“Courtyard by Marriott Tbilisi”

Good location, standard Marriott levels of service, its clean and safe, it has 4 stars but i my view only just deserves that. it would be a pretty good 3 star hotel to be fair! So fine for a weekend city break or those pesky business meetings! Nice little pool and gym in the basement. food is perfectly ok if your locked in meetings, but there are plenty good restaurants in a short walking distance if you have the time. ask the staff where the ones are near the river with outside tables.

“I would stay there again”

I booked this hotel through internet after I read mostly positive reviews. When I arrived at the hotel I was immediately impressed by its location which is located at beautiful Freedom Square. The hotel is in easy reach to many attractions and major places such as Rustaveli Street, Old Town, etc. Due to our visit time in August, as can be imagined, Tbilisi was very hot, it was around 34 C, the air conditioning in the room was working very effectively and inside the building was also quite cool. The hotel looked very new to me, the decoration was also quite modern. The breakfast was also in line with what we paid. The hotel personnel was very professional and helpful. I would love to stay there again. If I have to make a negative comment I would say that the indoor swimming pool is very small, but we did not go there to swim anyway.

Area recommendations

Rustavali Street has beautiful architecture. The old town is very well maintained. The Freedom square and the river side is very well illuminated by night.

When to go

I think May-June or September are the best months to visit Tbilisi

Getting there

Best way is to fly directly to Tblisi int. airport. The taxi from airport to downtown is around 25 Lari. If you have to travel from Batumi to Tblisi try the train but they have different type of trains so invesitigate before you go. Another alternative is to hire an aircondtioned taxi from Batumi to Tbilisi (with non-smoking driver)which is around 240 Lari. You can do the booking through the hotels.Never take a bus or minibus as they are overcrowded. Some Turkish buses operate between Tblisi and Batumi but they are also not in good shape and they even transport passengers standing. Be aware that the people in Georgia do not drive well, so always be careful with the traffic

“good value for 4 star hotel”

The hotel itself is nothing to write home about but a good value. breakfast quite good but the best part is the location. Also good for kids since it has an indoor pool and walking distance (short) to a street with lots of food and treat options.

“Sehr schönes komfortables Stadthotel”

Alles im sehr gutem Zustand, Personal sehr freundlich, alle sehr hilfsbereit und relativ zentral - Alt-Tiflis und Einkaufsstraße - alles zu Fuß innerhalb von max. 15 Minuten erreichbar.

Funiculor, Avlabar, sowie die Altstadt sind ein Muß.

Typisch georgische Lokale und Restaurants sind sehr zu empfehlen, andere weniger

Nightlife

Viele Bars und Lokale, Nachtclubs, die georgische Mentalität reißt alle mit und ob man will oder nicht, man feiert einfach mit.
