This hotel is highly overrated. Ratings are purely based on its location. The rooms are small and extremely basic. We had small bathroom with leaking toilet. Staff is totally overworked and exploited and thus tend to look and act that way. Can only buy water at the incredibly overpriced bar restaurant food and breakfast overpriced and mediocre at best.

Two nights stay
Very friendly and professional staff. Beautiful location. Special thanks to Ivan and Ircu! Very good breakfast. Restaurant is good especially given its remote location. I would recommend to rent a car as the hotel is not served by public transportation frequently. May not be the best location to hike to the base of Torres de Paine, trail head is about one hr drive away.

I tried to get help with transportation from Puerto Natales but they just sent their main link with no help. It is a gravel road on/off 2 hours to get there. A private taxi is over $100 USD 1 way and the public bus only runs once early in the morning or once at night. We learned most people rent a car. I learned through networking that there may be a shared shuttle but not sure how to find it and hotel will not help. Not all rooms have the amazing view, some just to another building or greenery. They are simple rooms but effective and warm, good pillows with TV. It is all the basics. There is no spa or sundry store, you must walk/drive down to a mini mart that is separate but not far. If you want Hotel Lago Grey souvenirs get them there because they are not in Puerto Natales. Great cappuccino machine in bar area and decent meals. Only place to eat so either bring your own food or plan on having all your meals there, which are pricey. You must ask a lot of questions regarding tours, timing, etc it is not efficient. However, the guides on the tours are great and helpful!

The hotel was in a good location, just a short drive down to the trailhead where you can hike down to the beach where you can view the Grey Glacier and any icebergs that have calved off the glacier, and also where you can hike up to Mirador Ferrier. If you are planning to continue your trip into the park, you can take a one way boat ride to the other side of Lago Grey. I was generally satisfied with my stay, and the service was excellent from the reception as well as the restaurant/bar. However, in the room, the power sockets are placed behind the bed, so I had to shift the bed away from the wall in order to access power. Also, although you see beautiful pictures of the glaciers in the photos provided by the hotel, the view I got from my room was of a tree and other buildings. I think only the rooms on the higher floors in the newer block get the view, and in any event the glacier and the lake are quite far from the hotel so don't expect to get a close up view from your room.

Worth every penny for the view from the bar, restaurant, and the bedrooms. Incredible. The room was large, clean, had a great view, good heating, and great bathroom including lots of hot water. Food was good - both bar and restaurant - and the tours were excellent. In terms of the offered tours, we hiked up to the base of the Torres with my friend and our guide Felipe, who was excellent. The glacier cruise is brilliant, and includes free pisco sour. On our final day we did a tour of the main waterfalls and sights around the Massif - again led by Felipe. I thought this would be mildly diverting - it was actually seriously good, great to see some of the less well-known parts of the park that are equally stunning. Also to get up close with the vast amount of wildlife that’s hanging around. At lunch (the packed lunches the hotel provides are substantial) Felipe also produced bottles of wine and beers. While the tours aren’t cheap, you don’t get a cheap experience - they make you feel it’s worthwhile. Staying at this hotel was absolutely the right decision. Can’t wait to come back.

Amazing location. It’s the second time we’ve stayed here and this time it was for my birthday and they made that really special. We stayed in room 911 (excellent room number) and it had such a fantastic view. We were greeted by a view of an iceberg that had to be several stories high gleaming blue on the grey Lago with the glacier grey in the background. Amazing. Good food and yummy pisco sours! I only wish we hadn’t split up our hotels (two days in one place in TDP and two days in another) because I’d love to still be staying there and have that view. However, when in TDP you shouldn’t spend much time in your room because you’ve got to get out and explore!

Great but could be exceptional
Hotel Lago Grey is exceptionally located in Torres del Paine on the Grey Lake. I was informed that the hotel used to be considered a Hostel and that’s maybe somewhat noticeable in the facilities although I understand they are looking to add a Spa. The Hotel thrives on the Navigation to the Glacier which is a truly wonderful trip but suffers slightly with its excursion offering in the Park. Just be warned that as a solo traveller it might be complicated to do tours as they have a two person minimum, grant priority to all inclusive guests and only have a small team of guides which to me seems to be understaffed. The guides however who were amazing, they are extremely knowledge, friendly and helpful. Furthermore, the hotel staff (reception, Restaurant, Bar) and the navigation team are all fantastic and do everything they can to assist and accommodate you. They even go as far as to contact Head Office so they can make an exception. I had a Superior Lake view room which was very comfortable but it didn’t have an uninterrupted view of the lake, as the pictures show, but a large tree bang in the middle - that’s not to say the view was bad just not as expected for the price of the room. Overall I had a wonderful time at Lago Grey and with a few tweaks it could be exceptional.

