“Affordable convenience”

Right above Tokyo Metro subway station but easy walk to major department stores and other train station. Huge room with adjustable air conditioning. Non-smoking room WAS non-smoking smell. Speedy, polite check in. Happy to store luggage after checkout. Secure lift to room floor. Close to 24hour convenience store - only negative, unfortunately not many other restaurants nearby after about 8pm.

“Good-sized rooms for Japan”

Clean, good-sized room. Very comfortable bed. Good choice of food for buffet breakfast. Could do with better coffee though! Lift shaft drops directly into Ginza-itchome subway station. Hotel is an easy 20-30 minute walk from Tokyo station.

Area recommendations
Tsukiji fish market is an easy walk from the hotel but make sure you go to the tourist information office beforehand so that you know which parts of the market you can access at which time, otherwise you may be turned away.

“Great hotle”

This hotel is in a great location , walking distance to several train stations. The room was a good size and very clean. The staff were very helpful with some of our enquires and getting directions etc. I would probably try a different area of Tokyo next time, just to have a different experience, but I would recommend this hotel. It is next to maccas if you just need something easy.

Shopping
If you are there on a Saturday, the main road is closed and it becomes a promenade along the main strip of fabulous shops- which I think is a great idea. )
Other
We were a little concerned about getting cash out of ATM's in Japan, but if you go to the post office, you can use those machines. They are outside the post office, so can be used even when it is closed. We didn't find any other ATM's we could use. ( It is a good idea to know what the post office sign looks like)

“very good choice”

We spent two nights at the Mercure in Ginza and it was very comfortable. It was a little tough to find when we first arrived coming out of the subway with all our luggage. the staff was great and the area is nice. Similar to 5th Ave in NYC or Michigan Ave in Chicago.

“Large rooms for Tokyo”

Clean, efficient, etc. with no problems. The only special note that I have is that the rooms are very large by Tokyo standards for the price. Room size was more like a European standard, than Japan, but much smaller than USA standards.

“Excellent service”

I can't say enough good about the front-desk staff at this hotel. From helping us arrange for taxis to identifying which subway train to take to calling the taxi company to retrieve the iPod my daughter left behind, everyone we worked with was helpful, courteous and professional in every way. We booked three rooms for me and my family. All were well-maintained and had excellent air conditioning. The laundry service was prompt and returned when they said it would, if a little pricey (though probably not for Tokyo). I would definitely recommend this hotel for business or family travel.

Area recommendations
We liked being in Ginza because of its proximity to three subway lines as well as Tokyo Station. It was also close to the Imperial Palace, Tsukiji and many of the restaurants we wanted to go to.
What to pack
There are no coin laundries near this hotel and the laundry service is a little pricey, so bring extra clothes or plan on taking a taxi to go do laundry. Or just pay for the laundry service, which is what we did.

“The Best Affordable Ginza Hotel”

This hotel was great. It's in a great location right in the heart of Ginza itchome. You're surrounded by high-end shops and shopping galore. The rooms were very nice for what we paid. Everything was very clean and the staff was also nice and helpful to us. Their English was pretty decent, and their brochure said they also spoke French and German, maybe Spanish too. It still helps to learn some Japanese though before you go. Subway access is also very convenient. The hotel's B1 is actually direct access to the yurakucho line, and you're about 700 yen by taxi away from Tokyo station if you need to go in that direction. All in all, great hotel, and I'd definitely revisit next time.

Area recommendations
Ginza - it's the swankiest district of them all, and if you manage to find an affordable place to stay, like this one, then do it!
Dining
If you're staying in Ginza, don't leave without going to Sweets Paradise. It's a dessert buffet above the Nikon store. You pay for 90 minutes and get unlimited cakes, pies, and drinks. They have a few meal items too. It's yummy : )

Area:

Ginza, Tokyo, Japan: High on opulence and popularity, Ginza was one of the city's first districts to implement Western-style brick buildings and gas lamps. Set in the heart of the city, it is the place for those who don't mind crowds, and serious spenders. But it takes very little to see Asia's largest fish market, a traditional kabuki play, or the latest gadgets at the Sony building.
