5 day stay

Posted 26-Apr-2015
Pros: The staff and the local.
Cons: Food
This hotel is classed as 5 stars. It would not attain that in the UK but for the most part was worthy of a good 4 star rating. The staff were all attentive and well presented, very helpful and effective in all that was requested. The building and facilities were all very good and well apportioned. We had a villa which had a balcony and a spa bath on the roof which was excellent The buffet breakfast was at best OK for quality but very good on choice. Coffee always cold. Buffet dinner as we chose half board poor. We ate 3 nights out of 5 at the hotel and went elsewhere on 2 occasions for better food. Not what would be expected at this level. Would we go there again? Yes but not at this price level there are equivalent hotels in the same local at much less expense

Luxushotel mit sehr gutem Service

Posted 19-Apr-2015
Pros: Gesamteindruck, Sauberkeit und sehr aufmerksamer Service
Cons: Nein
Location: Erhöhte Lage auf Felsen, ca. 5-10 min zum Sandstrand, etwas länger zu Supermarkt (24h/7d offen) bzw. zu einem Shopping Center.
Sehr geräumiges Zimmer, super Blick aufs Meer, sauber. Reichhaltiges Frühstücksbüffet, das keine Wünsche offen lässt Ebenso abends reichhaltiges Büffet mit wechselnden Themen, inkl. Kinderbüffet Sehr schöne Aussenanlagen, tolle Pools. Alles sehr gepflegt. Einziger Kritikpunkt: etwas hellhörig

Pros: Quiet, unfussy but what you would expect from a 5* hotel
Cons: Will start to look a bit shabby soon (stayed at same hotel 5 years ago and think it will need to be refreshed soon).
Excellent hotel. Staff are really friendly, communal areas and rooms are spacious, plenty of beds / towels by the pool.

Excellent hotel, great staff

Posted 05-Apr-2015
Pros: Staff were excellent; hotel had lots of facilities (modern gym, spa, library). Quiet location.
Cons: Restaurants a little pricey for dinner. Maybe have a less formal option. Appreciate that this may not be in line with the hotel standards.
Location: Near to fanabe area (restaurants, bars) but you need to be physically able for the hilly walk back -or prepared to get taxis back to the hotel.
Booked a room with sea view and were pleasantly surprised on check in to be upgraded to a villa with private garden and jacuzzi. Hotel has great facilities including a gym and spa. Several pools with lots of options and space for relaxing inside if it's too hot. Dress code for restaurants required trousers for dinner. Restaurants quite pricey for dinner; poolside restaurant for lunch is less formal (shorts are ok) and less pricey. Staff were a real highlight-genuinely friendly and helpful throughout our weeks stay- lots of small professional touches make a difference to the overall experience. Hotel is located away from main beach area (fanabe) so be prepared (and able) to walk down the hill into town for shops and restaurants. Taxi fare is around €5 each way to main restaurants at fanabe beach. Would return to this hotel without hesitation next time to explore the island with a hire car.

Elegant luxury hotel which exceeded expectations

Posted 29-Mar-2015
Pros: Style, breakfast, spa, staff
Cons: Some early morning noise outside our room when trucks of various sorts arrived was a little irritating.
Location: Hotel w as situated at the top of a fairly steep hill, but within easy walking distance of some excellent restaurants.
Staff could not have been more helpful in this elegant luxury hotel. We had a large room on the ground floor which overlooked the town. The breakfast buffet was truly excellent. The spa was equally high class. There was no shortage of sun loungers or pool towels when we visited. The hotel was situated at the top of a farily steep hill, which might make it unsuitable for people with limited mobility.

Colonial style hotel, spacious.

Sixth visit here speaks for itself. Luxurious use of space. Longer-serving staff still excellent, especially Caddy. Food improved, excellent on Gala night. New cleaners not as good as previous ones. Disappointed that swimming pool hoist was out of action for entire fortnight.

Quiet hotel but a bit dull

Posted 08-Mar-2015
Pros: Well kept communal areas, and the interior courtyard for dining
Location: It's up hill from the best beach in the area, Plaja del Duque, but the exercise welcome.
To be fair this is a lovely hotel, with lovely communal areas. The staff were always attentive, and nothing was too much trouble, including searching for the guardian (although alas to no avail, the times had to do). Apparently we had an upgrade but we got what we paid for- superior room with sea view, which is worth the extra. Being half board drinks not included, and water is 4.2 Euro, so beware of add ons, but overall the food was good, breakfast especially. There is absolutely nothing to do in the evenings after dinner so a taxi is required to get anywhere for a bit of life. Also recommend a car for travelling around; the hotel can arrange and the hire car company picks you up to take to their office although not the most competitively priced.
