“Comfortable, convenient”
Comfortable, well-maintained hotel in an excellent location a few small blocks from Chuo Dori. Entrance to Ginza-itchōme metro station next door, a few blocks from the Ginza metro station, and a short taxi ride from Tokyo railway station. King room with a small desk and well appointed bathroom.
“Ginza accomodations on a budget”
My husband and I went to Tokyo for a 12 day vacation. This is the destination that I have always wanted to see. I booked our room at the Monterey Ginza through Expedia, the process was very easy. Japan, being hit hard by a drop-off in tourism since the big quake, has a LOT of discounted hotels. I wanted something nice-ish because my husband travels on business and is very critical of hotel accommodations. Although I read reviews of HMG on other sites I was still very surprised at the tininess of the room. We booked a double bed and the bed actually took up about 4/5ths of the floor space! However, it was quiet, extremely clean, and the bathroom was in tip-top condition, with a soaking tub and a very sophisticated toilet seat- which I laughed at, but learned to appreciate! Common areas were clean and stylish. The staff was very helpful, spoke Fairly good English and were always pleasant. The Location of HMG is fantastic- a few short blocks from Chuo-Dori and world class shopping. The area has amazing restaurants for all price levels, our favorite spots were the noodle cafes, curry places and a cute little Belgian ale pub round the corner. HMG is located near the Ginza-Itchome Station and the Tokyo Metro Ginza Station which makes it easy to take the subway to any other part of town. Tokyo Station is a fairly easy walk, less than 15 minutes, and will save you a lot on cab fare. Get a Suica-Nex train pass deal at Narita and have a BLAST running all over Tokyo!
“Great location but smoky rooms”
A nice hotel in a good (but quiet compared to say Shinjuku) location. Unfortunately our stay was tainted by the smokyness of our room. We did confirm that we had been put in a non-smoking room as requested but it seems to not matter so much as the hallways are smoky enough that you can still smell it. Also, there is no wireless internet access at all and you are expected to pay for the desktop in the lobby - something I do not expect in a hotel of this standard. This hotel is very good for smokers or those who do not mind the smell, however for those sensitive to smoke or expecting to plan a lot of their activities via the internet perhaps not the best.
“Monterey Ginza”
This little boutique hotel is conveniently located in the busy and stylish Ginza area of Tokyo. Staff is friendly, helpful and efficient and eager to provide a pleasant experience for their guests. Rooms are small but cozy with a fridge, hairdryer, and complimentary toiletries. It is in a bustling shopping area among designer shops and many fancy department stores. I enjoyed my stay and would recommend it to other travelers.
“OK but you get what you pay for”
Overall my experience of this hotel was 'fine' but just remember that you get what you pay for - don't expect you are getting a 5 star experience for a great price, you are getting a 3 star experience for a 3 star price. The location of the hotel is great, there are lots of places to eat and drink within a few metres of the hotel (both traditional Japanese and also McDonalds, Starbucks etc if you are desperate). The staff were polite and the rooms were clean (but small) - a double room has a double bed but one side is pushed against the wall which always annoys me - there is room for a large suitcase but not much else. the walls are very scratched from previous guests luggage (I assume). Only 1 TV channel in English (BBC World) and barely any of the written material in the room is in English, so perhaps they aren't trying to attract many English speaking customers. The bath is a great size if you are under 5 foot tall, otherwise you will need to stick to having a shower. The air conditioning in the rooms worked well and overall the hotel was 'fine', but if I went back I would probably try somewhere else, there are lots of other hotels in the area and I would probably prefer to pay a bit more and try for something better than 'fine'.
“Good for the rate!”
Very good location to Tokyo International conventional center, Ginza shopping district, and the famous Tsukiji fish market.
“Hotel Monterey Ginza was great”
The best thing about the hotel was its location--short walk to the Ginza district, the subway stations, and Tokyo train station. Restaraunts nearby were affordable and had great food.
“Great Location”
Stayed there for 2 nights, lobby is a bit hard to find but soon figured it out the staff were great and i made a special request for highest floor possible and they accomodated my request room a bit small but it's got everything you need, even a HD TV! :) would definitely recommend it!
“power plug without ground”
I could not charge my laptop because of the power plug that does not have a third hole for the ground. You may have to bring an adapter without ground. Other than that, it is a nice convenient hotel.
“Great location.”
Friendly courteous staff. . Great to have wifi in the room. Would have been good to have an english tv channel for international travellers. Twenty minute walk to the famous Tsukijii fishmarket. From a station which is within walking distance to the hotel there is direct acces to Narita airport on the TOEI line.

Area:
Ginza, Tokyo, Japan: High on opulence and popularity, Ginza was one of the city's first districts to implement Western-style brick buildings and gas lamps. Set in the heart of the city, it is the place for those who don't mind crowds, and serious spenders. But it takes very little to see Asia's largest fish market, a traditional kabuki play, or the latest gadgets at the Sony building.
