Nickel and Dimed

Posted 01-Oct-2014
Pros: View and location near gondola to town.
Cons: See comments above.
I have stayed here before and had forgotten why I didn't like staying here. It is in a beautiful location, but... Parking for $26 without any self park options...my car was right there in the lot by the door just 25 feet away. No vending machines for sodas. Want something to drink? Call room service and pay an exorbitant fee for the soda and the room service charge. The no vending machine policy has been around for years -- is this customer service -- or is it gouging. Then add the resort fee to all of this, which in many places includes the valet parking fees. I like to stay in nice hotels and I don't mind paying for them, but there is a yucky feel about the way The Peaks operates.

I could tell we had the "off season" staff. Room service neglected my breakfast request, the entire hotel was out of bagels, it took 30 minutes for ice to be brought up among other minor annoyances. Hotel is fairly nice; relatively clean although it was hit or miss if I received amneties such as shampoo. I had 3 conditioners and I lotion the entire stay. Do not stay in rooms near the elevator or above the lobby area. It was extremely noisy with rude guests and my request to the staff was ignored. Spa is nice but nothing special. They make a big deal of it being the largest spa in Colorado but it's not very private or exclusive, nor does it have the amenities I expected such as private mud, mineral or herbal baths for the grandeur they extol.

GORGEOUS place to stay!

Posted 22-Sep-2014 on Hotels.com
Resort was very easy to find on my GPS & I used valet parking, you have to pay extra fee, is not inc. in resort fee. Resort is a very short drive to the historic downtown area. Very friendly/helpful staff at front desk & valet; check in was very prompt/courteous. Restaurant located across from check in was suggested for specials, I did check out. They had a great burger/beer special for ten dollars, was yummy! Service & the view were awesome. I had a K-room, it was very spacious! Bathroom was very nice; huge walk-in shower & separate bath. The shower floor looked dirty, could just be the tile. Later, when I called front desk to ask about an ice machine, they said I would need to get that from room service (since paying resort fee, seems appropriate). They transferred me to room service, no one answered, I left a msg. 30 min later I never rec’d a call back or ice. I called again. In the morning I was running late & while getting ready I called room service to order breakfast. They said it would be 30 min. It was. They forgot the bucket of ice I asked for so they had to go back. The eggs were not cooked as I had ordered them, neither were the potatoes. On top of that, the tray it was brought up on had 1 tiny pkt of strawberry jam. That was the only condiment on the tray. No salt. No pepper. No ketchup. No other jam (I don't care for strawberry). Luckily I did get a napkin & utensils. I wouldn't order from their room service again, but I would definitely stay here again!

Hard to Sleep!!!

I live in the mountains and never need AC.. But this place was unbearable even with ceiling fan and windows open!! The pool and hottub close at 8pm making it a waste for their ridiculous added resort fees!! On top of being expensive be sure to have another $160 for incidentals to have put on hold on your debit card for a few days depending on your bank.. Not impressed with this place at all.

Fabulous hotel

Posted 15-Sep-2014 on Hotels.com
The hotel was beautiful, with beautiful views from each side. It is located in Mountain Village, over a mountain from Telluride. There is a free gondola from the village to the town - very fun and gorgeous views. The village has lots of shops, restaurants, etc. It is at a high altitude and the hotel gives complimentary bottles of water to help fight the effects of the altitude. Room was very large and comfortable.

I reported to the front desk that the shower drain was not working. Each shower taken would result in 2 inches of water building up. Was told by personnel that it would be taken care of immediately while we were out. The problem was never fixed during our 3 day stay. Totally disappointing.

Fairly Nice hotel in Mtn Village, above Telluride

Posted 13-Sep-2014
Pros: Good location in Mtn Village, nice spa
Cons: It's looking a little stogy.
Location: Good eating, nice hikes
My wife and I were a little disappointed at how dated The Peaks appeared. They need to invest a little to get it into better condition, especially for the prices they charge.

Fantastic resort!

We spent our honeymoon in Telluride and stayed at the Peaks. The hotel and staff were amazing! We took advantage of the hotel amenities including the spa, pools, etc. Great location in Mountain Village - close to restaurants, gondola and more. Had a wonderful time and will be back!
