“Nice area”

Nice hotel, rooms are fairly small, pub at the bottom of hotel, as well as a breakfast/cafe. Very safe area, there are shops within a very short walk, to save a bit of money, and a supermarket not too far away either. Ballparks etc are within walking distance. Would recommend this hotel.

Area recommendations

The area in which Strathcona is situated is very nice, with plenty of shops within walking distance as well as sports arenas. Nightlife is within walking distance also, although if you were looking to do some nightclubs etc I'd probably recommend staying further into the entertainment district

“Total Rip Off Dump”

$3/ minute to call the US when the actual cost is about 12 cents/min. Small rooms, crappy breakfast.

“Good VALUE for the money!”

Having read some of the reviews on this hotel I was a bit apprehensive about booking my room! After my stay, I have to say that I felt I got VALUE for the money due primarily to hotel's location at the foot of York and Front Sts, and for being across from Union Station. Which for me was short walk to the Metro Toronto Convention Centre for my conference. I have since recommended this hotel to others, and plan to book it again in January for another conference be held at the same MTCC then. Overall, the room was small but very clean and cosy. I was only there to get a good night's sleep, and like anything - you get what you pay for! If you're looking to stay in a (I can't afford) 5-Star hotel, look elsewhere! If you are looking for a reasonably inexpensive hotel without 5-Star frills, this is most affordable the place near to the busines and entartainment districts, and across from TTC, GO & VIA trains. Best VALUE for the $$$!!

“Nov 2011 Toronto”

Great location and you cant beat the prices. The room is on the small side but you are 2 min walk from Union station. They have some newly renovated rooms on the top floors that look very nice. Clean and comfy. This was my second stay this year.

Area recommendations

Toronto is growing at an enormous pace. Cranes dot the downtown skyline and there is a lot to do and see in Toronto. This hotel put you right in the thick of things for a great price.

“Great and convenient”

“staff was not so friendly”

This hotel was clean and located near the subway and train station. I was unhappy with the staff and service. The women who were cleaning nearby rooms were very loud both in the hallway in front of my room, and in the rooms nearby. I hate to The desk clerk seemed very annoyed when I asked her if she could call me a cab, and questioned me twice about being a hotel guest. I ordered room service for breakfast and the food and coffee were cold and from the buffet downstairs. Not a horrible experience- but not a great experience.

“Worthy of Pricepoint”

The hotel was sufficient. Rooms are quite small and elevator slow but provides everything one needs.
