“Great location, lots of character and friendly staff”
St Olav's is a warm friendly hotel and located near to the main square. Other reviews had found the hotel noisy but I only heard people on one or two occasions but it wasn't at all intrusive and the hotel looked quite full. I went in November and it was freezing outside but the hotel was warm and cosy and very good value for the price. My only gripe was I couldn't open the windows in the bedroom but a fan was provided so it wasn't too bad. The buffet breakfast is good with convenient times but don't get there too late or else the pastries disappear! A large selection of food all of it very tasty and a lovely big dining room. Overall a great hotel with lots of old fashioned character. Exposed beams, traditional decor, with a hint of grandior. Our room wasn't massive but very comfortable with a nice bathroom - no bath but a powerful hot shower. There was a minibar and a Fridge and a flatscreen TV. People with mobility problems should make sure they get a ground/first floor room though as we were on the third floor with quite steep stairs but it's an old building and it wasn't a problem for us. Would I stay there again - definitely - I really enjoyed my stay there and could of happily stayed longer.
“Tallinn is a beautiful crown of a city and this hotel is one of it's jewels.”
Can't wait to go back.
“No sleep whatsoever in 3 days.”
Courtyard and all groundfloor rooms are a disaster if you actually want to sleep. They are too hot and some do not have windows at all. This building is not designed to be a hotel. I will endeavor to stay in modern, well insulated (sound insulation) hotels from now on at all costs. Tallin is lovely but zero sleep for 72 hours has marred the experience. No wonder it was cheap!
“Mediocre-No frills hotel”
Positives=Hotel was very central and room was cleaned every day. Negatives=Room was small and there was a terrible smell of drains on the stairway leading up to the room. Don't expect bacon with breakfast as there is none. Do not expect hotel staff to be polite or to be able to able to get a small glass of ice from the bar for use with mini bar in room. Do not expect 4 star hotel, expect 3 star. I would not recomend this hotel to my parents but would recomend to a friend looking for low cost cetral hotel. No frills hotel, but was cheap
“Old Town Hotel with Olde Worlde Charm”
The plus points for this hotel are; 1) its location right in the heart of the old town and therefore close to all the amenities the old town has to offer (as well as only a 5 min walk to the train station if you plan to travel around Estonia). 2) the excellent buffet breakfast included in the rate which will give you more than you need for a good start to the day. 3) The rooms are charming in an olde worlde way with wooden beams and they are clean and reasonably comfortable. The minus points for the hotel are; 1) low ceilings in the bathroom - im six foot tall and just about got my head in but I kept having to dodge the bathroom light which was about 4-5 inches lower than ceiling hieght...the bathroom generally was quite small. 2) there was no wardrobe space in my room, i was just given 4 hangers to hang off hooks and that was it....if youre staying as a couple for a few nights this could be very inconvenient. 3) there was no lift in the hotel...I was on the fourth floor so I had to climb a slightly baffling myriad of stairs to get to my room...bear this in mind if you dont have a room on the lower floors
“Two days in Tallinn”
This hotel was really convenient, easy to find and the rooms were really nice. Breakfast was buffet style and really good. Only complaint would be the beds were a bit too soft. I would recommend this hotel.
“Noisy and hot, but great location”
Great location, but no a/c and room was on the street level next to the street. It could get extremely noisy. Wasn't that big of a problem for me, but might be for some. Breakfast was good.
“will go back”
A quirky and unique hotel with a maze of corridors squeaking floorboards and low beams. The staff was very friendly and helpful. A great location just 2 minutes from the main square. We will be going back again.
“Enjoyable Stay”
This is a great hotel in a fantastic location in Old Town Tallinn. Our room was clean and comfortable (although too warm as a previous reviewer has also noted). I would definitely stay here again.
“Beware of being moved to another hotel”
We booked this nice looking hotel through expedia, easy! Upon arrival, we got immediately the message that due to heavy rainfall, most of the rooms were not occupyable and they had booked us in another hotel, here's the map and they expect you... No sign of cleaning, nor heavy rain, just a trick to overbook, cash the money and then send people across town. The place we got sent to was much older and we were first givven a 2 bed basement room with no windows, no air coming in, very unfriendly ( and I guess embarrassed) staff! In short, don't get fooled and stay as far away as possible from this bunch of cons!
