“Centrally located business hotel”
This hotel is really a business hotel and is located in the business district of Tokyo. This said it still adequate for non business clients. As with most hotels in Tokyo the rooms are small particularly single rooms. The staff who clean the rooms are very good. Reception staff are generally very helpful, hotels inTokyo are not cheap and you may feel that you pay a lot for what you get but this is generally the case in Japan especially when it comes to room sizes.
“Horrible!!”
This hotel was so disgusting and uncomfortable! Our first room had food crumbs all over bed and nasty hairs all over the sheets! They switched us to another room which also had a stained grungy comforter. Would not suggest this hotel to anyone. It always smells on every floor including the non smoking.
“I'll stay there again.”
Being next to Tokyo Metro goverment, clean and safe neighborhood. Few minutes walk from Shinjyuku-station, and closer to Tocho subway station. Great place to stay to get around Tokyo area. The hotel allowed early check-in, but will depend on availability.
“Convenient location”
Convenient location, airport bus come to the front of the hotel, free internet and good service. Room is a typical small one in Japan, but manageable for a business trip. Carry a smaller baggage!
“Great Location, that's all.”
This hotel probably once was lovely, but now is dated. The location is really good about a 15 minute walk from the station. The hotel has a few restaurants in it that we didn't use apart from our last breakfast, which was OK.The actual room was really tiny, which I had prepared for, but I think if it had of been a bit brighter and cheerful it wouldn't have seemed so dismal. The bathroom is pokey but adequate, I would definetly stay for one night because of location but we stayed 4 nights and it wasn't nice to know at the end of the day we had to go back to it.The reception is on the third floor and is also quite average, for such a big hotel. In summary I think you could do better, this hotel promised much and delivered average.
“Decent hotel”
Clean room, not too far from the station, good price. This place also has a few shops and restaurants in the basement so it's pretty convenient. Overall, a good hotel.
“Great location and nice hotel”
The Washington Hotel is a business hotel so it will not have all the frills of the Park Hyatt down the street but it will provide you with a clean, quiet place to stay. When picking a hotel in Tokyo, how you are getting to your hotel from the airport is an important factor. With the Washington Hotel there is private bus service you can take at the airport that will drop you off and pick you up right in front of the hotel. The trains are crowded and the streets are tough to navigate so I would not recommend the train unless you know your way around the city.
“wonderful stay”
considering the purpose of the hotel is just for showering & sleeping, the cleanliness & the location was important. the room size is not exactly what you would call spacious & there's no wardrobe (not that we had any clothes that needed hanging), but it served the purpose for us. the reception staff were also helpful in giving us directions.
“Shinjuku Washington: Sept 2011”
Good hotel, great restaurant on main floor. Hotel was older but kept in good condition. Staff was friendly and spoke decent english. Location is 15min walk from the shinjuku train station and can be missed if you're not paying attention. It's located on a busy road but we couldn't hear any street noise from our room on the 17th floor.
“Looks good on the surface...”
I spent 6 nights at the Shinjuku Washington Hotel. The good is the staff. The staff is very polite, and helpful with all needs. The staff at the tourist desk do an excellent job of assisting the visitor with all needs. Also good was the location, a short walk from Shinjuku station, I was obtained a decent rate through Expedia. However this was a case of when you scratched below the surface what you see doesn't look that good. The hotel offers free internet access via LAN cable. I was traveling with a iPad and was aware many hotels only offer LAN access. I had brought a device with me that allowed me to establish a mini wifi hotspot in my room. I noticed a comment in the internet instructions stating the hotel could not assure internet access in the room. In 3 weeks of travel the Shinjuku was the only hotel whose internet access my wifi setup would not work with. I did notice a number of internet terminals available in the lobby, at a modest 100 yen for 15 mins. The Shinjuku has a laundry room. However when you go to dry your clothes, even a small load, it required 3 cycles of the dryer at 100 yen per. Check-out is earlier then most other hotels and appears to be enforced rather stringently. Bottom line, the Shinjuku is a hotel that tries to get the most number of people in, subtly continue to add on fees, and just do the minimal to "get the job done" from an infrastructure point of view. I don't blame the staff, all these items appears to be a corporate issue.
