“Peaceful setting, on a bus route to the Old City of Jerusalem”

The Ramat Rachel Hotel is a marvelous place for non-Jewish people to experience some Jewish culture. The setting is a 10 minute walk from an archeological site dating from 600-700 BC, and is right on a bus route (45 minutes) to downtown Jerusalem. The food and service were excellent. If you want to walk out your door and be in the hustle and bustle of the city, this is not the place to go, otherwise I would highly recommend it.

When to go

I have heard that it is rainy in the winter and unbearably hot in the summer. We were there in late March and the weather was great.

What to pack

Voltage converter, if you are from the US and plug adapter.

Must see

The archeological site at the hotel and, of course, the Old City of Jerusalem.

“A good choice”

I stayed in a number of hotels in Israel about this price range and found that the Tal compared well. Didn't see any of the shabbiness i saw elsewhere. Breakfast was reasonable but nothing to write home about. If visiting Tel Aviv again i would consider the Tal as one of my options.
