“Dai-ichi review Nov 2011”

We found this hotel on expedia and the location was fine. Unfortunately the person staying in the hotel before us must have had bad body odor because that's what the room smelled like! The hotel was packed so we stayed in the room. It was a double room for four people and it was small. Very small. The double beds were teeny. But that's also Japan. My friend who had a single room had a huge bed and his room was nice! The staff was very sweet and as accommodating as possible. Wonderfully polite. The breakfast downstairs was really over-priced and I wouldn't recommend it at all. You can find much cheaper in town. I don't think we'd stay here again.

“I will always go back”

The hotel is very well located, with different subway lines and trains nearby, clean, comfortable and with very good staff. I have not a single complaint to voice.

“You get what you pay for”

This was my 2nd stay at the Daiichi Hotel Annex and everything turned out as I had expected - service was efficient and the rooms, though a bit tired, were clean and efficient. Those not used to typical Japanese hotel rooms may find the rooms a little cramped. Nonetheless, the little extra was worth paying for relative to most of the typical budget hotels in Tokyo where the rooms were smaller and the check-in/out times were very restrictive.

Shimbashi area - close proximity of Ginza without the costs

“It is incovenient for non business travler.”

there used to be a small super market near by , but it is closed now. there is no place to get fresh fruit and sweet except Seven Eleven which does not carry fruit and cakes. No place to eat at evening for a woman but a lot of drinking places. I'll look for other hotels for his reason.

“Great Hotel!!!”

Nicely located close to Shimbashi station & close walking distance to Ginza. The room was clean and included free internet. Best part was that the staff spoke english and the hotel concierge was excellent for providing advice, directions or making bookings for restaurants. The next time I am in Tokyo will definitely stay here again!

“Will stay next time, too.”

Location of the hotel is one of the best --- close to train stations, direct access to airport limousine. Room was nice and clean. Air conditioning is satisfactory. I will stay next time I visit Tokyo.

Area recommendations

“wheres the pool....?”

Directly opposite train tracks which can be heard at nigh. This is a business hotel masquerading as a spa hotel. The swimming pool and fitness suite is in a seperate building and substantial charges apply. It is unfortunate that an image of a swimming pool which is not in the building is the main selling feature of the hotel. Staff are friendly, rooms are clean but overpriced.

“Definitely go back again!”

The hotel was a 3 minute walk from the Shimbashi JR station and Metro station, which is on the most commonly used Yamanote JR line. Very convenient location. We never had to take the cab since the JR or Metro gets us everywhere. Also, the hotel was a 5-minute walk from the shopping district of Ginza and a less than 15 minute walk to Tsukiji. The room was spacious in terms of Tokyo's standards. We had 3 pieces of luggages and there was plenty of space to store them. Free internet was a plus! Washroom was spacious as well and there was lots of countertop space and a bathtub. There was no luggage rack in the room but that wasn't an issue for us. There was an iron machine for pants but no iron, so that was a bit inconvenient. Overall we were very impressed with the hotel room and its location!

“We were impressed”

We were very pleased with our room and the few amenities we used (primarily laundry and room service). Due to the location, we probably wouldn't go back, but the hotel itself was wonderful.

Area recommendations
Shibuya as it is closer to night life.
When to go
Spring or fall...summer is very hot and humid.
What to pack
Umbrella if you go during the rainy season. Extra t-shirts if you go during the summer.

“LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION”

I have been living in Japan for 8 months and stayed at Dai Ichi hotel annex recently. It is in a GREAT location; you cannot beat it. Really close to Ginza, many places to eat within walking distance in all price ranges. I will stay here again on my next trip to Tokyo. I cannot recommend this hotel enough!!!!

Area:

Ginza, Tokyo, Japan: High on opulence and popularity, Ginza was one of the city's first districts to implement Western-style brick buildings and gas lamps. Set in the heart of the city, it is the place for those who don't mind crowds, and serious spenders. But it takes very little to see Asia's largest fish market, a traditional kabuki play, or the latest gadgets at the Sony building.
