After completing a week long volunteer project in Chitwan, I splurged on two nights at the Yak & Yeti to recharge. It lived up to my expectation. The rooms were well appointed, modern and clean. The free, high-speed wi-fi was an added bonus in a city that has sporadic Internet access. The food at the sunrise cafe, pool side and The Chimney restaurant was excellent and well priced. The staff was very helpful, contacting me to arrange transport to the airport. As an added bonus I had a wonderful massage in the hotel spa.
I loved everything about the Royal Penguin. The location is right in the heart of things and that does mean there is some noise from the street but pick a room on the upper floors and it won't bother you.
The rooms are very comfortable, western style beds (that means thick mattresses!) All spotlessly clean. The staff go out of their way to help and the experience of being a guest is first class.
It's worth using their excellent pick up service from the airport as we found other taxi services to be unreliable and use very poor vehicles.
All in all a first class experience.
Incredible Newari architecture and wood carvings. Room 104 was courtyard-facing and everything in fine working order. Mineral water always available in the brass jugs. Wifi connection excellent wherever you are on hotel grounds. Best part about hotel was the restaurant--super inspired to recreate their shikarni, as well as the fried potatoes and wild boar. Totally recommend. Staff was also quite wonderful and accommodating.

"Delighted for choosing Friends Home for Honeymoon"
They welcomed us on our Honeymoon with a flower decorated room. Exceeded our expectations by making exceptions by serving us complimentary tea/coffee in our room. The staff was courteous, never asked for tips. The complimentary Wi-Fi was great. The reception guy even called for us to India and did not charge us anything. Next time we are in Kathmandu this would be our hotel. The buffet breakfast was great, especially the courteous staff.
We stayed in Deluxe Suite for 2 nights, rooms are excellent, courteous staff, good facilities and restaurants. We tried dinner at one of the restaurant and the food was delicious. One of the v good hotel with centrally located on Durbar Marg.
