The hotel was pleasant enough, in a nice country setting, but the room and bathroom were narrow. We were two people and had to be careful not to bump into the wall. The shower had a siding circular door which left you trapped in a kind of pod.
The restaurant at the hotel was not as good as we expected. The menu was basic and not interesting. We had much better food on the Venice-Milan expressway getting there.

This is, indeed, a restored manor house from the mid-16th century. The owners were fabulous, erudite and pleasant and accommodating. The cappuccino in the morning was perfect, the bed was really really comfortable, and it was extraordinarily clean. There is a small garden outside with cool neo-Baroque cement benches and chairs, and the surroundings were absolutely silent at night, a rare thing in Italy.
The only drawback, and no fault of the Antico Torre, is that the small suburb it's in is Deadsville -- not a trattoria or anything within walking distance. A decent pizzeria, but only for takeout. That said, the beautiful city of Pavia is an easy ten minute drive away, as is the stupendous Certosa di Pavia. Walking distance from the Certosa is the Locanda Vecchia, one of the best restaurants I've ever been to. You MUST have a car, however, and getting to the Torre on arrival at Milan Malpensa was daunting; better to get over your jet lag and then make it on the second or third day.
Also, I was travelling alone this time; Antico Torre is great for couples, not sure about kids. But a very pleasant start to my holiday so far. Highly recommended.

Had a 2 bedroom appartment. Owners were very nice. Arrived pretty late due to flight delays. They recommended a local restaurant which was amazing. Breakfast was extra but very worthwile. A great experience for the money. Would definately stay there again. About 1.5 hours from MXP by national routes - less by Autostrade.
