"Absolutely great property close to Rogers Centre"
Arrived 30 minutes before first pitch at Rogers Centre and greeted warmly by all staff. We had been upgraded to a wonderful fourth floor room and found everything PERFECT. Great location to attend any event at the Rogers Centre and downtown restaurants. Will definitely return to the SoHo Metropolitan on our next visit to Toronto.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here, it's a beautiful old hotel all tarted up with mod cons in the best possible taste, by people with a real sense of style. Our room was done by someone named "ladyfag" (no joke, google her) in what can only be described as "mid-19th Century cathouse boudoir". Staying there was pure delight. The hotel staff were all also equally stylish, friendly, and beautiful (both male and female). The only downside was that some of them seemed SINGULARLY uninformed about the neighborhood, but still, all were eager to be helpful. All in all well worth the rather high price. This would be my first choice place to stay in Toronto henceforth.
Terrific Chinatown boutique hotel. You arrive through the bar/restaurant (an airy, comfortable space), the staff is very friendly (have a drink while you're waiting) and within a few minutes the manager is checking you in. Rooms are very clean and bright (floor-to-ceiling window), very modern. King bed in the middle of the room: a bit tight to walk around, esp. to get to the small desk if you need to do a little work, but it's so bright and quiet that soon you don't notice.
Events take place on the ground (bar) floor and first floor, but floors/ceilings are so well insulated that once you're in your room you can't hear them going on at all. It's fun to show up in the middle of an opening or somebody's wedding reception anyway.
Great location: a few minutes from delicious dumplings or bahn mi on Spadina, around the corner (but a world away) from the funkiness of Queen St. The manager on the days we checked in and out, Rich, was the best: he made us feel at home. The housekeeper offered late check-out without my even asking. Many small nice touches. We'll be back.
We were recommended this hotel by friends who live in Toronto and we were delighted with it. The staff were amazing, especially Kevin, and they all went above and beyond our expectations. The room was spacious and luxurious, breakfast was excellent as were the gym and pool. It is sophisticated luxury in the heart of Toronto.

Excellent service and personal attention. A 5 star plus rating. We celebrated anniversary, birthday, with business as first time visitors to Toronto, Canada. Andrea in Concierge made it feel like we had a "true friend" making sure we had the best of restaurants, tours, shows, and transportation.

We arrived with an hour to go before an Ice Hockey match - check-in was quick efficient and friendly so we were seated in plenty of time. Front-of-house staff were always friendly, smiling and helpful, even extending our checkout time as they were quiet, ordering a taxi & providing water for our journey.
I liked the extra security with lifts that needed a keycard to reach the bedrooms, and I liked the array of (highly polished) apples next to the lift. This illustrates the attention to detail in this hotel: well-stocked minibar with non-chill items in a drawer not the fridge; a safe large enough for a laptop; blackout and white blinds plus curtains; lights & pull-down shelves for reading in bed; lots of sockets; dropdown ironing board & iron; wide range of light settings; recycling box in room, and more.
Our room was huge with 2 ample double beds plus sofa for a guest, a walk-in area for dressing/clothes storage and the biggest en suite bathroom I've ever seen!! My daughter said it was the best shower she's ever had, but I felt a bit confused and was unable to get quite the right temperature. Basins good & big, but we would have liked plugs to enable shaving & handwashing clothes (maybe we were confused here too!).
Breakfast was good but didn't match up to the flair in the rest of the hotel. We didn't eat dinner here, but the bar was well stocked and welcoming for singles or groups alike.
If I go back to Toronto I will stay here and I absolutely recommend it.
