“Underwhelming”
Uncharacteristically for a traditional Japanese hotel, insufficient attention paid to detail. Charge/fee for standard amenities such as internet connection, water and fitness access. Limited iron/board necessitated waiting. Did not offer any flexibility for a late check-out for night time flight departures.
“Akasaka's finest”
If you like comfort, the new otani is for you great staff and accommodations
“Herb”
My stay was wonderful - only complaint was the Internet connections . . . You must pay by the day, which I knew however, you must connect by cable not wireless! This forced me to only use the lobby wifi in 2 hour increments with an additional charge
“Great service, but dated furnishings”
The Hotel New Otani Tokyo is located near good dining and shopping in Akasaka, but does not have the appeal of Shinjuku or Shibuya. Roppongi is about a 1000yen taxi ride. The hotel garden is beautiful and worth visiting even if you're not staying in the hotel.
“Affordable High Class”
It is a relaxing stay near public transportation for the upper business class. The staff was courteous, the room was relaxing, and the amenities were top notch. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wanted to stay in a luxury hotel without paying the luxury price.
“New Otani review”
It's a decent hotel if you must stay in central Tokyo but be prepared to be gouged if you plan on eating at this hotel. It is SUPER expensive even for Japan standards. We're talking coffee will cost around 45 USD and breakfast for two will be 75+. If you must stay here there is a family mart that sells cheaper in the garden court. Breath taking gardens though and the people were super helpful.
“Old styled hotel expensive as everything in Japan, for me good location”
Rooms have to refurbished old afshioned
“Calm oasis in the heart of Tokyo”
This is a large hotel complex built around a beautiful old Japanese garden with ponds, waterfall and ancient trees. Our standard twin room in the main building was a good size, quiet, clean and comfortable with a separate sitting area. The main hotel restaurant overlooks the garden and serves an excellent, reasonably-priced continental buffet breakfast. The staff are charming and proactively helpful. The hotel is very conveniently sited; Akasaka Mitsuke metro station is about 3 minutes walk and there are numerous restaurants nearby in all price categories serving a wide range of different types of food. The hotel has its own small art gallery and we saw an interesting exhibition of Hokusai prints - entry was free to guests. A speedy broadband service is available in the rooms and there is wi fi in the lobby, which we did not test out. Both cost extra.
“Excellent!”
All elements of my stay at the New Otani Hotel were fantastic.
“One of my 5 favorite hotels in Tokyo”
Good area and closest to my customers.
