“Easy to locate, 5 minute walk from Hamamtsucho Station”

This was my second time in Japan. The first time I stayed at a hotel in Akasaka popular with tourists (i.e. fluent English speaking staff). I didn't think that having an English speaking staff would be necessary this time so I chose this hotel which is in a business district (located across from Toshiba's headquarters). Therefore the staff is not very good at English. Outside of the non-English speaking staff the hotel was very clean, affordable, and VERY easy to find (simply take the South exit from the station and walk down the covered ramp and once you get to the the first street light, just continue walking until you get to the hotel, in total it's about a 5-8 minute walk from the station to hotel). There is also a convenience store a minute away from the hotel.

“Great business hotel”

Nothing special, but nothing bad. Very good business hotel, but not close to Ropongi

“Not Impressed”

We requested a non- smoking room upon making reservations and double checked with the front desk upon check in. When we walked in, it smelled strongly of cigarettes and a scented spray to cover up the smoke. When we requested a different room and gave our complaint, we were told there were no other rooms available. We considered going to another hotel and my fiancee went to tell them we would check out unless a manager could accomodate us. After a ten minute wait, we were told there was not a manager on duty, but they could transfer us to another room. Other than that, the rest of the stay was no less than could be expected. Very good location, but somewhat hard to find without good directions.

“Already recommending to others!”

The staff was wonderful, there was always someone there who spoke English and they were very accommodating. We were very impressed with the cleanliness of the room; typical small Japanese business hotel, but it was still very nice. Lovely restaurant downstairs. If your going to be traveling for a while, its great they have self laundry service (coin laundry). Easy to get around Tokyo from here, too.

Must see
If you exit the opposite end of the train station than going to this hotel, there is an entire street of restaurants and the Tokyo Tower. Beautiful at night!

“Tokyo's reasonable business hotel”

Hotel Chisun is very well located, close to the train station. The room is small but comfortable. It was cleaned every day, but unfortunately not under the beds. But generally looks fine and we've been satisfied to stay there. 5 minutes walk to the train station and also to the bus terminal, where all tours start from. You don't need to use other means of transport to start your every day trips/tours.

Area recommendations
It's worth to go to most of the tours recommended by tour operators located at the bus terminal in Hamamatsucho. Nikko World Herritage Tour, Kamakura walking tour, Mt Fuji and City Rama day tour - were excellent. Please remember to ask for the tour with English speaking guide. We did also individual tour to Yokohama (35 min by train). It's beutiful harbour city with a superb view from Yokohama Tower.
When to go
The best time to go there is April/May or September/October

“Great Hotel, not a tourist location”

This hotel was exactly what I expected. The hotel was clean, the staff was courteous, the rooms were small compared to America's hotels, but all in all I would definitely recommend it. The walk to the train station was only 10 minutes and you would walk through a nice tree lined walkway. The area isnt for tourists but everything is a short train ride, no more than 10 minutes to any of the big tourist areas. I preferred to stay a little out of the way.

Getting there
Get off at the hamamatsucho train station. Take the south exit and follow the pathway. You'll pass a few buildings and cross one street. The hotel will be on your right a little ways past the convenience store.

“Just a place to crash”

We were staying in Tokyo for a week to do some exploring before we moved back to Australia. So for just a place to crash, its great. But the room was too small, even for Tokyo standards, we could barely fit our baggage in the room. The restaurant closed at 9pm rather than the advertised 11, which made it impossible for us to eat there. It cost 1000 yen to access the movie channels and other than BBC, there isn't any other English channels. However from the Hotel Tokyo is only 6 minutes away. The hotel isn't very far from the station, but impossible to negotiate with luggage, however a taxi to the hotel is only 700 yen. There are a number of restaurants close by and a sunkus on the corner.

When to go
The best time to go is during the last week of March and the first two weeks of April, if you'd like to see the sakura (cherry blossoms) in full bloom.
Getting there
The best way to get to the hotel is to take the JR Yamanote Line to Hamamatsucho station, follow the directions to the taxi rank and take a taxi.
Getting around
Train is the best way to get around, luckily Hamamatsucho is on the Yamanote line, hence Shibuya, Tokyo, Ueno, Akihabara, Harajuku and Shinjuku are only a 10-20 minute train ride away
Must see
Tokyo Tower, which is located close by.
Dining
Small Izakaya provide the best food for reasonably cheap and are a good place to sample Japanese food, sake and sho-chu
Nightlife
Go to Shibuya for the best night life, located in the love hotel region

“Room small but service was good.”

The room was small, but the staff was very helpful. Before I arrived, I contacted the staff via emails asking for direction from the airport. The staff gave me a few options, and wrote down a sentence in Japanese to ask the Taxi driver to go to the hotel. I printed out and showed it to the taxi driver at the train station. It took less than 10 minutes walk from the hotel to the Hamamashu-cho train station. The room was clean. There was a small laundry facility on site. There was a 24-hour convenience store with snacks and drinks around the corner, less than 1 minute walk away. If you want to shop at a bigger convenience store, it was right across from the hotel and less than 2 minutes walk. I found this hotel's location very convenient. Even though I did not spend much time dining or shopping at this area, I liked to take the train to the major shopping areas and everything was about 15 to 30 minutes train ride which was not so bad. The train track was right next to the rooms. I thought it would be noisy, but the window treatments were pretty effiecient to reduce the noise.

Area recommendations
The bus terminal is at the Hamamashu-cho train station which is less than 10 minutes walk from the hotel. Many tour buses take off from this terminal. We took the one-day trip to Hakone, and took the bus from this station.
