“Would not recommend”
I requested a non smoking room, and when I checked I'm they confirmed that I had a non smoking room. However, there was a stro odor of smoke (and an ashtray) in my room. I called to switch rooms and they told me that they only had smoking rooms available, except for double rooms. The room was small and poorly lit. The breakfast included toast, juice and coffee--nothing else. Additionally, the hotel is two subway stops away from Shinjuko station, which if you are traveling with a JR pass is inconvenient. They do offer "fun" classes, which maybe of importance to a first time traveler, but to me this hotel remains inconvenient and a let down. I would not recommend staying here.
“i can't wait to go back and a second trip going back is in process.”
the hotel was great it was cheap, convenient, very friendly. if i visit tokyo, i'd use Sakura Hotel Hatagaya again.
“Decent hotel”
The hotel was okay. It was listed as a non-smoking hotel, however, I could smell cigarett smoke in my room at times, plus when I went to the cafe', a couple of times people were smoking in there. Not good.
