The resort was always clean. The staff very friendly and every night was entertainment. The limbo and singers were splendid. The beachfront was beautiful and the food was always to die for. Spent 3 nights with my daughter in law and this is her third and my second. We'll definitely return. Ideal for couples and families.

The beachfront was adequately maintained.However the beach chairs and tables were dirty and broken . The rooms were poorly cleaned. The bathroom fixtures needed proper cleaning. The price for dinner is overly priced for the value and quality of the food served. The staff is very courteous and helpful. The breakfast is amazing and the nightly entertainment is mediocre.. The resort has a lot of potential to be a five star.. investment is needed to realize it's potential

The pool is the highlight of the property. Rooms need urgent updating, dining menu is limited (no allocation for vegetarians or vegans), stray animals on the property. Some staff are extremely friendly while some need extensive customer service training!

Thank you for posting your review and rating on what the hotel offers, and we will use your comments to guide our efforts in the various departments to influence the necessary improvements.For clarification, we do cater to vegetarians and vegans once it is brought to our attention. Our Chef will meet with the guest to plan a particular menu offering based on guest preferences. The issue with stray dogs on the beach, in particular, is one the hotel has been working with the local animal shelter to sort out. We are caught between a rock and a hard place, with hotel guests encouraging the dogs by feeding and petting them. The hotel will continue in its efforts to keep the dogs off the beach. We would agree that the hotel is not of a modern structure and design, and albeit it offers a true 80/90 Caribbean hotel charm, and we are working to improve where necessary. I enjoyed everything about this hotel the last time I stayed here (February 2023), however it was not the same this time around (December 2023). Service was not as good, food options were limited and rationed. A lotta times certain foods ran out and we were just told there is t anymore. Long lines to get food, had to wait for plates, beach towels. Just overall terrible. I recommended here to so many people because of my initial stay but I’ll have to give them a rest for a really long time or find some place else. I’m not sure if they could not handle to capacity of guests that checked in for the Christmas season. Starfish please fix asap

This is our third stay at starfish. There has been many updates since our first stay in early 2022. Room was clean and bed was very comfortable. WiFi was good throughout hotel. Food was delicious. Both restaurants were excellent. Noticed many new staff. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. We loved the addition of the covered seating areas by the pool. We met a new manager at the managers event. Very nice touch! It was obvious that he had done a great job making positive changes. He was so polite and pleasant towards us. We absolutely loved our stay.

The property was accommodating however my expectations were misled by the advertising of what to expect. My understanding to be treated as an exceptional guest you must invest in an all inclusive package which I’m never interested in I like the freedom of moving around, I wouldn’t rate the resort as one of the worst but staffing improvements are needed. I was very dissatisfied with my stay there. After waiting over 3 hours to check in, the hotel was unable to confirm that I had already paid for my trip. The receptionist insisted they were not contacted by Expedia in any way, only to say 4 hours later that their phone was down and they could not be contacted. I therefore had to pay for my stay twice! Upon check out the hotel was still unable to confirm any contact from expedia. Contrary to the description, there was no wifi in the rooms or anywhere else, except for the lobby. The running water was yellow and smelled of sewage, so did the toilets. The sink took overnight to empty even though the water pressure was incredibly low and the shower handle was broken and squinting water im every direction. They did not even provide hand towels and beach towels required a deposit. If you did not purchase the all inclusive pass, you could not purchase drinks at the bar, you had to pay at reception and then return to the bar or leave your card open for the duration of your stay instead of being able to charge to your room. The check in staff was incredibly rude and really gave the Tobago trip a terrible start. The only redeeming thing about the hotel was the beach, the natural beauty is hard to compete with. Also if you're a vegetarian you will starve there. They will not serve any meals to your room, nor are you allowed to take any hotel meals up to your room.

