“Good place to stay before catching BA008”

Very modern and quiet hotel in the chaos of Haneda AIrport Domestic Terminal 2. For Britsh travellers it is especially convenient to stay the night prior to the early BA flight to London. As there are no terminal busses at night the hotel lays on two early buses to the International Terminal. Check in and out was fast. I had an excellent meal in the restuarant that does late meala and any hing from a sandwich to a Kaiseki meal, at a reasonable cost. The only drawback is that it is a little pricey but you save the early morning taxi fare. Access is easy using the trian or monorail. A boon to independent tourista and business travellers going out of Haneda at odd times.

“Met our needs”

The room was small in keeping with the Japanese sensibilities. It had all the amenities one could ask for in a compact " e-tap/ikea" style environment. The only real downside was the firmness of the bed - perhaps in line with the Japanese tradition of sleeping on a firm floor mat? If I find myself in a need of a hotel between Haneda and Narita, this would be the choice - on premisies ( Haneda terminal 2) and a safe haven.

“Haneda Excel Hotel excels! And deserves its name!”

Haneda Excel Hotel is located in Haneda Airport in Domestic Terminal 2. Haneda Airport in Tokyo is the "domestic" airport, meaning flights within Japan leave from Haneda. It now accepts international flights arriving, so I don't know if it is still technically a "domestic" airport. It is certainly more convenient than flying into Tokyo Narita International Airport, and taking the 2-hour bus trip from Narita to Haneda (at cost of $35 fare for bus), if you have to make a connecting flight. So Haneda Excel Hotel convenient. Beware, however, that if you come from overseas you will arrive at the International Terminal and will have to take a free shuttle bus (they leave about every 4 minutes) to the Domestic Terminals. Excel Hotel is in Terminal 2. Unfortunately, we also had to take another free and frequent shuttle in the morning to Terminal 1 to catch our domestic flight. The hotel is pricey but the cost is offset by saving a 2-hour bus trip and the $35 fare. The hotel is sleek and gorgeous and new, all amenities in the bathroom, lots of staff to help, and the bed was wonderful: hard and firm. I slept like a baby for my allotted 5 hours before arising at the crack of dawn to catch my connecting flight. We would stay there again. But put the clothes you need for the next day on top in your suitcase so you don't have to unpack much, as there is no room to lay out your suitcases, only barely enough room to stand them upright. Haneda in Tokyo if you need to make a connecting flight from Haneda Airport. I would do anything to avoid Narita Airport in Tokyo.

“Decent airport hotel”

A decent, if a little pricey, airport hotel. Would only really use it if you have an early morning flight. Slightly inconvenient that the hotel is located at Terminal 2 Domestic rather than International Terminal and you need to take a shuttle between the two.

“Very convenient!”

Our travel plans from Seattle had us flying into Narita Airport in the late afternoon, and out of Haneda Airport the next day. Staying at the Haneda Excel Hotel, could not have been easier or more convenient. Being literally connected to the Haneda Airport, simplified getting around in a foreign country. Room was great & very quiet - even though so close to the airport.

“Connected to Airport terminal. Very convenient.”

You can go directly to the hotel from Teminal 2 of Haneda Airport. Easy access. Quiet room. You do not hear the noise of airlines. Strobgly recommended.

“Great service!”

Haneda Hotel far exceeded my expectations on many levels. They provided great service in English and were always there to answer our questions. Travel and tourist information was available. The hotel itself was very clean and well kept. The only disadvantage about the hotel is the fact that it is not closer to downtown Tokyo. However, taking a train or monorail from the airport is remarkably easy and does not take very long. It's wonderfully convenient if your lights arrive and leave from Haneda airport. Overall I had a fabulous experience and I would certainly consider staying there again.

Area recommendations
Akihabara if you like technology, video games, and Manga. Tsukiji fish market to have delicious melts in your mouth sushi. Asakusa for souvenirs and temples, as well as the Asahi breweries. Mt. Fuji and Hakone for hiking and stellar views. It's recommended you book a tour to go. Tokyo Disney to relive your childhood, but avoid weekends as line ups can be as long as 2 hours. Imperial Palace gardens are beautiful and make for great iconic pictures of Tokyo. Tokyo Tower is another icon of Tokyo especially at night. The price can be a little steep and the lines can be long, so if you are on a tight budget, you can go to the World Trade buildings for free. The World Trade buildings have a great view of the whole city and Tokyo bay.
Getting around
If you plan on travelling a lot in Tokyo, I recommend a PASSMO or Suica card. It's a card you load with money and simply swipe on your way in or out of the subway. It saves a lot of time figuring out stations and distances. It can also be used on all Tokyo trains. The Tokyo metro can be very confusing in the beginning, but as long as you have a good map, travelling should be fine. Keep in mind that there are 4 kinds of trains: JR lines (Japan Rail), Private lines, subway lines, and Monorail lines. Stations are not always obvious either, but the Japanese are usually very helpful and will generally give you directions. The trains can also get very full during rush hour. So if you are claustrophobic you might really want to avoid the trains early in the morning or around dinner time. Taxi's are incredibly expensive, but if they are in your budget, then go for it. However, traffic jams can be bad during peak travels times. Buses are good and you can use your PASSMO card to pay for your fare, but bus stops are not always clearly indicated and do not expect bus drivers to speak English. Tour groups are a great way to get around and see all the sights in Tokyo and surrounding areas like Fuji and Hakone. Ask your hotel for tour information or you can drop by the Tokyo bus station located nea Diamon metro station.

Tama Zoo and Tokyo Sea Life Park are great for the whole family and they have a wide range of animals. Tokyo Disney to relive your childhood, but avoid weekends as line ups can be as long as 2 hours.

“Very convenient but a little pricey.”

We stayed at this hotel for the convenience of flying out of Haneda the following morning instead of in the evening. The hotel was quite satisfactory but a little on the expensive side, I suppose due to the location. We would stay there again if needed.

“Haneda Airport Hotel”

This hotel is right in the airport at Haneda. It works out great if you need to fly into Narita, transfer and leave the next day out of Haneda. Since it is only a bed for the night, I have not used the other facilities except the minibar, which has reasonable prices. The room itself is okay, but the price can be a little high - but typical of Tokyo.
