“Troglodyte heaven”

Loverly hotel perfectly situated in the heart of Tallinn. Not without it's idiosyncracies though! The rooms we had were deep in the bowels of the hotel and had no windows! No worries though they were clean warm and comfortable. All part of the experience! This is not a souless travelodge think faulty towers book in and enjoy the experience. We loved the hotel and Tallinn oh and best of all the superb hell hunt bar is just across the road

“Charming is not the way to describe Olevi - bad experience”

We had booked Olevi Residents months in advance, and the room was prepaid. We arrived at the hotel at 8 pm, and were given the “monk’s quarters” – a miniature room that another traveler mentioned in their review. After traveling from the United States that same day, I was not up for a claustrophobic experience should I wake up at night, so we asked if another room was available. After some negotiation, we were given a key to another room, which was also several floors below ground level, and only had a window to the hallway. My friend went to check the room, while I stayed at the reception area with our suitcases. After she told me it has a sauna, I got very excited. I wish I had not! The sauna oven was left on, and the temp in the room was 100 F (40 C), throughout the night! We were only able to sleep a couple of hours after we went to the reception area at 2 am and asked for a fan. I cooled myself down by cold water bottles that the refrigerator was barely able to cool down. The next day we were given another room, deeper down but somehow it had a window to a courtyard, so at least we got some fresh air into the room. The staff was impolie and did not in any way apologize for the inconvenience. The breakfast was sufficient, but identical on both mornings, and the location of the hotel is the only positive thing about it. On our second night we had dinner at the restaurant, and although we had a great meal at a very good price, the service left a lot to be desired.

“Some slight problems but recommended”

Our Room #24 had no windows to the outside, they opened onto a busy corridor used by other guests day and night to get to their rooms. As a result the room was very hot and stuffy even with the radiator off, and noisy throughout the night. To get to all rooms you must descend a spiral staircase (no lift) so no good if you are at all disabled or infirm. However, we got the room at a bargain offer under one third of the normal price. The Hotel was very close to the Market Square of the Old Town so verymconvenient. If you have to pay full price I would recommend you explore other hotels, but if a bargain is offered it is worth taking.

“Comfortable Olevi”

We had a great stay at Olevi. Lots of stairs and twists and turns, but rooms and bathrooms are very clean and comfortable and the breakfast buffet very nice. Mattresses perhaps too soft. Location in the Old City very convenient. Rooms on the top floor (up many flights) have nice rooftop views of Tallinn to the sea. Rooms with bathtubs a plus! Would recommend, and would return.

“Appearances Can Be Deceptive”

Chose the hotel because of excellent situation to the old town and an interesting website but that was about all. The room was small and pokey in the basement down what seemed like hundreds of stairs. There was no room for any luggage so in the end we put our bags on the window ledge. A reasonable bathroom with shower but no shower curtain, not concerned about modesty but just to stop anything you brought in with you getting wet. No where to put a typical tourists rubbish and we even came back one evening to find the room hadn't been serviced at all. The hotel advertised friendly reception staff but the for one we dealt with even a simple question was too much effort. We supposed it was too hard to break off from the internet, having to answer a question must have spoilt her game We grudgingly admit that Wi Fi was good. Food was a typical buffet of hot ( which weren't!)and cold items but bland and tasteless. Will never stay there again.

“Could do a lot worse!”

The hotel is in a great location and offers a good product. The unique rooms are a pleasure to stay in, however they need to do something about the heating. The room which did not have climate control was so hot we had to open the window to cool it down even though the temperature was below freezing. The service was fair but not exceptional. I would go back for the location and spacious rooms.

“Reasonably priced, serviceable place”

Housed in an historic building inside Tallinn's charming Old Town. Clean, quiet, comfortable rooms with the standard sort of European breakfast buffet you find all over the Continent. Unusual floor plan with corridors and staircases leading to the rooms. Convenient location and reasonably priced. Staff was helpful.