We do apologize for the discomfort experienced upon check-in; however, the delay was mainly because the payment had to be made at the resort on check-in. This is the initial and follow-up information received from Expedia. Once this was sorted out, you were issued your room. The hotel policy clearly states that all reservations must come with confirmed payment before or on arrival at the resort. So based on all of the above, you were not charged twice for your stay.We do apologize for the lack of WiFi access, which is caused by weaker signal strength in some of the rooms. This is presently being addressed with the service provider to have this sorted out.The issue you mentioned about the water quality is correct, but unfortunately, this was the water being supplied by WASA at the time, not only to the hotel but to the general community. Hence, later, we had to shut off the lines coming from WASA and open our reserve tanks.The issue highlighted with the plumbing was investigated and proven to be true. We would like to apologize for the lack of attention to detail on the part of our maintenance team. This has been addressed very firmly with our Maintenance Supervisor. For clarification, the hotel does not offer cashing services at the food and beverage outlets to control payments. Hence, just like all international hotels, a standard deposit is taken on arrival to cover any incidental charges incurred. In your case, there was no deposit taken, so there was no credit facility.While we do apologize for not meeting the requirements of your vegetarian needs, we also express our surprise that the products were not made available to you, especially if you had brought to our attention that you are vegetarian.We do offer room service at a minimum charge; however, when guests are having meals in the restaurant, we do encourage them that all meals taken in the restaurant must be consumed in the restaurant.Once again, we would like to thank you for the opportunity and apologize for any inconvenience and discomfort experienced.Regards,Leslie

Great stay option for a getaway all inclusive or breakfast inclusive. Food was tasty, resort was well maintained. Drinks were fine. Most staff were nice and my favorite member of staff would’ve been the omlet chef as she was kind, interactive and very warm and welcoming. Also shout out to the assistant manager for taking an international step to provide free breakfast for an early check in. That somehow set the tone for the staycation!

I enjoyed my stay at Starfish Tobago; however, there is NO internet unless you are in the lobby (or maybe a room close to the lobby), also it is very far from all of the action of town and even the next closest bar is too far to walk. If you stay here, I recommend renting a car or preparing to pay for a taxi everywhere you go. The facilities were nice otherwise. I very much enjoyed my stay. It is a VERY quiet resort, so if you are looking for a lot of entertainment, or any at all, this is not the resort for you.

For one, check in is from 3 PM onwards , that means you can get the room anytime after 3 pm until 12 midnight? Unacceptable. We got the room at 4PM. The restaurant staff were very discourteous. All we asked was an extra cutlery and the waitress had to say something like "Didnt we already set up the table?" In a very brusque manner. They should not be in the hospitality industry

The hotel is falling apart. It needs a lot of renovations. Not sure if this hotel and staff knows about international standard. I do not recommend at all!

That said, the hotel is not of a modern structure or design but carries a true 80/90 Caribbean charm, which falls into the category of a basic 3-star hotel. The breakfast options did not taste good and was not a wide variety. The room conditions were old and dirty. The walk to the room was too far and long. Overall not a pleasant stay.

Thank you for sharing your review, and we apologize for any inconvenience experienced. For clarification, there was no renovation during your stay other than the normal maintenance and remedial work being carried out in terms of refreshing the outlets, painting, and deep cleaning. In the case of D'Bay Grill in particular, where some remedial work was being carried out for two days, the full compliment of the menu was being offered at the Courlanders Deck. All other meals were served in the Courlanders as usual.It was unfortunate and unforeseen, but we did have a few challenges with staffing attendance, which affected the efficiency of the bar service. This has been addressed with our Food and Beverage manager to ensure that the necessary cover is provided in the future should this reoccur.Once again, thank you for opportunity afforded. Come for the beach, stay for the sunsets.
I was nervous to book this place when I read the reviews but I'm so glad I decided to make the reservation. I did have to wait until after 3 to check in but I was prepared for that with the reviews. It was quite hot in the lobby area but it is to be expected in Tobago during a heat advisory, I put my mini fan to work and endured through it. The place could do with an upgrade/facelift but it was clean and the location couldn't be better for beach bums like me. A few steps from your room and the sea/sand awaits you. The sound of the waves crashing was present all day and night and was incredibly relaxing. And those SUNSETS?!?! GORGEOUS! The AC in the rooms struggled to deal with the heat during the day at times but it was still a break from the heat when coming in from outside. The wifi also was pretty weak in the rooms but that didn't bother me as I had mobile service. I booked the room only option for the weekend as I planned to be out and about alot but complimentary breakfast was convenient and filling and food from D bar and grill was delicious!! Overall I thoroughly enjoyed my weekend there. If you're looking for luxury then this isn't for you, but if you appreciate island vibes and a great beach then take a chance on Starfish.
