“Surprisingly good hotel”
We booked this hotel because it was in our price range, and it turned out to be a fabulous find. It's just a 5 minute walk from the nearest Airport Limousine Hotel (Hotel Okura). It's also close to a few stations, and if you don't mind a walk, we easily walked to Tokyo Station and back (probably 40 minutes each way). Shinbashi Station is a bit shabby, but the other subways nearby are good. It's also just five minute's walk from Tokyo Tower and there's a nice shrine right next door. This is a business hotel, but our room was a good size, tidy, and even had a table and chairs.
“Convenient base for exploring Tokyo”
This is a typical Japanese business hotel - it offers a clean and safe place to sleep. If you plan to spend time in your room, or if you need a lot of space, then you might want to consider other options. I've rated the hotel based on a one night stay where all I needed was a clean, safe and conveniently located place to sleep. The hotel is conveniently located in the lively Shinbashi area, and a easy 10-15 walk from Shinbashi station (just remember to take the correct exit from the station!) There are 3-4 other stations within a 5-10 minute walk of the hotel, which gives excellent access to the Tokyo subway system and a base to explore from. There are many places to eat around Shinbashi station. The 2 convenience stores nearby are ideal places to buy snacks and drinks. There is even a McDonalds down the street where you can get a coffee!
“Easy location.”
Good size room with everything we needed. Good location, 10 min walk to Shinsashi Station and nice 30 min walk to Rippongi. A lot of traditional restaurants nearby.
“Good Comfort but a little bit of a walk to metro stations!”
Nice hotel, helpful staff a bit far from things other then the sky tree, the imperial gardens and a couple of shrines and temples though. Nearest metro is about 5-10 min walk.
“I liked the discounted rate - value for the location”
What I liked: location (being close to the area where I was planning to assist) even the times I missed the last train, I took a cab and the fare was the minimum or a bit more than the minimum, that's certainly a huge advantage in Tokyo. The room rate was also fair compared to other options nearby even not as good as the first time I stayed. To the staff, if you ask, they do explain you how to get to the metro station even not being very fluent in English, but they help. You also get free wired internet in the room. What can improve: its my 2nd time in the hotel and paid for the new wing thinking it was going to be much better than the old wing, but the rooms were almost the same, a few details in the bathroom but didnt worth it. the train station is not very close, but its not that far either, if you like walking. What I didnt like: I arrived after a 12 hour flight + 1.5 ride to the city, I asked if I could check in bcs. i was exhausted, it was around 8 am and they didnt even give me a choice, they just said "NO checkin until 3 pm" I asked can it be a bit earlier? they said an absolute "NO" even seeing how tired I was. They didnt want to exchange me 40 USD for a meal as I ran out of Yen, so they are not very customer service oriented. When I did my booking I get an additional charge for some sort of fee. Prices should include all taxes and fees.
“Did a good choice with this one”
Tokyo is extremely harsh on the pocket for some of us, I needed to locate an affordable, yet comfortable accomodation, I found myself looking into hostels which means shared floor which I wasnt happy about, capsules that I heard take you out at 10:00 which didnt convince me either, etc. then I found a special rate on this Tokyu Inn and I can say that it provided a fair value for the price, a good location and the staff was friendly, yes, as everything in Japan you will not expect to have a huge room, yet it was comfortable. On the cons: even i put the "do not disturb" sign bcs. I wanted to sleep, the reception called me twice to know when could they do my room, That was a bit bothersome, But that was it, the subway is around a 10 minute walk. Good option for me.
“Excellent hotel and near dining and subways.”
Staff was very friendly and understood English fairly well. Most of the clients at the hotel were dressed in business attire. The hotel is close to several subway stations. I used the Toranomon station mostly like another person mentioned in a prior comment. The neighborhood is quiet and safe. Lots of stores, post office and very good restaurants were near by. I stayed in the new wing of the hotel. Hotel room was very clean, roomy and quiet. Complimentary wired in-room internet access was good and fast. Common laundry area (washing machine & drier) ice machine, vending machine for beer, snacks and sodas) on floors 4 and 8 was definitely a nice option at this hotel. My original stay was supposed to be for only 3 nights and then to move on to another hotel but this hotel was such a pleasant surprise that I ended up extending my stay at the same hotel for an additional 3 nights rather than moving on to another one in the Shimbashi area.
“Good Business Hotel in Shinbashi- Akasaka Area”
Good simple, solid hotel. Rooms are typical for modest-sized Japanese hotels. Book the New Wing.
“Not impressed at all.”
The room were inexpensive, but I should have known that you get what you pay for. The reviews that I read were all good, so I took a chance. The room was actually larger than I expected. So, size wasn't the issue. However, the bathroom smelled like a public restroom and had toiletries that belonged in a Motel 6 quality room. Bedspreads were dated and drapes had holes that showed sunshine through them. Bed pillows smelled like cigarettes. In fact the entire hotel smelled like an ashtray. Furniture was old and institutional. Temperature was a big issue--I heard that the Japanese govt is restricting the temp that A/C can be set, but 68 degrees inside when it's 90 degrees outside is pretty unbearable. Shangri La restaurant breakfast buffet was dismal and expensive. Unfortunately, on the weekend, surrounding restaurants are closed since this is a business office area. Had to walk almost to the Ginza to find an open restaurant.
“Nice Hotel at a Great Price in Tokyo, yes, it exists.”
The Tokyu Inn is part of a chain of very respectable hotels in Japan. This location close to Shinbashi is fairly large. The hotel is right in the middle of several subway stations. I used the Toranomon station and it is a good 10 minute walk. The neighborhood is a mix of businesses and homes but is quite busy. It is walking distance to Tokyo Tower which I passed in my jogging run. The hotel is convenient to all of Tokyo. The rooms were large compared to other rooms in Tokyo. I write this with a caveat that I was upgraded from my actual reservation so I don't know what a regular room looks like. My room had 2 double beds and room enough to roam. Most rooms in Tokyo are so tight that if you stand on the bed and spread your arms out you can touch all 4 walls if you actually have 4. The restrooms are spacious and has the deep tubs for Japanese up to the neck bathing. Rooms have free wired internet which was a bit slow i.e. streaming video is choppy. TV are 27 inch LCD's. Yukata's are provided but you can only wear them in the hotel. Breakfast is not included and is pricy at 1200Yen+ but is a buffet and gets you a lot of food both Japanese and Western. Check In & Check Out is easy especially if you used Expedia as it is prepaid in dollars. Staff is professional and speak clear English.
