The most amazing hotel we have ever stayed in,anywhere in the world. Being here in this restored Benedictine Monastery is an experience we shall never forget. Family owned and run nothing is too much trouble. Our room for three nights was incredible, apparently all 19 rooms are different, ours had an old stone fireplace and stone cubby holes with a wooden and beamed ceiling, just as it was when a Monks cell in the 15th century. The views out across the valley from the cell like windows were stupendous. Eating breakfast in the sun drenched cloisters was a wonderful way to start the day. The restaurant although physically a part of the building is a seperate entity, owned and managed by a couple of ladies who are obviously foodies of the highest order. Each night we had something different, beautifully cooked and presented, all local produce. The peace and tranquility was something to be believed, a 9th century church as part of the buildings, added to this sense of wonderment and provided an answer to why Monks would choose to live here, miles from anywhere. If you want peace you will find it here big style!

If you want an escape this is the place. Its a bed and breakfast with only 5 rooms but each are different and unique in there own way. They all have there own personal/private terrace or balcony. Its right below the town and a walkway leads right up to it with great restaurants. You feel special here not just like any hotel. Very peaceful too.

"Historic Hotel about 10 minutes from Old Orvietto"
Stayed one night in this elegant Historic Hotel. It is convenient to visit old Orvietto if you have a car. The Hotel rooms are spacious and furnished with period pieces. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The Hotel has a restaurant featuring local recipes and well attended by locals as well as Hotel guests. There are extensive grounds and a swimming pool to relax after a busy day sight seeing. Breakfast featured home made cakes and pastries.

Don't expect much from the room itself. It is very, very basic. But it was clean as can be and very comfortable. The hotel was very charming. Great, helpful, friendly staff. Adorable hotel! Fantastic cafe that looks RIGHT AT the gorgeous Duomo. I mean, you will NEVER get a better location in Orvieto. In fact, there is a TV commercial right now for a pharmaceutical product about a woman going to Italy. We are QUITE certain parts of it were filmed right from the windows of this hotel. So.. you can sit at this Hotel Virgilio cafe and have a glass of wine after a long day. And a cafe just down the way has live music... Just loud enough to enjoy, but not too loud. Continental breakfast in the lower level was lovely. Bottom line, I can't get this place put of my system. Not because of the room, but because it is a charming, Italian, lovely little place in an amazing location of one of my favorite towns in the entire world. I will be back to Orvieto, and I will not stay anywhere except this hotel.

For a wonderful romantic get away, I would recommend this hotel. If you are travelling with teenagers not so much. The Hotel is a little remote and you will need a car for sight seeing. The whole experience was wonderful. Loved the food and the staff was fantastic.

This is a lovely B&B just down the hill from the centre of Orvieto. Daniele, the owner was ver friendly and helpful - giving us a ride up to the town centre whenever we needed to go there, and he and his staff were very accommodating. The hotel is lovely, the rooms are quite large and clean, and the washrooms were very modern. We would recommend this place highly.
