Extremely disappointed and frustrating
Firstly, the hotel pool is closed for maintenance - not mentioned on the website or in any emails. Secondly, our room smelt of cigarette smoke (especially the bathroom, which was generally grubby and very dated) and the smell was worse after the room was "serviced". The main issue was how unhelpfully the staff handled an issue about laundry service. We needed to wash some clothes but when we asked about this, the reception told us they didn't do laundry (despite it saying the opposite on the Hotels.com page). The next morning, we were told that actually they did do laundry and they would get it back to us the next evening. However, after an hour of nagging the reception desk that evening, the man who claimed to be the manager, arrived with our still-dirty clothes. They refused to offer any discount/refund other than a free dinner (this happened at half 9 so we'd already eaten) or a 3 minute taxi to the train station. Overall, they did not take our issues seriously and misrepresented their facilities online.

Fantastic and cooperative staff. Food offered is good. Bar is really affordable. As I could not climb the stairs due to excessive heat; front desk came down to deliver my luggage and settle the bill. Beautiful gesture. Was offfered discounts at every spend was again a Pleasent surprise especially at the buffet dinner. Chef made some good onion snacks. Very good for business as well as family stay

When I arrived at the hotel It was very dark at the reception counter and I had to wake up the desk person to ck me inn ....... I was not comfortable going up to my room but at 1am in the morning I had no other choice but to go up to my room. I couldn’t stay there longer cause I went to the bathroom and it was full of flies ..... so I took quick shower and cked out with in two hours .

Short stay
The check in process was very cumbersome and given language issues added to the same. The room size was decent, however the furniture is very old and not maintained. The washroom had a foul smell and needed maintenance. The linen was old and smelling too. Overall not a hotel I recommend. The service at the restaurant was very slow.

Well located hotel.
Staff make this hotel good and service and helpfulness are strong points. Just one niggle: the piped music is repetitive and awful. Let's have some classical Indian music!

Close to atttractions yet relatively quiet.
We had a lovely welcome at 05.00 and were shown quickly to our room. The room was as expected, clean and spacious and with a/c which kept us cool. The hotel is centrally located for attractions and shops but in a back road which was relatively quiet, away from road noise. All staff were lovely: very polite and helpful. The restaurant food was delicious at breakfast, lunch and dinner and was clearly prepared carefully for everyone’s well-being. The rooftop pool was refreshing and where else can you swim with kites flying right over your head? I think we had borrowed their drinking pool for a while and they were checking us out! Overall, a good choice to acclimatise after a flight and although slightly overpriced I would not hesitate to return, especially as the food was good value for money.

Great one night stay
Location to train station is excellent. Rooftop pool is a unique facility here in Trivandrum where swimming below hovering eagles was an amazing experience. Room was spacious and met all needs. Staff were attentive and efficient in helping us on our forward journey (thanks to Ambali). Restaurant offered a wide choice for buffet breakfast.

Great hotel at budget price
Classic Sarovar was a refreshing change to the other budget hotels we'd already stayed in during our trip around India. For the amenities and the look of the hotel, I would have expected to pay a lot more. The hotel was near the train station, so we didn't have to pay for additional taxis to get us there. The free breakfast was delicious and the wifi in the rooms worked well. We used the pool once and it was absolutely refreshing after a long day of siteseeing. There were also plenty of stores and restaurants within walking distance, so we always had something to do. There was also a nice little bar in the basement with reasonably priced beers where hung out a few times. The bathrooms in the rooms were a little outdated, but everything was in working condition so we couldn't complain. I'd would definitely come back here if we ever visit the area again.

Newly renovated and nicely decorated!
Improvements continue to be made since we were last there. More Staff speak English, the rooftop pool is beautifully maintained, the restaurant has some of the best breakfast buffets and dinners in India, the linens on the beds and the towels are very white and soft. Construction on the street outside has been finished, so it's much easier to walk to local shopping. Close distance to both bus and train stations. Staff are very helpful and friendly.

Good business class hotel in Trivandrum
On arrival, it seemed I was an unexpected guest even though I had booked my 3 night stay (and paid in full!) about 9 months ago. I showed the hotel email confirmation and they took a copy. Even then, on the second day, the hotel called me asking when I was going to check out - that day! Again, I showed them my email confirmation which, as I say, they had already copied. For about a third of my stay, there was no internet connection. To someone like me, who relies on the internet for many things (including travel), this was very inconvenient. My room had 2 beds but they were far narrower than in most comparable hotels. Apparently, the hotel transport to Trivandrum Airport costs Rs 800. I travelled by auto rickshaw for Rs 200 and even then, as a foreign tourist, I imagine I was overcharged. At all times, the hotel staff were polite, friendly and helpful - treating me, I felt, as an individual and not just as a number. Maybe because I was travelling alone, I particularly valued the attention they gave me. The hotel is, generally, in very good condition (including the rooftop pool). Trivandrum Central railway station is nearby - about Rs 20 by auto rickshaw. Overall, I would say this is a good business class hotel with the facilities (eg gym, pool, bar & restaurant) to make one's stay enjoyable. Room facilities include a/c, satellite TV, a fridge, a free daily newspaper and a bottle of water.

A nice place to go.
I went to Classic Avenue after I landed in TRV. It was a very nice hotel and I enjoyed my stay there.The rooms were clean and comfortable and the staff was very helpful. The breakfast buffet was very good. I would stay there again. It was close to nice shopping and the train station.

Trivandrum city stopover.
Spent 4 nights here as final leg of 3 week stay in India. Hotel is very conveniently located: short tut tut rides to museum, art gallery, temples, specialist shopping markets. Twenty minute ride to the most beautiful beaches! Staff very helpful with advice re directions and prices to pay taxis and tut tuts. Start day with breakfast buffet with great choice of cooked dishes or fresh fruits, sightsee all day, back for refreshing dip in beautifully clean and refreshing rooftop pool, eat in (recommend great value buffet evening meal) or eat out - the city offers great choice and feels friendly when wandering about.
