“Great location”

Hotel was very convenient to Shinjuku station which made getting around the city great, comfy and clean rooms- and we could see Mt. Fuji from our window. Shuttle service was excellent and the staff were courteous with great English. A great hotel for the price.

Area recommendations
The metropolitan government building has a great free observatory, also a couple of blocks away are nice food, electronic and video game stores which light up at night. There is a nice small shrine across the road in the park.

“Great Hotel in Tokyo for Foreiners!!!”

Overall the hotel was great. Couldn't ask for much more for the price. It is a very affordable hotel if you're on a budget and want to be in a good location. The hotel is about a 15 minute walk to the center of Shinjuku and Shinjuku station but it is a very enjoyable walk. The best thing was that it seemed like every one of the receptionist/hotel employees could speak great English! The staff was extremely kind and helpful. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone.

“Good option for price, location and services”

Shinjuku New city hotel offers a good level of comfort and service for a reasonable price. The staff have a limited understanding of english but are very willing to help. The hotel offers a complimentary bus service to the station and for the price was everything we needed and more!

“great little hotel”

stayed here for 6 nights this hotel has a lovely friendly feel the twin room we had was a good size by tokyo standards and was very clean and tidy . it has a very good free shuttle bus service which takes you to the west exit of the very busy shinjuku station and the hotel is just far enough away from everything to be quiet and relaxed . well worth staying at .

i would say that tokyo is the cleanest city in the world. very safe and so much fun

“Budget Deal, But Never Pay Full Price”

Our stay in the hotel was shocking at first due to a very rude member of the check-in counter staff. The rest of the staff were perfectly courteous. The Semi-Double Non-Smoking room was basic but fine, aside from the lack of wireless internet access. There was a splotch stain on the comforter that was a bit unsettling, but other than that the room was comfortable.

“Good, economical hotel with great services”

Room was small, but well-equipped and in good order. No Internet in the rooms, but had a nice, cheap web cafe in the lobby. About a 10 minute walk to the West Shinjuku metro station, with an excellent shuttle service to the big railway station.

“Good value with central location”

If you are after a "no-frills" accommodation this is the place to stay. The complimentary shuttle service to shinjuku station is quite helpful, specially during check-out when we had a lot of luggage. Good surrounding area as the central park is just in front of the hotel. Plenty of convenience stores nearby. Staff can communicate and know basic english and are extremely helpful. The rooms are a bit small specially the toilet and bath but you can get pass the small inconvenience as the rooms are always cleaned. We're only in the room to wash up and sleep as we are out most of the times. Centrally located but far enough to the "city rush", we enjoyed the leisurely walk to and from the train station which takes about 10-15 minutes. Close to many food stalls and restaurants. Not a lot of space to move around though if you have a lot of luggage with you and they don't have a closet for your bags and clothes. They provide free internet access just ask for the cable at the reception. We haven't tried the breakfast at the mermaid restaurant as we always want to try out other places around the area. Found a KFC and a 24-hr Mc D close by as well as a 7/11 store. Overall...we had a good experience with Shinjuku New City Hotel. Good value for money, if you're on a budget and if you're only after basic amenities.

Area recommendations
Its nice to have a leisurely stroll around the central park in the mornings as it is situated right in front of the hotel. The Metropolitan Government Bldg is also abour 5 minutes walk. Exploring the Shinjuku train station is an adventure in itself! so many things to see and so many places to explore!, plenty of shopping and a lot to see...we enjoy just hanging around there for a few minutes and do some people-watching to have a feel of everyday "tokyo". I remembered getting lost a few times because this place is huge! Yodobashi camera is also very close to the station as well as Keio Mall and Lumine. So many food stalls and restaurants to choose from that we always find it hard to decide which one to go to every meal time :) As it is within the Yamanote Line, so easy for us to go to Harajuku and Shibuya and my teenage kids loved that.
When to go
We went there mid May and the weather is fine... not too chilly and the sun is still out. we don't really feel too tired after a long day of going around Tokyo because the weather is good.
Getting around
We got ourselves the N'EX and Suica Package and the Suica Card is just amazing! we used it for train travel, for shopping in convenience stores and vending machines as long as it displays the Suica logo, you just tap and go! We just top up the credit at any train station and we're all set for another day. We don't have to purchase our train tickets all the time. I think you can also top up the credit from some family mart or 7/11 stores. Very handy to have- we used it all the way to Osaka at the Universal City- and we kept our Suica cards as souvenirs... I understand they are valid for 10 years so hopefully we can go back and visit again soon and will definitely use them again.

“Extremely good value”

Friendly staff and allowed us to put our baggage in a secured room prior to check-in. Staff spoke good English. The complimentary shuttle service to and from Hotel to Shinjuku station was efficient and driver was extremely polite and friendly. Room size was big for Tokyo and room service was good. Free Internet was good.

“Semi-double room 6th floor”

Stay here for 3 nights. Location is far from subway about 1 kilometers, I have to use hotel shuttle bus. Beware the shuttle bus stop's map. The map show that the bus stop is near the shinjuku station, I've waited for an hour on ground level. I phoned to hotel, he told me to wait the bus at under ground level. The bus is small, not enough for rush hour. Room was cleaned & comfortable but Air-condition didn't work properly, very hot and the receptionist solve this problem by just only told me to open the window!!? Not recommended.
