Nice hotel, close to town, walking distance but has car park. Food is impressive, service great. Two minor gripes are the annexed doors which are fiddly and the shower room as opposed to a bath. But overall very good

"Small and very pleasant hotel in the town centre"
I was given a large, very comfortable and fully modernised room which, despite being above the pub, was very quiet. A good range of toiletries was provided and the room was cleaned to an extremely high standard. Breakfast has to be paid for separately but is well worth the cost, especially the bacon sandwich which is one of the best I have ever eaten. The hotel could not be more centrally located in Thurso, between the Co-op supermarket and the main shopping street. The staff were friendly and helpful.
I stayed for 3 nights in a single room. Very good size for single with en-suite large bathroom. Some tired decor in halls and room but fine. Very good cleaning..not intrusive. Breakfast very nice. Was at quieter time of year. Even so, rooms would benefit from double glazing to limit noise of road. Hotel welcomed several builders on projects during week. Slightly noisy therefore at night and early mornings. Staff fine; mostly helpful and welcoming. Internet accessible everywhere it seemed...except my room....oh. and the lift. A carpeted wonder of debatable quality. It may be histrical etc...just... use the stairs. Great for a few days and great price just dont expect luxury accom for that price.
Whilst the hotel might lack a little in first kerb appeal, don't be put off because inside waits a warm welcome from really friendly staff and management trying very hard to make your stay comfortable and relaxed. Rooms are warm and clean, food is first class and breakfasts especially are great. Yes there's ongoing work to be done in places to keep the old building up to date but equally, much has been achieved already and despite any imperfections the overall experience is very good value for money.
Thurso lies at the tip of the Scottish Highlands and is the most northerly town on the British mainland. Watersport fans can join locals at the reef at Thurso East, Scotland's prime surfing venue and host to many international competitions. Just 2.4 km from the port of Scrabster, visitors can hop on a ferry and explore the rolling landscape and extensive coastline of the beautiful Orkney Islands.
