“You get what you pay for”
My friend and I spent 9 nights at Hotel Acuario. We got a very good price for the time of year, but the hotel was dead so I'm assuming it was doing quite badly in the recession. We visited at a bad time as the hotel was doing maintenance in the main building (luckily our room was in the second building), this made accessing the lounge and getting onto the internet difficult. We also happened to visit during the world cup and were staying there during the night Spain got through to the finals. Needless to say we didn't sleep much that night because our room was located on a road with lots of people living on who made a racket well into the night (not only after the football too). There was also a guy who owned a flock of birds living in a room opposite us, and due to lack of air conditioning we were forced to listen to these birds in the morning since the window and balcony door had to stay open. The room itself was tiny, barely room to move off of the beds, but we got what we paid for a suppose. The food was good most nights, not as much selection as there was last year, and the staff are incredible. There's one particular old Spanish waiter who is hillarious, he has been there for both of our visits and it wouldn't be the same place without him! The reception staff also went to a lot of trouble to help us with an issue with transport on our last day too. Overall I think it's a good hotel and would stay again, I think I'm growing attached to the place after staying twice now!
“The rooms are very small but the hotel is very good for the price with friendly staff.”
We liked our stay ( 24 nights ) at this hotel because the people working there were very friendly and the hotel is located pretty well according to us. Me and my wife can without doubt get back to this hotel if we are going to Porto de la Cruz again.
