A gem
This hotel is a real gem. A long way up the mountain and away from the masses, perfect peace. The spa was bigger than expected and comprehensive as were the treatments. The only thing I would say is there is a pan Asian theme to the food but with some dishes not hitting the mark. Staff very friendly and our room fabulous. Great for trekking!

Relaxing mountain location with great facilities
Relaxing stay at VillAlba for hiking nearby. Hotel grounds are very well maintained, great views down to the coast. Spa facilities are amazing after a day hiking. Breakfast very good. Only area of improvement is dinner - menu is a bit strange (Asian style rather than Spanish/rustic) and service could be a bit slow. Some nice small restaurants in Vilaflor a 10-15min walk away
View to coast from path to Vilaflor, a few mins from hotel by foot

Beautiful, quiet hotel halfway up Tiede
Great quiet place to stay away from the resorts on the coast. Friendly, helpful staff, big rooms, decent breakfast. Spa would benefit from the temperatures of the pool/jacuzzi being turned up a bit, especially in winter.

Disappointed.
This is a traditional older hotel and Swiss in style. The spa pool is needing return, cracked roof and very cold! The jacuzzi was too full to use otherwise there are 2 saunas a cold dip pool and showers. Nothing great about it really. The general outside areas of the hotel were a little run down too. The room overlooked the front of the hotel with no view and on to a road. The table on the balcony was full of cigarette ash! The restaurant was ok but the service terrible. We waited 25 mins after being given the dessert menu before walking out. Food ok. Village is very basic.

A beautiful and peaceful hotel in the hills
When we arrived we were in formed by reception that due to a problem in our room it was not available for the first night. We were booked into another hotel in a town about 6 miles away. On the following day we returned and the room was lovely with balcony views of the woodland/garden. Again the lady receptionist was apologetic and offered us a free meal in the restaurant. Further to this there was a lovely bottle of Carva in our room. Our stay coincided with valentines day and the hotel was decked out in hearts and lovely banners. On our return to the room after breakfast a red rose and chocolates had been left by the cleaning staff. We had the evening meal which was valentines based and the Carva and passion fruit drink on arrival was a nice touch. Although our stay had been foreshortened by one night we realised what a great place it is to stay after comparing it to the other hotel. Very good access for disabled guests. Also being a parent I liked the idea of no kids rushing around. What's wrong with a bit of peace and quiet for a few days!

Peace quiet and tranquility!
I could not of picked a better hotel! Location was fantastic half way up to Mount Teide away from all the hustle bustle of a beach holiday. Facilities of the spa were great, games room cinema room and sitting room were all places for relaxing. Dining room was laid out for breakfast which was a buffet each day and catered for hot items and cold along with cereals, breads yoghurts etc lunch time snack menu was varied and the dinner time too both reasonable priced but excellent dining. Cleaning of rooms was daily and fresh towels too. Would definitely recommend this hotel

An amazing 4 star hotel which feels like 5 stars
We had a truly relaxing time at the hotel. The rooms are large (bedroom, TV room and bathroom), bathroom is also enormous with jacuzzi tub. It is a very quite hotel where you are woken up by birds in the morning rather than cleaners in the corridors zooming with hoovers. Each room has also got a balcony terrace with table and chairs, so it's really nice to have a cup of tea or coffee there or listen to relax and listen to the sounds of nature. The food was very delicious at hotel's restaurant. Staff - always very helpful, calm and kind. There is also an evening room with fireplace, sofas and armchairs and a little bookshelf of books about Tenerife and other stuff. We liked having a cocktail or glass of wine in front of the fire. SPA - has Turkish bania, steam room, sauna, swimming pool, jacuzzi, hot and cold stone pools and treatment rooms. Book your treatments in advance as therapists work certain shifts, so are not always there. Over all for me it was a 5 star experience as this hotel really provides space and atmosphere where people can relax. The hotel is on the hill surrounded by pine tree forest and a little village of Vilaflor. Teide volcano and cable car- about 40 min drive, South coast about 40 min drive, North coast is a lot further away.

Lack of atmosphere.
Beautiful surrounding scenery up the mountain but I felt this hotel lacked atmosphere. The village nearby had little to offer and nearly everything was closed on a Tuesday. Rather disappointing.

Ideal for a relaxing holiday.
We were greeted warmly by staff as we checked in, it was clear that our comfort and satisfaction was important to them. Pool and sauna facilities were excellent and the outside terrace was a delightful place to be for pre-dinner drinks or simply for relaxation. We stayed for two nights, each time enjoying dinner which was well prepared, of good quality and served by staff attendant to our needs. A slight weakness was breakfast - food not quite hot enough, no fried eggs and toaster very slow. Our sat-nav could not identify the road/location so we did experience some difficulty finding the hotel. Nevertheless I would recommend the hotel.

Scenery and spa
The position of the hotel, in a pretty village just outside the National Park was great and we visited the spectacular park every day we were there. We also spent time in the spa, which was excellent and we had a massage every day, which really got rid of the tension in my back and shoulders. The restaurant in the hotel was good. The food was attractively presented and was tasty. Try and get a room overlooking the garden rather than the road to benefit from the sunshine.

Lovely hotel, half way up a mountain so if you want to go into a major town or to the beach it's a 35 min drive. Great views, spa ok, restaurant good, lounge, tv room and games room. Good for relaxing in the mountains. Lovely views, rooms large and comfortable, beds comfortable.