We stayed at 3 different hotels in Torres Del Paine and this was the best of them all. The room was comfortable with a breathtaking beautiful view of the lake, mountains and Glacier Grey in the distance. The restaurant and bar also had the same beautiful view but from many windows. We had dinner in the restaurant and the food was good and reasonably priced (in fact it was the best value food in the whole park when you compare price and quality). There was a welcome drink which could be redeemed at the bar anytime. The only improvements I could suggest would be to include a fridge in the room and a bathtub. I would highly recommend this hotel and would stay here again if I return to Torres Del Paine

Great stay.
Beautiful hotel in a pretty spectacular part of the world. We stayed in a lake view room and weren’t disappointed. Views were excellent. Bed was comfortable and shower was large. Wonderful staff who spoke English better than lots of places we have stayed. A few things to note. It is a long way from the parks walks and view points though it has some of its own walks that are pretty good. Around 1.5 hours to the Mirador Base walk approx driving. The room has a radiator but no air con and we found it very hot some nights even after turning the radiator off. Walkways are made of slat timber so hard to roll suitcases on. Would recommend and would absolutely stay again.

Get a roomwith a view, its the only reason
With great views of Lago and Glacier Grey inside Torress del Paine Park, this is a wonderful location. Due to isolation the hotel restsurant is the only choice. They had a large tour group there snd the night we ate there the staff was overwhelmed. We ended up going to bed without dinner. The next morning the remnants of the dinner bill had already been removed from the bill. Well done. The beds have old coil mattresses and are on wheels. Not comfortable. We arrived after a long day at 7 PM. Our room wasnt ready. Im not sure why. At over $400 USD a night, I expected better.

The hotel is located in front of the lake. You can see the huge glacier formation and the iceberg floating on the lake through the window. Nice bar and restaurant. The beef patty in the burger is at least an inch thick. Quick check in and a bell boy stand by to take you to your room. Surprisingly good TV reception. Bathroom needs some updates.

Staying at Lago Grey...we couldn’t have asked for better hotel experience at Torres Del Paine. Staff was helpful, friendly and made us feel welcome. Also booking and going on the boat to see the Glacier right from this hotel versus having to drive from another point in park was a major plus!!!!

"Welcome Home" with a great view!
Long story short, the airlines lost our luggages for 3 days and we couldn't start our journey to hike the W trail. The entire staff (Alonso, June, Marcela and Francisco) may us feel like home while we spent 3 days (we had to extend our stay) waiting for our bags. In addition to the amazing staff, the local surroundings and views are breathtaking. There are several activities available such as hiking trails to local market (Rio Pingo) or mirador and the navgation ferry ride to Grey Glacier. If you don't end up staying here, please come visit the restaurant as the food is very tasty and we had one of the best seafood dishes in awhile. Only downside is the Wifi will go in and out but if you are going to Torres Del Paine, you are here to get away from the connectivity of electronics. Please do yourself a favor and stop by Hotel Lago Grey. You won't regret it!

Warm, personable and caring staff. Knowledgeable guides. The walk to the boat for the glacier tour is peaceful and beautiful. To those who have posted critical reviews on this, you went to Pategonia and didn't expect to walk and enjoy the surroundings? There were good dining choices, tastefully presented. I went to Hotel Lago Grey on a once in a lifetime journey to Pategonia. Now I want to go back. Everyone was so great I want to name names, but won't because I hate to omit anyone, I love the place.

Rooms do not have WIFI and even in the lobby the reception is poor. Rooms are ok, but they miss a table, This hotel makes sense though if you only want to go hiking, but not as a stop on the way to somewhere else. If you drive, this is a trap. There is no gas station around and you need to drive to Puerto Natales, about 60 km away,

Overall excellent experience.
We spent 4 nights & enjoyed our stay very much! The highlight was talking a tour with Carlos!! Although it was pricy it ended up more than worth it once we spent the day with him. Very knowledgeable - Excellent English (& he spoke to me in Spanish if I initiated which was great for me to practice) - clearly enjoys what he is doing! The driver Javier was also great. The changing nightly dinner menu was always top class food - The bar had a small menu - could be expanded for more choose if you are spending a long time here it got repetitive. Breakfast was also great and included. Restaurant staff was wonderful - bar staff a little less attentive but all friendly. Rooms were very modern & spacious - we upgraded to have a view which was worth it. Heated bathroom floors was a surprise bonus! Wi-Fi was very slow & almost didn't work at all during peak hours especially in our room. We didn't fully understand that we would have little access to the full park from here so just be aware when planning. The cost of a transfer from the Park Administration to the hotel was our #1 complaint. We took the bus from Puerto Natales & maybe should have come a different route but that was what we thought was our only option - we heard later it might have been the long way - bringing us all the way through the park & leaving us at the stop closest to the hotel. It was only a 17 minute drive & there were 4 of us on the return yet it cost US $22 each person.

