Nickel and Dimed

Posted 01-Oct-2014
Pros: View and location near gondola to town.
Cons: See comments above.
I have stayed here before and had forgotten why I didn't like staying here. It is in a beautiful location, but... Parking for $26 without any self park options...my car was right there in the lot by the door just 25 feet away. No vending machines for sodas. Want something to drink? Call room service and pay an exorbitant fee for the soda and the room service charge. The no vending machine policy has been around for years -- is this customer service -- or is it gouging. Then add the resort fee to all of this, which in many places includes the valet parking fees. I like to stay in nice hotels and I don't mind paying for them, but there is a yucky feel about the way The Peaks operates.

I could tell we had the "off season" staff. Room service neglected my breakfast request, the entire hotel was out of bagels, it took 30 minutes for ice to be brought up among other minor annoyances. Hotel is fairly nice; relatively clean although it was hit or miss if I received amneties such as shampoo. I had 3 conditioners and I lotion the entire stay. Do not stay in rooms near the elevator or above the lobby area. It was extremely noisy with rude guests and my request to the staff was ignored. Spa is nice but nothing special. They make a big deal of it being the largest spa in Colorado but it's not very private or exclusive, nor does it have the amenities I expected such as private mud, mineral or herbal baths for the grandeur they extol.

Nice place. Staff was helpful getting around due to husband being in a wheelchair.

Fairly Nice hotel in Mtn Village, above Telluride

Posted 13-Sep-2014
Pros: Good location in Mtn Village, nice spa
Cons: It's looking a little stogy.
Location: Good eating, nice hikes
My wife and I were a little disappointed at how dated The Peaks appeared. They need to invest a little to get it into better condition, especially for the prices they charge.

Fantastic resort!

Posted 13-Sep-2014
We spent our honeymoon in Telluride and stayed at the Peaks. The hotel and staff were amazing! We took advantage of the hotel amenities including the spa, pools, etc. Great location in Mountain Village - close to restaurants, gondola and more. Had a wonderful time and will be back!

Nice resort for a quick weekend getaway!

Posted 26-Aug-2014
Pros: I liked that fact that it was close to restaurants and the gondola into Telluride.
Cons: The bed was very uncomfortable, the linens had holes in them and the pillows looked older. My husband and I both had backaches after the first night.
I found our room on Expedia, was surprised when I found out where it was, I had been looking at that resort prior to booking with Expedia. It was in a wonderful location but unfortunately our first night we did not realize how close we were to several other restaurants and that we could take the gondola into town for free. It would have been nice if the hotel staff would have asked if we had been there before and informed us of that. That first night we had to order room service because there was only one vending machine in the resort and our daughter was hungry later in the evening. Other than that loved the pool and hot tubs. Restaurant had amazing food and service. Beautiful outside area that over looked the golf course and valley. We were able to take advantage of the outside terrace for our last evenings meal.

Unreal sunsets

Posted 22-Aug-2014 on Hotels.com
Unreal sunsets off of the deck at the bar as well as certain rooms that face the west...great location as you can get into city center free on the gondola thats a brisk 5-10 minute walk from hotel... And a fun and beautiful ride. One drawback is the mandatory valet parking that is $30 dollars a night with taxes and fees. There is no free self parking available whatsoever.

Nice Hotel - but after the fact Expedia costs.

Posted 18-Aug-2014
Pros: Nice facility, room was well appointed.
Cons: Better communication and full fee disclosure from Expedia when promoting "special deals" to their customers.
Location: Location was in the Mountain Village area, not in downtown Telluride. The views from the lobby/patio area are great looking West towards Wilson Peak.

One of the best hotels I've ever stayed at. Looking forward to returning.
