First stay in the Mountain Village

Posted 21-Jul-2014
Pros: It was clean.
Cons: Parking was tight even with a valet. Cars were parked every which way. This made navigation with a big truck challenging.
Location: Hiking, skiing, spa services, fly fishing, dining, shopping, scenic views.
We had just finished a week in Telluride and wanted one more day in paradise, so, we booked a room in the Mountain Village on the fly. Very nice facility and friendly staff. The hotel was convenitently located to the village core, which make for a short trip to the Gondola. We did not eat at the hotel but had cocktails on the patio overlooking the golf course. Great view! The drinks were good too. I would recommend the hotel to others.

Loud Hotel.

Posted 15-Jul-2014
Pros: Views were amazing. Bed was comfortable. Room was clean.
Cons: Soundproof walls and more dividing wall on balcony.
Location: Godola ride. Hiking. Restaurants.
Very loud! Could hear people next door. Balcony open to neighbors as well. Not very private for the price.

Great views and location

Friendly staff, they were short handed at lunch and dinner but the valet people were extremely accommodating. I would go back.

Loved the location. Beautiful views. The pool is amazing and the slide was amazing for my kids. Excellent work out facility. The bed was mediocre as far as comfort though our room was nice with a pull out bed for the kids. You will be nickel and dimes as there is a $20 per day valet fee and additional resort fee. Telluride is expensive so this isn't a huge surprise. However- Telluridebis beautiful and it was amazing to stay in the village so the price is fair in the end.

Great hotel!

Posted 07-Jul-2014
Pros: The rooms, balcony, staff, location.
Cons: The restaurants. They were overpriced and not enough variety on the menus.
Location: Easy access to outdoor activities, great hiking and biking trails. Easy access to the gondola that goes downtown.
It was probably the nicest hotels that I've probably stayed in. The staff were super nice and helpful, the rooms were huge, clean with a great view. It was nicely located to everything that I needed.

Some parts are 4 star worthy, others not so much

Posted 27-Jun-2014
Pros: The views were unbelievable. The staff was friendly and attentive.
Cons: Maintenance. Clean the balcony glass.
Location: Very close to everything in Mountain Village. Be sure to ride the gondola into Telluride proper.
This hotel is well situated in Telluride Mountain Village. Easy walk to the gondola and town square. Beautiful views from the deck and restaurant overlooking the golf course. If you get a room on this side (facing west) the views are great. If you are unfortunate enough to get a room on the other side you get a view of the parking lot. This is what I got. It didn't really matter because the balcony was encased by glass that was so dirty and stained you couldn't see through it anyway. The room itself was average and clean enough. The bathroom showed some mold in the grout and quite a few broken tiles along the floor base, many of which had been re-attached in their broken condition or just propped up. This is not 4 star material. No air conditioning. Even with the evening breezes it was hot at times. The pool area boasted the same fantastic view as the deck. Generally clean and well kept, though there seemed to be a thick layer of slime that accumulated on the buffer between the indoor/outdoor pool.

Corporate Driven, mid-range

Posted 10-Feb-2014
Pros: The rooms were comfortable.
Cons: Hotel service is terrible overall. There were a few good employees (who should be promoted), but overall, staff is inattentive and lacking.
Location: Nothing to do at night near the hotel. You have to go to Telluride. During the daytime, it's a convenient location for skiing.
Hotel grounds are expansive and offer many amenities; however, I found the staff to be inattentive and lacking in comparison to other local establishments and resort facilities such as these across the country. The hotel is is Mountain Village, which lacks a night life, and rather remote; limiting your activities to a gondola ride down the mountain in Telluride. You are limited to room service for food if you want to eat at the hotel, or the onsite restaurant with a limited menu. The most disappointing part of the stay is that room service could not get an order correct in the 5 attempts we tried. Even after getting a manager involved, there was no follow up by the higher up staff. Adding a sundry shop or any sort of store for snacks, water, gatorade after 12pm would have greatly added to our satisfaction. As a homeowner in Telluride who also has a time share for 6 weeks a year in Telluride, I would recommend staying down in the town of Telluride proper over this hotel. However, if you need a last minute backup plan (like we did) and you are indifferent about service and plan to bring your own food, the Peaks will work.
