“Tallin, worth a visit”

The hotel was good value for the money paid. It is ideally situated at the edge of the Old Town. 10 min walk to the port if you want to take a trip to Helsinki by fast ferry.

Area recommendations
Tallin Old Town is a good area to visit. It has cobbled streets so it is important to wear comfortable shoes. The Old Town is virtually traffic free. To get to the hotel by bus from the airport get a number 2 bus and get off at the Port. It is then about a 10 minute walk to the hotel.

“Rooms so small you could hardly turn around.”

Certainly not the highest quality. Rooms are so small we had to use the window sill to set our bags because not enough floor space to do so. Toilet seat broken. Bathroom so small you could barely turn around. Shower curtain discolored and moldy. Breakfast buffet okay but with few extra amenities. For example, no coffee cream, only milk. Not a big deal, but one of those small items which add together with others to give an overall impression, especially to travelers who experience many different hotel environments.

Old Town. The location of the hotel was excellent, and that is the reason I would recommend it to others. Beautiful, historic, exciting environment.

“return soon”

An extremely well placed hotel, built into the city wall. Convenient for all of the old town and tram stop for the rest of the city. Quiet area and hotel interior. Good value for money.

Area recommendations
the old town is full of interest - architectural, historical, edible, curious. Make sure too that you visit Kumu and also wander down to the shore near Linnahall.

“Tallinn in the snow and ice”

We arrived at the hotel which is built partly in to the old city wall, our room was very very small, however, it had a well fitted if tiny bathroom and comfortable bed. The room was spotless and was kept so by the hotel staff, with cleans towels everyday. I asked on the evening of our arrival for a plug, for the wash hand basin, however, this never arrived at all! - so take your own if you wish to have water in the basin. The buffet breakfast was of good quality. The area outside the main enterance to the hotel, had not been cleared of fallen snow and was as a consequence like a sheet of ice and very slippery. on this trip we flew Finnair from Manchester to Helsinki and changed to Fincomm for the oward leg to Tallinn both of which were faultless, at Tallinn we were met by a driver clearly displaying a board with our names on - all very efficient Overall our visit was enjoyable and in fact I will be returning with friends in December 2011 to this hotel. “Delightful Hotel”

The Meriton Old Town Hotel was a delight. I had read reviews that mentioned the (small) size of the rooms. I feared we would be in a cupboard. Wrong. OK - by no means spacious, but perfectly adequate and as well as being very comfortable it was spotlessly clean. The reception staff were very helpful. The buffet breakfast exceeded expectations - as it was included I assumed it would be minimal. Not so. Overall, this is a hotel in a nice quiet end of the old town but only minutes away from the bustle which is excellent, and is magnificent value for money.

Other
The 48 hour Tallinn Card is very good value for money. Not just for transport but for entrance to attractions that would otherwise cost a lot more.

“Very polite and professional staff”

A lovely hotel in the old town. Everything was great. The only mildly bothersome thing was that the "double" bed was actually two single beds pushed together, with sheets folded in half lengthwise like pita bread so you had to make yourself quite skinny while you slept! The breakfast was great, the staff were sweet and helpful. I would definitely go back.

“Wonderful hotel!”

Tallinn's Old Town is a gem of a place to begin with, and the Meriton Old Town only enhances the experience. This was my second stay here and will certainly plan on staying here again if the opportunity presents itself. The rooms are small (by American standards), but clean, orderly and have all you need. The breakfast (included in the cost of the room) is amazing-- don't skip it. :-) The staff are also extremely courteous and helpful. Also, if you come to Tallinn by ferry, it is a very inexpensive trip by taxi.

Traveller's tip
For dinner, don't miss the opportunity to eat at Olde Hansa! The decor, service, and-- above all-- the food is out of this world. It takes the whole "medieval experience" to a higher level. The singers also add to meal.

“Good Value for Money”

This hotel is in a great place in the Old Town, less than a 5 minute wander from the Town Hall Square and the other attractions but far enough away to provide peace and tranquility. The hotel is quirky with strange shaped rooms and the reception/cafe incorporates the old wall. It is not a luxury hotel by any means. Cheap and cheerful springs to mind. The twin beds we had were tiny and the bed clothes were not high quality. The shower however was fine and there was plenty of hot water. For a long weekend when you don't want to spend much money and don't plan to spend time in the room then this hotel is for you. The staff were very friendly and helpful particularly when we had trouble with a bus tour.

Traveller's tip
Beware when buying tickets for the City Bus Tour. We bought 5 24 hr tickets but did not look at them closely. When we did we found that only 3 tickets were valid and the other 2 had completely wrong dates and times on them. Other than that the bus tours are a great way of seeing the town. Give the botannical gardens a miss. Have a meal at Olde Hansa which is an experience all in itself.
