Wonderful getaway

Close to the waterfalls, hikes and town. We had a wonderful stay. But the room was pretty slanted, the wooden hot tubs were a little slimy.

One night stay

Posted 21-Jul-2014
Pros: Hot spring tubs
Cons: Not much
Location: Two blocks to main street and close to box canyon creek
We love Ouray and our one night stay at the Box Canyon Lodge and hot springs way fun and relaxing. We checked in at 3pm and beat the crowds who came in later. Since most guests were not around we went straight to the hot tubs and had them all to ourselves - relaxing and a special treat. I recommend this lodge because of the hot tubs if for no other reason. The room seemed a little small but had all of the things we needed, bed and bath the two most important. You are close to the bridge over the box canyon creek so take the trail around the village to see all of the sights, including downtown main street.

Posted 15-Jul-2014
Cons: needs some updating
Location: Ouray is a lovely town. We visited Box Canyon Springs. Nice shops and places to eat
A nice friendly hotel, ideally situated in Ouray. A small breakfast was provided although the muffin was extremely dry. I would stay here again

Walk to Ouray center

Pros: Location, hot springs, easily available laundry room.
Cons: Breakfast offerings?
Location: Ouray is a fun high altitude historical mining town.
Very comfortable motel with laundry room and free hot springs soaking tubs. Beds were firm and very comfortable, and everything was very clean.

Overpriced for what is provided--not a good value.

Posted 23-Jun-2014
Pros: Cleanliness,, views, location, quiet.
Cons: More reasonable pricing, better value.
Location: Hiking, mountain climbing, ice climbing (Winter), sitting in the hot springs wondering how they can charge so much for a room and keep a straight face
Spent one night here in the middle of June. The office staff were pleasant and friendly, providing a quick and efficient check-in. The room was clean, quiet, and well-presented. The facilities and grounds were well-maintained. Overall this is a very nice property. My complaint is that it is severely overpriced. I paid $185 for one night in a room that was more on the level of a nice motel. Booking this room ahead of time was a mistake, and I fell victim to some slick photography and marketing material when I signed up to stay here. The room in which I stayed was worth, to me, only about $90 a night. I feel ripped-off and that I was scammed. The breakfast that is described is nothing like the breakfast presented. The reality is that there a a number of convenience store-looking muffins, some coffee, and some canned juice for breakfast. Not really what was described in the write-up on the website. I would stay here again if the price of a room were more in line with life on Earth and not perched somewhere in the stratosphere. I really got the feeling that the ownership was gouging the customers.

Love this lodge!

Posted 18-Jun-2014
Pros: Clean, quiet room, Comfortable bed, beautiful views, courteous staff
Cons: Front desk closes at 11 pm or 11:30pm and does not reopen until 7 or 7:30am.
Location: Hot springs, hiking, Main Street shops, restaurants
We chose the Box Canyon Lodge and Hot Springs based on the positive reviews on Expedia, and we were not disappointed! This is a great little lodge nestled on the mountainside just a couple of blocks from Main Street in Ouray. It had everything we were looking for in our stay-beautiful views, a comfortable bed, a clean and quiet room, and a reasonable price. Although we did not utilize the hot springs on the grounds, the area looked very inviting. The staff was very courteous as well. We will definitely stay here again if we return to Ouray!

Nice motel with hot springs hot tubs

Posted 10-Jun-2014
Pros: The hot tubs.
Cons: The breakfast
Location: Lots of things to do in Ouray, it is a neat town. There are the municipal hot springs, not to be missed and several hikes.around town.
We only stayed for one night and it was a pleasant stay. The hotel is in a quiet location of town and had the added bonus of the hot springs hot tubs which we made use of. They have a wide selection of movies you can see in your room which was really nice. The one thing I didn{t like was the breakfast set up, basically you go to the lobby and pick up a muffin, and a canned juice and some coffe and take it to your room. Maybe there were bananas or apple can´tremember. There is room for improvement there but then as it is a motel I don´t think they have space for a dining room.

Nice hotel in a quaint little city!

Posted 01-Jun-2014
Pros: The view of the surrounding snow capped mountains and the hot tubs.
Cons: If the breakfast had more options.
Location: We enjoyed the local shops and restaurants. The view was gorgeous anywhere you looked. Our hotel was right next to the waterfall.
We absolutely loved this hotel and the town. We will definitely return one day. It was an adorable hotel and lovely surroundings and view. The hot tubs were a definite plus and made our stay very relaxing.

Box Canyon Resort

Posted 29-May-2014
Pros: No hassles at all. Good continental breakfast served early.
Cons: Provide small dip nets at the mineral springs hot tubs to skim off the inevitable "scum" that accumulates on the surface.
Location: Access to the Uncomphagre National Forest is superb. Ouray is a quaint, interesting town, but get out of town and into nature.
I immediately noticed the cleanliness of this hotel...way above average. Staff, location, ameneties were top notch.
