Absolutely recommend, great place to stay

Posted 21-Mar-2015
Pros: Exceptionally friendly staff, size of apartment, complimentary breakfast basket
Location: Was close to local attractions, longest walk was just under 30 minutes
Our family had the privilege of staying in one of the apartments (2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms). The staff were ++ friendly, very helpful, and ever so gracious. They even provided a complimentary breakfast basket of food items (selection of dry cereals, selection of tea, coffee, milk, orange juice, apple juice, bread and cookies). We were very pleased with our stay.

Great place to stay for families!

Posted 23-Feb-2015
Pros: Practical and very comfortable in a great location. Really good for family breaks.
Cons: You would be harsh if you criticised this location.
Location: Castle and all city centre attractions. Everything else was a short bus journey or taxi.
This was a very different break for us as a family. We usually go for Premier Inns etc as family hotels. This was more comfortable, more flexible and simply more fun. The staff were great and gave us a basket of goodies that provided breakfast for two mornings. If you need more there are shops close by. Cannot recommend the place highly enough. The only down side was outside of the control of the hotel so not going to mention it.

Perfect for a short break in Edinburgh

Posted 20-Feb-2015
Pros: Comfort, equipment, staff
Cons: only a couple of very little things (a hook on the back of the bedroom door would be nice. One of the windows rattled in the wind a bit)
Location: It's in a quiet street (although there a couple of bars round the corner). All of Edinburgh's attractions are within easy walking distance.
I can't fault The Knight Residence, which I would describe as pretty much perfect for a family wanting a short stay in Edinburgh. The immediate surroundings are not that great, but you are only a 5 minute walk from The Grassmarket, 10 or 15 from The Royal Mile and about the same from the castle (if you don't mind going uphill). The apartments are very comfortable and very well equipped - you get little luxuries like a TV in every room, a DVD player and free DVDs, a dishwasher, a bathrobe for everyone. I was also really impressed that the kitchen had been stocked with free milk, juice, bread and cereal - easily enough for breakfast for two days for four people. The staff were superb - they could not have been friendlier or more helpful. Highly recommended.

A marveloous find ...

Posted 07-Jan-2015
Pros: The location, facilities, the flexibility of 'having our own place' - and the price
Cons: Nothing
Location: The apartment block is well situated in the heart of Edinburgh, just a short walk from the Grassmarket (the Old Town).
What a marvellous find! We had 3 nights stay and were very comfortable. The staff were courteous, friendly and helpful; nothing was too much trouble to either explain, arrange or sort out. Our two rooms were very comfortable (and nice and warm, despite the really cold winter weather outside), and the apartment block is well situated in the heart of Edinburgh, a short walk from the Grassmarket. We look forward to returning for a longer stay and would recommend The Knight Residence to anyone visiting the city.

Wonderful Christmas experience. Overall this was a fantastic place to stay and we would go back. Location was within walking distance of nearly everything we wanted to see in Edinburgh (though you are immediately adjacent to three strip clubs, we always felt safe and there was no street noise at all). The staff was friendly and always helpful. Cabs, if needed, would arrive in less than 5 minutes when called by to hotel staff (or when we used the City Cabs app, which worked beautifully). Wifi was available, but inconsistent. It would often not reach the main bedroom. Fellow travelers be warned: the washer and dryer advertised are tiny, and they are the same machine. we packed less, anticipating a mid-week load of washing. The machine only held about 2 pairs of pants and 2 shirts, and took about 3 cycles (4 1/2 hours) to fully dry. Your best bet would be not plan to use these machines for anything but underwear and socks. The kitchen was perfect. We ate breakfast in the room most days (groceries were a 2 min walk away), and cooked one full meal. We had everything we needed, and the hotel supplied basics of juice, milk, coffee, tea, and cereal etc. to get us started.
