Terezvaros is one of Budapests most central districts. Nagymezo utca, the citys version of Broadway, is lined with cafes, wine bars, and theatres, including the Municipal Operetta Theatre. The oldest metro line in continental Europe runs below ground in this district. Originally constructed in 1896 and revamped to celebrate its 100th anniversary, the line is still in use today.
