“Budget and Exercise”
Budget-friendly, clean, neutrally comfortable. The park nearby or the walk to the nearest JR station will provide you with good exercise. Amenities are adequate and will provide you a peace of mind. Hotels staff are attentive and are fairly fluent in English.
“It's small, it smells and when you look outside the window.... you wonder if you are in tokyo”
It was very small, which was expected, it was in tokyo after all but it's not the case when you look out the window or when you look outside. I asked myself more than a few times, am i really in tokyo? If you are looking for any feel of Tokyo, don't stay here. You will be very disappointed. You will be shocked once you come out of the subway because of the neighborhood. Stay here if you don't care about the size, location (it is abt 5-10 mins walk from a subway station which is not directly connected to any major location except for Asakusa, if you want to go anywhere else, you would need to change subway again which means to pay for another fare), and it really smells. You don't have wifi in your room. the only place you can get wifi is in the lobby which is quite small. There's a computer that you can use but need to pay for every 10 mins. which is not cheap. One more thing about this hotel that really bothered us was the smoking rooms. Yes i know we were staying in a smoking room but the smoke smell was constantly coming in from the vents. I hope the other non smoking rooms were like that but i wouldn't know since i didnt' stay in one. I asked for a pillow and the staff didn't understand me.
“Horrible Place to Stay”
If your trying to hang out at Shibuya, Harajuku, Ueno, etc this is not an ideal place to stay at. The train line its near puts you far from everything. The hotel staff can also be very rude. I requested a non-smoking room which I got but made no sense because it still smelled like cigarettes. I can go on and on about this hotel but I don't recommend it to any one it seriously is a bad place to stay.
“Convenient location”
The hotel is just down the street from a subway stop and it only takes about 25 minutes to get to Shibuya or Shinjuku. The rooms are on the small side (as to be expected in Japan) but are very clean.
“Poor service and price gouging”
The hotel management was not accommodating to traveller needs. For instance, I arrived early after a long flight and had requested to check-in early. The hotel manager insisted I pay extra (1,000 yen) by the hour for each hour prior to check-in time (3pm). I found this a bit ridiculous given my room was ready and the hotel would not incur any extra costs associated with the request. The manager could not explain the policy and simply stated 'it is policy' although this policy was not published anywhere. The hotel had numerous price-gouging attributes such as charging for the small instant coffee packs and tea bags that are complimentary at every other discount hotel I have seen. The hotel is not conveniently located to get to the HND airport as advertised requiring use of both the metro and JR railway - the HND airport can be accessed from almost any location in Tokyo from either the JR railway or the metro (without having to use both). I stayed in three discount hotels throughout Japan and this was the only one that was very disappointing.
“Convenient, fair priced Tokyo hotel”
This hotel was very convenient for us. It was easy to reach from Tokyo Haneda airport by train and Metro, 5 mins. from the nearest Metro station. With easy access to a near by railway station and the Metro it was very convenient for exploring Tokyo. The hotel was clean and confortable. You can purchase breakfast each day or we you want it. We would definitely use it again if we go on holiday to Tokyo again.
“Perfect Tokyo hotel for the price as long as you just need a place to rest”
The hotel staff was very nice and the rooms, while fairly small (which is to be expected in Tokyo), were extremely clean and had plenty of room for one person (or even two) if all you wanted was a place to lay your head at night. For the price, it was fantastic. And since the hotel was only a five minute walk from the Tokyo Metro line, the location was perfect for anyone looking to travel around Tokyo, but stay at an extremely affordable hotel.
“Soi”
Don't be deceived by the outside image of this hotel. The rooms are actually nice and clean. The staff members are all very kind, helpful and are able to speak English. It's a good 10 minute walk from Nishi-oi station but you get to see the surrounding residential areas and the local people which is very nice. The subway station Nakanobu is 5 minutes away which is very convenient for getting to Asakusa to see Sensoji Temple, one of the hot sight-seeing places, as well as Ueno Park. There's a market nearby with lots of nice local restaurants. Why this is only a 2.5 star hotel I don't know? The rooms were very nice and so was the bathroom. This hotel is an excellent place to stay and excellent value!
“Comfortly good stay”
Its a good thing I got two beds because for two people in one bed they have to be extremely skinny to the point of just bones but two double beds are very comfortable. The people at the front desk are nice and English are better in some and some can improve but its good enough. They should have more variety in their vending machines but its great they have healthy drinks, I love it. Very nice floors and quiet so you don't really disturb others. It was great they have a refrigerator because it really helped during the trip and the water warmer is good to help cook instant noodles and make tea too!
“Everything Other than Location”
For what it cost us, the room and other facilities at the hotel were wonderful However, the location is a problem. Especially if you have a JR pass and want to walk to the hotel from Nishi-Oi (too far with suitcases). If this is the route you are going, take a Taxi. There are metro stations nearer the hotel, but this requires changes if you are coming in directly from Narita or other locations in Japan. Moreover, there are very few choices for food near the hotel (withing a 1km walk say)
