The hotel is 2 mins walk from Barbican tube station which is on the circle line (2 stops from Kings Cross) which goes to most of the tourist places in the centre of London. St Pauls Cathedral is a short walk away. The rooms are lovely, (each with a coffee machine!) the bar and restaurant are also very good. If you are booking through Expedia - double check if you are expecting breakfast to be included, we thought it was but this had not been communicated to the hotel. This was sorted out later with Expedia.
This hotel is really set up for couples but they do accommodate children too.
Would definitely stay here again.
The hotel is right off the Tower station and within walking distance are an absolutely rocking Indian restaurant and Thai restaurant - both concierge recommendations.
The room we got was an upgrade with a balcony, and was quite spacious, a nice contrast to what we stayed in in Paris. and the view was spectacular. The A/c was a bit spotty (it was warm) but not bad enough to complain.
Restaurants in the hotel were nice and the Isis bar was beautiful.
We are planning on staying there again when in London. Worth the spend!!
Normally I don't write reviews but my daughter and myself had a great overnight stay at the Cheval.
Service was fantastic and we got a view overlooking Tower Bridge and the Tower of London.
Was just a fantastic experience and made our 2 day trip to London an even better experience.
I loved this place! If you like perfect and sanitised corporate style hotels, then you won't like it here.
The rooms are all quirky and unique- I had Sophie Rood on the top floor. The best big soaking bath ever, plus quite a big room for London. No lift though, so be warned!
The staff were all uniformly excellent, friendly and knowledgeable.
It is a touch difficult to find, but once you're in you are welcomed with a rare-to-find honour bar, in front of a fire with complimentary cake in the afternoons.
A 25-30 minute walk to the Tower of London and there are lots of other museums and other things to stay interested and within walking distance of pretty much everything else if you're active.
I will definitely be back and recommend it to everyone I know visiting London!!!
I stayed at 196 Bishopsgate with my two daughters on our recent trip to London. The staff were so friendly and helpful. The apartment was superb, well appointed and very clean. An extra bed was placed in the living room as there were three of us. It was comfortable and not in our way. There were clear instructions for all the appliances. The location was ideal. We had arrived from Stanstead on the coach and the stop was almost directly opposite the apartment. We were able to walk quickly down to areas where we could pick up the hop on, hop off bus for our sightseeing. We thought it might be noisy being near Liverpool Street Station but our apartment was to the back of the building, with no noise at all. We felt very safe and secure as the entrance was secure and manned by staff at all times. The room was well cleaned during our visit. I would certainly re-book here for future visits to London and highly recommend the place to anyone else.
The Business District's rich history encompasses dozens of ancient churches and monuments, the atmospheric Inns of Court, the Museum of London, and the Tower of London. Convenient for business travellers, it offers top quality lunchtime dining and historic pubs.
