apartment which was lovely, clean, bright and airy with a view of the sea and beach from the balcony. it was kept clean and tidy by the staff. We ate out mostly so we did not use the restaurant or bar but the whole hotel was lovely and clean. The pool area was in the sun for nearly all of the day and was very well maintained. We all enjoyed our holiday and would go back there again.
We stayed for a week. The saltwater pool is lovely and the pool area is very nice. The saltwater pool itself is very cold so if you can endure the cold it is usually quite empty. The main pool area is also very nice with lots of sunbeds.
Breakfast was very good as was any food that we ate in the hotel. However we tended to eat in one of many very nice restaurants in the area around the hotel. The room was clean and comfortable. I would definitely recommend this hotel to my friends.
We (2 couples late 50's) stayed for 10 days at the Gala Hotel in Jan 2014. It was one of the best holidays we have had in the Canaries. Don't be mislaid by our advanced years we like to go out at night and relax during the day. The hotel is ideally situated for night life and close to the beach. The hotel itself is beautiful and the staff couldn't be more helpful.
When we first arrived we were given rooms at the back of the hotel which were quieter. When we said we would prefer rooms overlooking the street we were moved as soon as rooms were available which was only 2 days later. We were given the keys to the new rooms in advance to ensure we were happy then we moved. As I said the reception staff were excellent and it didn't matter who we spoke to they were all aware of what was happening.
The hotel was spotless and the amenities were great. Always beds and matresses available by the pool and when it came to settling the bill for extras it was dead accurate.
We would be happy to recommend the hotel to anyone and have done to some of our friends. The whole experience of booking with Expedia was great and we will be doing it again.
We have just returned from this hotel on 20.09.14 after two weeks stay half board. We had a fab time, entertainment no too bad, the staff couldn't do enough for you, any request was no hassle. Great choice of food in restaurant and close to beach and bus station only 5-10 min walk away to discover the island (get a bono ticket from bus office 15 euro, this was sufficient for trips around Island for two people and still left money on it). Only downside to hotel was, there was no drinks price list in the bar for people who were half board, you got a receipt with drink details but no price and this had to be settled at end of stay. Other than this a perfect holiday had by all we will certainly return in future.

mixed views of the room, comfortable but poorly lit. on ground floor view to the back of the hotel over looked by surrounding hotels and passer bys or those using the gounds playing bowls/football, very limited sun on my balcony only towards the end of the day. ok if just using the room to sleep. found the rest of the hotel exceptional, clean tidy and well maintained, wide spread of choices in the resturant, didn't use the bar nor the pool to comment. plenty hot water for baths and very central facing the golf course and a short walk to the night life/ resturant & shops