Comfortable spa hotel with super staff
Although our first impression on arrival was that the hotel wasn't quite as modern as we'd imagined, by the end of our three days we were completely comfortable and sorry to be leaving. The location is great for trips up to Mount Teide and the national park, and the hotel itself is next to attractive woodland. It is a little out of the centre of Vilaflor and would involve quite an ascent if on foot. The best thing was the wonderful friendliness and helpfulness of every member of staff we met. We also enjoyed using the free spa facilities, including the genuinely hot sauna. We ate in the restaurant every night and enjoyed the food. There was a nice breakfast buffet, although the option of muesli rather than just assorted flakes would have been welcome. We had one of the basic rooms, which was tucked a little out of the way, and there was the odd thing to criticise: in the doors to the balcony, for instance, I think the double glazing had failed and the bolt was a bit dodgy. Nevertheless, we were completely comfortable, and would gladly go back.

Fantastic hotel overall
We had a wonderful nights stay, the evening meal and breakfast were excellent as was the service. The area is stunning and views from all rooms apart from a few which unfortunately was ours. The negatives are only a few niggling things such as no drink making facilities in rooms, there was a fridge but nothing in it....strange. As this hotel has a four star rating we would expect drinks facilities to be available in the rooms. Ur last moan would be the member of staff would checked us in, he was all smiles until realised we were an English couple. His manner was unpleasant to say the least and even though I had requested a quiet room with a view he gave us the only room with a carpark view and no balcony or terrace. I could have forgiven this if the hotel was full but it wasn't as I checked the morning of travel.

Awesome getaway...
We were looking for a quiet getaway something different from the south and we found it! This hotel offers excellent service, good breakfast, a quality spa, and the views from the hotel were spectacular. Set in the mountains, there is hiking near the hotel and it offers many things outside to relax, hammocks, each room offers a patio with a table and chairs. If your looking for a quiet getaway I highly recommend this hotel. I will be visiting again in the near future.

Lovely quiet hotel for a special break away
A lovely hotel in a quiet and secluded location, perfect for a romantic get-a-way. It is a great location for venturing up the hill into the National Park, or you can enjoy nice walks around the hotel and down into Vilaflor. The Spa was excellent - bathrobes are given out at reception and then you can enjoy the jacuzzi, plunge pool, sauna, saunarium, steam room and pool. The gym was better equipped than expected and had all the basics that you need. The staff could not do enough to help during our stay. We ate at the restaurant on a couple of nights and the food was good but perhaps a little over priced. There's a nice large lounge to relax in and board games if you wish to play. A car is essential for staying here - but then you'd want one anyway to explore the local scenery.

Relaxing hotel in the mountains
We booked this hotel as a base for exploring the volcanic regions further up the mountain, but ended up spending a lot of time in the hotel too. It has a nice relaxing feel, being spacious and surrounded by trees, and many of the rooms have their own large balcony too. The spa has lots of facilities, including a full gym and climbing wall. The only negative is the restaurant's food, which was very old fashioned and often tasteless. The menu also didnt change during our stay. But there are places to eat a short walk downhill unto Vilaflor. Breakfast was fine, albeit vegetarians should be wary of the chef's habit of hiding chopped up hotdogs in the scrambled eggs.

Lovely location and friendly service
Beautiful location - perfect for walking/hiking, getting up to the volcano early in the morning to beat the crowds. The hotel is charmingly olde worlde, very well kept with genuinely friendly staff who are very happy to help in any way. Rooms are spacious and elegantly furnished. We enjoyed the spa every day but would like to see more staff so that more treatments can be offered (our visit was in February so perhaps not cost effective at that time of year). The restaurant and lounge are elegant but the TV room is a little out of date. Buffet breakfast is substantial with plenty of variety. Would like to see more variety on the dinner menu. perhaps with more local specialities. The only drawback is that whilst very close to the village it is not within walking distance, so driving is essential.

Beautiful and agreable stop
The hostel is very well situated for people who want to discover and walk in the Teide region. After walking the trekking way it was really agreable to go to the spa (sauna, jacuzzi, swimming pool, very complete installation). Nice personal, good advices to visit the regian and the island (which is still wild if you know where to go), good breakfast and very good restaurant not so expensive for the category of the hostel.

Unusual for Tenerife
The hotel VilAlba provides excellent service, excellent food, and has a good spa with indoor/outdoor swimming pool, jacuzzi, saunas, plunge pools and steam room. There is also a well-equipped gym and a climbing wall. The pool is heated with solar panels, so when there is a lot of cloud the pool is too cold for use. The surrounding hillside offers ample opportunity for walking. Being two-thirds of the way up to the El Teide crater, driving in and out, for visits elsewhere, means negotiating narrow roads, many hairpin bends, and impatient "locals". Te altitude means that temperatures at the hotel are 6 to 10 deg C below those at the south coast. For those hoping for an active holiday away from the crowds, this is a good place to be.

Perfect peace and relaxation
Hotel Villalba is much nicer than it appears on the photographs. It is in a beautiful setting, surrounded by pine trees with lots of lovely walks of all lengths and difficulty straight from the grounds. The room we had was actually a suite and was large and comfortable with a balcony overlooking the forest. The spa facilities were good though the pool was quite cold in October. Good to jump into after the sauna. Food was fine but not exciting. The staff couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. The village of Vilaflor is in easy walking distance and is quaint and friendly with cobbled streets a big square by the church, a petrol station and a couple of small supermarkets. La Casa del Pana is an authentic Canarian restaurant where all the food is definitely freshly cooked on the premises and probably grown in the garden, too. The goat stew is amazing. You will need a car if you are staying here and want to go anywhere else. There is 1 bus a day to the Teide National Park but that is about all. Taxis from the airport are about 30 Euros. Hotel Vilalba was as close to perfect as you could get for the price and I would recommend anyone who likes walking and who wishes to see a different side to Tenerife from Los Christianos and Americas to spend some time here.
