“Rocky start but worked out ok”
we arrived late evening , the weather was stormy and just to cap it all the reception staff were not expecting us.The restaurent had finished serving .Other checking in guest were offered a cold meal , we were directed to nearby restaurants. We were given a drink and asked to take a seat whilst a room was sorted out.We waited and were given a ground floor room. The room was ok not 4 star rated. It was clean but the bedroom floor tiles were badly damaged and bits missing in some places. We were tired and grateful we had a room .After 2 days we were informed by reception that our room had a problem with the plumbing and we were moved to a room on the third floor. What a contrast , spacious , laminated floor and fantastic sea views . The food was excellent , plenty of choice and the grounds were Lovely. Despite the rocky start we had a great time.
“Dream holiday”
Gloorious weather helped to make this an excellent holiday. This hotel is in a good location close to the beach. The pools and gardens are maintained to a high standard with plenty of sunloungers and comfortable sun beds. The staff throughout our stay were pleasant and helpful. The hotel is clean and very comfortable. We commented on the quality of the seating in the different lounges. The food was excellent with plenty of variety - something new every day. My family enjoyed the activities arranged each day, archery, boules etc,for those who prefered to be active rather than sunbathe. The quality of the entertainment in the evenings varied but was of a reasonable standard , the highlight being the african acrobats - warning , don't sit to close to the stage! We would certainly use this hotel again. One man said he had been going there for 17 years! One point, there were few children there during our holiday. February 2011
“One of Tenerife's finest!”
Excellant hotel - fantatastic facilities, great location and friendly staff. The ONLY downside was the coffee was terrible!
“We have every intention of going back”
The hotel was great only make sure you are in a room other than the landward side, the air condition units make a loud and continuos noise, we were on the 5th floor and could not use the balcony and had to keep the window closed.
“Really good beach location in pleasant resort area”
The Hotel is perfectly situated right on a small pleasant beach in a reasonably lively part of the resort if you look for good bars with comedians and singers. The price is average but add more for a balcony fand more again for a sea view .. Hotel is trendy and clean with a great swimming pool area. Staff are pleasant and efficient but with that typical self importance I always find in Spanish Hotels. The hotel seems like a retirement home in the winter months as The Canaries seem to attract most or Europes pensioners. The room was clean and functional but the only English language TV channels are typically news programmes. The restauarants along the beach and port are well located with quality entertainment but the food was generally awful ,canteen standard at best. The boat trips to see the dolphins and whales are worthwile and usually discounted. The mountainous scenery backdrop is impressive and its a great experience to go up the mountains above the clouds. The local bus every 30 minutes directly between the airpot and the resorts is only 2 euros per person. A week is plenty but a great break with great weather in a resort with decent people
“One of the best "seaside" hotels in Playa de la Americas”
We went to Playa de la Americas last year at this time, and stayed at the Iberostar Bouganville Playa hotel, almost right next door. Therefore, I felt somewhat knowledgeable about what hotels to consider and which ones to avoid. The H10 Gran Tenerfe is located as close to the sea as it can get. This was important to me, as many Tenerife hotels claim to have "seaview" rooms or balconies, many are actually hundreds of meters from the sea. There is a small beach right outside the rear entrance of the hotel. This was very convenient for those short dips in the ocean, without having to walk a kilometer to the nearest beach. The rooms are recently remodeled, and we chose the seaview side of this hotel. Rooms had a large flatscreen TV, and a couple Russian channels, which was good for my companion. The restaurant buffet was quite good, but like most hotel resorts, can be a bit repetitive after several days. We actually thought that our previous hotel had slightly better cuisine. The service in the dining room was excellent. They have a little terrace where you can dine outside if you wish, but we thought it was too windy or cool for that. In all, this is not the largest hotel, so it was nice that it was a bit smaller. Elevators could get crowded, but didn't really seem to be a bother. In all, the seaview rooms are worth the extra price, as these rooms are right on top of the sea. There was a bit of musical noise from the outside bar late in the evening, but it did not disturb us.
“H 10 Gran Tinerfe”
The hotel would be too close to the 18-30 area of Playa de las Americas at the height of the season but was fine in January. The room [free upgrade to Bungalow] was very good with great access to the pool. The room was very clean, the staff very helpful and very skilled in languages. The hotel shows some signs of having been lived in but overall is good. There is good dining available nearby and burgers too! Be prepared to pay the deposits for towels 15 Euros each, the key to the safe, the key to the mini bar etc - you will get it all back But it does bite into your cash wedge.
“ENGLAND”
The hotel had just been refurbished, it was just like walking into a brand new hotel. The staff in general were very good apart from some of the reception staff who were a bit misserable, and the pool barmen seemed to be reluctant to serve you and never smiled. When we first arrived we were put in a room with no balcony, the room itself was also quite small so I asked to be moved, which we did the next day and the room was very good apart from there was not enough drawers to put your clothes in, and there were not enough coat hangers which meant leaving some of our clothes in the suitcases. The food was really good and the dining room staff were excellent, and the waiters in the function room were also good. The pool area was wonderful with lots of swimming area, the only thing that spoilt it were the good old Germans who brought there towels down very early in the morning to save the sunbeds, but hey whats new ! All in all the hotel was very good and we would definatly go back there again and I would recomend it to my freinds.
“hotel facilities are really good, but the room was basic”
enjoyed our stay in this hotel, brilliant location walk from 5mins close to all the bars at Veronicas and Starco's (Linekers, Yates, Tramps) 5mins walk from San Eugenio shopping centre, ideal place for gifts. Good swimming pools, It has massage and treatments but is expensive. Only paid for breakfast buffet which was not the best, the cooked food like scrambled eggs, beans, fried potatoes, tomatoes, omlettes, pancakes were good, but the fruit and cereal was rank, it the type of stuff that makes tesco value range look like M&S as well as the fruit juices I have never tasted anything worst, even yogurts and smoothies yuck. The room we were put in was basic, no iron, no fridge, no kettle, mini bar service available at higher cost. The reception staff were good. TV only had 4 english channels, 3 news and eurosport. At least it had balcony, though, probably got a better room if we booked an non ecomony room. the hotel was nice though outside the room. Internet a bit steep at 1 euro per ten mins.
“Pretty good but....”
This quite sophisticated hotel's facilities, including pools, bar, restaurant, etc are very good - you could spend the entire holiday here if you wished. Nevertheless, other nearby hotels are even more palatial - raffishly and glitzily so. The neighbourhood is clean, apparently safe but fairly downmarket - nearest bar is the Ibrox (sorry Rangers Fans). Next is the Brummie Bar, close to the Aberdeen Steak House. Expect frequent interception by people trying to lure you into their restaurants and bars. Full English breakfast is easier to get here than in London. Likewise pints of Tetley's. If you hire a car, note that the Gran Tinerfe's car park is small and often full. On-street parking nearby is very difficult.
