Feeling at home in a comfy hotel

Posted 10-Apr-2015
Pros: Very comfortable room, great location.
Cons: The office is closed for a couple of hours early afternoon; might be worth calling ahead if arriving before 3pm.
Location: Good Hot Springs recreational area. If you're a fan of the original True Grit, some important scenes were filmed near here, in Ridgeway.
What a great place! My buddy and I got the Family Room, which was very spacious. Imagine a regular hotel room, with an extra bedroom added! It also had a couch and a few small chairs. Perfect for our needs. The breakfast was a continental style -- breads, etc. laid out buffet style; eggs/waffles were included, and prepared upon request. Its right in the town of Ouray, walking distance or short drive to lots of restaurants, etc. The owners are really nice, and made us feel at home!

Nice place, but breakfast was the big disappointme

Posted 30-Mar-2015
Pros: The linens and pillows were particularly nice.
Cons: Breakfast situation! Doesn't seem like they can accommodate too many guests, and they don't seem willing to keep the food coming towards the end.
Location: Right at the start of the Box Canyon hike, which is nice.
The owners were nice to leave the key after-hours, with a nice note. Room was fine, clean, nice amenities. Would have given it a great review, except that our breakfast experience was terrible. It was to be served till 930am; we got there at 9am, and the small breakfast room was crowded, full, and there was nowhere to sit. There were only bagels, waffles, bread and cereal (all and only carbs!!!!). And 2 empty hot plates, which may or may not have had food in them earlier. No fruit. There were raw eggs that we could cook ourselves, in one boiler. Those instructions said to boil for 12 minutes, and someone already had eggs in there, so we would have had to wait their 12 mins, plus 12 of our own, to get eggs. The owner was serving, and did not acknowledge the lack of seating or food, so we didn't know what to do. The kids grabbed a couple of bagels, and we left.

Close to town

Posted 23-Mar-2015
Pros: Location, friendly
Stayed here after a day in Ouray and at the hot springs. Hotel is clean, comfortable and friendly. Walking distance to town. At dusk you go for a walk with the Deer. We will stay here again.

Affordable, Climber Friendly Place to Stay

Posted 26-Dec-2014 on Hotels.com
I stay here whenever I come to Ouray for skiing or ice climbing. It's an easy walk to the ice park, the rooms are simple and comfortable, the price is affordable, and the owners are friendly and pretty big supporters of the climbing community.

Riverside location.

Posted 29-Sep-2014
Pros: Everything!
Cons: Larger parking bays, as some SUVs more than filled one bay!
Location: Drive The San Juan Skyway to Silverton and Durango -- wonderful scenery in late summer. Telluride is worth a visit too.
Quiet riverside location at entrance to town, a short walk only to shops and eateries. Very comfortable, well appointed room with abundance of linens. An excellent idea...a cloth to be used to mop up any spills etc., a definite PLUS! Proper china and silverware another definite plus. Hot tub, launderette, outside seating, play area are in a central location. Chairs outside all rooms for relaxing in the shade a very thoughtful gesture. Full marks!

Nice hotel on the river and close to hiking

Posted 27-Aug-2014
Pros: Location
Location: Hiking, river, shopping, food.
Close to hiking trail and right on the river. Still nice and quite since it's off Main St. but still a short walk from town.