Breathtaking Views
First, know that while the hotel is great, you're primarily paying for the utterly breathtaking view (from those rooms with a view). Staff is extremely helpful and friendly and the restaurant options were quite good. The rooms were also very nice (very quiet and very nice beds). The only complaint is that the wifi is virtually unusable in the entire place. You'll basically be off the grid the entire time you're there (which might not be so bad).

Beautiful views and great hiking
We had a great time even though it was raining. We went on a hike from the hotel and the views were beautiful. The hotel staff was nice. We didn't take an excursion from there, but we asked questions to the person in charge and she was very helpful. Great service. We ate at the bar instead of restaurant. The restaurant has only one menu, already set up dinner, 3 dishes I think. The bar food was good.

all about the view
There are limited facilities in Torres Del Paine and Hotel Lago Grey commands a perfect view of the lake Grey and the surrounding mountains, including the Torres. Hotel is clean (remember that you are in a remote park in Patagonia) and the food was excellent (fixed price dinner menu). The hotel offers different excursions to discover the rest of TDP as well as the catamaran service to visit the Glacier Grey itself. (reservations highly recommended in the high season (Jan). We only stayed for 1 night as we moved around the park a bit but in retrospect this would have been a classy 'base of operations' for a TDP visit. We drove a rental car and had to deal with the (dirt) road conditions of the park and absence of gas etc ourselves. Could have avoided that by staying a little longer in Hotel Lago Grey. Wifi is non-existent in the rooms and 'OK' in the lobby area (but not good enough for facetime). Our room had NO view of the lake but the lobby/bar and hotel do have it. Highly recommended as a more 'reasonable' priced alternative to the Explora hotel.

Great room with a beautiful view
Staff was very friendly and offered so much advice on things to do. We stayed in room # 914 - stunning view and very high quality room - rooms 909 - 915 will have the best views with 913, 914 and 915 having the very best. That being said, I would not stay at this hotel again if I wasn't guaranteed a room in the 909-915 room block as the other rooms have limited to no view at all. I would always pay & upgrade to get one of these rooms. Reception - the reception space is lacking due to construction. When we arrived on September 24, 2015 the reception/ check in was in a small hotel room right when you enter the grounds. It's was a bit weird and cramped but the staff was very friendly. Restaurant - due to the construction there was no bar which after reading other reviews was a cheaper dining option and often times the food was better than their dinner menu. We had to eat their lunch or dinner menu everyday which was sort of expensive and the food was just ok - after reading numerous reviews, our expectation was set pretty low for food at the restaurants in the park so this wasn't unexpected. Dinner and lunch were 4 courses and you could order a complete menu or you could remove any of the courses that you wished. Breakfast was a buffet of exactly what we expected: meats, cheeses, bread, jam, cereal - the regular things. You can also order eggs if you'd like and they don't always ask you if you want them but if you ask any of the staff, they'll be happy to make them.

Quite comfortable and great atmosphere
We really enjoyed our time at Lago Grey. We stayed in the off-season and had almost the entire place to ourselves (on 2 nights we were the only people there other than staff). The service was excellent and the food was really good. Breakfast was included and was quite plentiful. There are also no places open in the park to eat, so you pretty much have to eat at the hotel for meals. For dinner, they had a set dinner with two entree options or you could order specific courses....all the food was very good and there was a lot of it. One thing to note is that meals are served at set times and dinner doesn't start until 8pm. Also, breakfast starts at 7am, but we had to tell them if we planned to take breakfast that early or we risked no one being there. I imagine that this is not a problem during the summer when more people are at the hotel. The rooms were very comfortable and clean. However, there are no extra amenities in the room like TVs or coffee makers. Service was outstanding, especially in the restaurant. The location of the hotel is about a 20-25 minute drive from the main entry point to the park, and it has great views from the restaurant/lounge area overlooking the lake and the glacier/mountains. There are some nice hiking trails nearby as well. I would definitely stay at this hotel again, even in the summer when there are other options available.
