I can't rate this highly enough. The garden rooms are wonderful. Loved the heated floor in the gorgeous bathroom. Facilities in the room include a cafetiere and ground coffee, and fresh milk in the fridge. Really comfortable bed. Liked the remote control for the blinds, and the patio doors to your private outside seating area. It would be good to come in the winter time and use the log effect fire in the room. Excellent food in the restaurant and great breakfast. We would definitely recommend it and will go again.
With just being a few minutes off the A1 this could put people off but at the pub it felt like you were totally in the middle of the countryside. Rainton is a lovely small village. And whilst it is a pub we weren't disturbed when we retired even though it was fairly early. There is a dining room and a bar area. In the morning we had our breakfast in the dining room and although you could eat there in the evening we chose to eat in the bar area as it had such a good atmosphere. Well attended by locals who were all friendly and chatted with everyone. The food here is wholesome and lovely with generous portions. And the chips were fab! It's well attended by non residents for food who were happy to wait as it is so popular with diners.
We were in the twin room which was very clean and had everything we needed. There was plenty of hot water. The shower was fine but over the bath which could be problematic if you had mobility problems.
The pub is well run and all staff were amazing. The waitresses were the best I've come across for ages being just really nice and friendly and doing a great job. The food was just sooooo lovely. All hot food served on hot plates as it should be.
Have left this place thinking 'What a find'. Would not hesitate to stay here again as it was so relaxed, friendly, clean, reasonably priced and great food.
This is a down to earth traditional country pub where you can stay - great!
If there is a ghost no wonder he hangs out here!
We were greeted by the owner and her very friendly well behaved dog as we parked the car and immediately made to feel welcome. The room was clean and comfortable and every effort had been made to make sure we had just what wen wanted - even a phone call that morning to check whether we required a double bed or twin beds. Breakfast was excellent - a most pleasant stay.
My second time of staying here. A really good, clean and comfortable place to stay - off-street parking. About a 10 minute walk to the centre of Thirsk. Great Yorkshire breakfast. Tea/coffee etc facilities in the room plus complementary bottle of water and sweets each day. Would thoroughly recommend.
