“The WORST Hotel ....”
Nothing that was said was true on the page, everything was extra internet, parking, towels, sauna besides customer service was terrible not mentioned roaches in the rooms. BAD HOTEL
“Very relaxing”
The hotel was easy to find, well positioned and the pools were lovely. The buffet breakfast was very good and the room/appartment was well equipped. The entertainment wasn't to our taste but we just chose not to join in!
“Staff wonderful - hotel very tired!”
We assumed that the standard of Barcelo's would be the same or similar in all countries! Entirely wrong assumption! The Varadero is tired and in urgent need of refurbishment. The equipment in the apartment was sadly lacking both in quality and quantity - and the cleanliness of the room left quite a lot to be desired. Having said that, the staff were helpful and friendly and quick to dispatch the ants and cockroaches we found in the apartment, to provide us with more than the one spoon we found in the cutlery tray and to provide electric kettle, toaster, clothes hangers when we requested them. We certainly should have taken more notice of the hotel reviews before we booked, but assumed that there are always some people who would complain, however good the accommodation! Wrong again - I'm certain now that their complaints were well founded! This was the first time we had a holiday abroad in a couple of years as my husband has been extremely ill - and were not best pleased by the standard of this particular Barcelo. I hope they take note of this review - and try to achieve the standards set in, for instance, the Barcelo in Fuerteventura (Caleta) which is immaculate and well equipped. We would certainly not return to the Varadero!
“Good for what you paid for”
Hotel is a bit old with old walls and some equipment. Was OK for the price we asked. The place is quite far from anything else in a small town and car is highly recommended.
“what you would expect”
A large Hotel on the main resort street, close to the sea (but not beach) Good food, nice appartments, two nice pools 'entertainment' every night. maybe not to everyones taste.
“Worth the money”
This hotel/resort was very cheap but excellent value for the money. It has landscaped gardens with 3 large pools (which weren't heated, but then the climate is warm). We had no meals included and the kitchen facilities were limited but, again, certainly as good as we expected. The whole apartment was spacious and had a large balcony. We did have breakfast in the restaurant on the first morning and there was a huge choice for 6 Euros - though the coffee was Nescafe and not ground. Entertainment not really to our taste but we hadn't gone for that.
“Brilliant Time in Varadero 19-22/11/2010”
It was a very nice Hotel, clean, friendly staff great place highly recommended. The beach is awsome, quite, and very close to the resport. We will be back next year for sure. Thank you.
“Definately worth the price”
We stayed there for 4 days and had a lovely time. Staff were very friendly and when we did'nt want to eat at the hotel resturant, they recommended a very nice place nearby. We actually went back on our last day because the food was really good. We had a problem with late checkout but they handled it very nicely and went out of their way to accomodate us. The hotel and rooms are kept very clean with housekeeping coming everyday to clean the rooms. If you are looking for a posh hotel, maybe not but it suited our needs perfectly.
“I back again”
The hotel is OK. Staff friendly. Swimming pools nice. very good all inclusive option, e.g. alcohol, ice creme. nice view on the ocean and El Teide.
“Perfect for Families”
We have just returned from a four day break with our six year old twin grandsons. Bacelo Varadero was perfect for us and the children. The apartment was large and clean with a separate bedroom. Although we were all inclusive there are tea and coffee making facilities, a two ring cooker and fridge. Very useful for early moring coffee on the balcony. The food was very good with adequate choice for adults and children, Although they do not offer packed lunches for days out they have no objection to you taking bread, rolls, meats, cheese, salad, fruit, biscuits etc. from the resturant to make up your own in the morning! The pools were clean, supervised a little cold but ok when you were in. Hotel staff are helpful, friendly and speak good english. All the children had great fun. Food from pool snack bar was also great for kids. The situation of hotel is very good with a 10 to 15 minute walk to shops. It is a very quiet area good for families but not for those wanting evening entertainment. Car hire was very cheap. Book before you go. Its cheaper than transfers but be aware that roads are hairy in places! With your own car you can visit Mount Teide but cable car is very very expensive. Worth the trip to see the landscape though. Loro Park is a definate MUST. Dont miss Whale, Dolphin and Sea Lion shows. Buy tickets and use internet in small shop next to hotel.
