“College town neighborhood”
Lots of drunk college kids around the neighborhood, many of whom are either vomiting, passed out, or slurring lyrics to a pop song. Takadanobaba is definitely a fun place to hang out if you can find some locals to hang out with, but some might not enjoy all of the rookie drinking going on. With that said, Takadanobaba is conveniently located if you plan on spending time in western Tokyo. Easy access to Shinjuku, Harajuku, Shibuya, and Ikebukuro. Basically a shoppers paradise. Unfortunately, the rooms are quite small, which is expected for any of the Sunroute properties. Just enough room to open a 29 inch suitcase, but not enough to walk by it while open. Instead, you'll have to jump or detour over the bed. This can be a problem for the shopaholic, who will have little room to store they're newly acquired shopping bags. If you're not into shopping, which is understandable with the insane strength of the Yen, then you might want to stay someplace with closer access to the major sights, such as Shinagawa, Shimbashi/Ginza, Ueno, Tokyo,... If you're a large person, then definitely stay somewhere else. Somewhere other that a Japanese business hotel, which are notorious for having very little space and tiny pre-fabricated bathrooms with super low ceilings.
“Very impressed”
Went to stay at Takadanobaba Sunroute for a week back in mid Dec 2010. The location of the hotel can't be better, it's right next to the rail station; with supermarkets and restaurants surrounding it. The staff at the reception were very nice, let us to drop our luggages before the check in time. The room was in a moderate size, and very clean (the most important point to me)!! Would definitely recommend this hotel to everyone!
“Lovely Little Hotel in Super-convenient location”
This modern hotel is right next to both a JR Circle Line Stop and a Metro subway stop. While they have a breakfast for about $10 available, there are lots of choices just outside, from McD to a french baquette shop. Even with all this activity, it is not noisy in the hotel and is still a calm location compared to Shibuya or Ueno, all within 15 minutes. The rooms are very nice, but small as usual. If the price is better than others, this seems to be a wise choice.
“TAKADANOBABA AFFORDABLE AND ACCOMODATING”
With reasonable rates and an English speaking very friendly staff, I always enjoy my stay at Takadanobaba Sunroute
“Convenient and comfy!”
This hotel is a stone's throw away from the Takadanobaba subway exit so it is bascially impossible to get lost! Sooo convenient and removed from the hectic drama of the Shinjuku and Tokyo subway stations! Check-in was smooth, and they let us check-in before the regular time (3pm) which was VERY nice of them. There is ONE computer in the lobby which guests can use for free with internet, however, they are asked to limit their uses to 15 minutes each. Our room was clean and spacious (as compared with other rooms we rented over the course of the trip). We got a TWIN room and actually had some floor space to unpack our bags. The bathroom was a little small, but then again in Japan, most hotel bathrooms are TINY. The breakfast buffet at the restaurant on the lobby level is highly reccommended! Chocolate cossiants and tons of other food! It was scrumptious. We had it three mornings in a row! My only semi-dissapointment is that the hotel staff at the front desk were not even nearly fluent in English. They were nice and tried to be helpful, but there was definetly a language barrier there. We had no problems or complications on our stay and check-out was also very smooth. Of all the other hotels, I stayed at over the course of the 15 days I was in Japan this hotel is the one I most reccomend!
