“Good base to explore Tallinn”

Don`t be put off by the Lego constuction, this is a well run, clean and friendly hotel, within a 5 minute walk of the centre of the old town. Tram stop about 100yards away if you prefer. Not a pretty view out of the back of the hotel, you could jump on to the railway track from the window [Don`t try this at home kids] but with very efficient double glazing I didn`t hear a thing. Had no need of the heating or air con, so cannot comment on efficiency. Very spacious and pleasantly quirky dining area above station platform.Hot and cold food in abundance at breakfast, though not much choice for the yohurt and fruit brigade. Plenty of room in bedroom and wet shower room worked efficiently.

Area recommendations
Old town and castle district has been very well preserved and is on a par with places like Prague and Budapest
Must see
KGB museum for light hearted but very interesting tour, museum of occupation and Paterei prison for more sobering aspects of life under the soviet system.

“Bargain in a great location.”

Literally a stone's throw from all there is to see in the Old Town. Not paradise, and it may not be ideal for couple's but the prices make it a bargain for a group of friends. Hotel was clean, staff were friendly, and generally cannot complain about anything.

“Location the key factor”

If you want a cheap reasonable hotel in a perfect location than this is for you. Supposedly in a " rough neighbourhood " according to other reviews - it simply isnt. It is a beautiful walk through the park to the old town which is a truly lovely place. The bathroom is pretty basic but how long do you spend in a room in a city as pretty as Tallinn? The breakfast is adequate, scrambled egg on toast everyday is fine by me!! In all seriousness if you are budget travellers like me and my fiance then book NOW, if you expect luxury and all the extras at this price then sit up get real. A great stay. The best way from the airport to hotel (and vice versa) is the airport shuttle, drops right outside train station for 2euros pp which is 50m from hotel. Enjoy

“for train spotters”

This hotel is easy to find and known to all the locals as it is at the main train station actually between platform and the road consequently you will hear the trains despite the double glazing especially the first arraivals of the day. Turn over and go back to sleep . The staff are very helpful but throughout Estonia you must ask for service as you will not be given the hard sell like in western Europe. They are all multi lingual as few travellers will speak Estonian and will find help if they personally do not understand. The hotel has guests from many countries around the world especially attracting train passengers. The included buffet breakfast is served in the connected building over the booking office and is influenced by russian style food ,differant but tastey . The location is an easy walk into the Old town but does attract an undesireable element on the park benches opposite The kiosks surrounding the transport interchange are very useful for snacks drinks etc and the russian market over the rail tracks sells pre owned goods that will suprise even the hardened traveller. In summarary this is an economic hotel but dont expect 5 star facilities

Area recommendations
The historic old town is the tourist hub of Tallin where you will spend most of your visit but seek out a trip into the surrounding countryside and forests for a differant insight to Estonia. The student run tourist infomation tent opposite the main tourist office is highly reccomended and funded by tips will give an alternative view to the area.

“Tallinn”

the hotel is right next to the train station, overlooking some of the platform. That said, the trains are not very noisy and noe appear to run overnight, so there was no problem regarding noise when sleeping. The location means its a 2-minute walk across the road to get to the old town, so very convenient from that point of view. The room was very basic, and therefore disappointing, especially when the staff are so polite and helpful. You get a bed, a bathroom and a TV. Never use a taxi from this hotel, or anywhere in Tallinn if you can avoid it, as the taxi drivers will rob you blind if they get a sniff that you are a tourist.

“Budget hotel”

Didn't find staff friendly. Very efficient, but lacking. Resturant staff, miserable, looked like they couldn't be bothered. Same breakfast everyday, No fresh, fruit, or yoghurt, Rooms very hot despite provision of fan and window being open 24/7. No tea/coffee making facilities. Room kept very clean and fresh towels daily. ideally situated for old town 10 minute walk, found Estonia expensive.

“Cheap but Loud”

The hotel staff was friendly, helpful, and the location to Old Town was really great! If someone wants a cheap stay next to the train station and short walk from Old Town, then this is a good place. Breadfast was included as well as internet access. The biggest drawbacks were: 1. the room was really small, but you get what you pay for (sufficient if you see hotels as only a place to sleep and fine for our purposes) 2. no fridge 3. being next to the train station means it is LOUD- we were tired out most nights and slept relatively well, but on the railside for our room meant being willing to listen to lots of train noise Would stay again if looking for cheap and convenient spot.

“Surprisingly good!”

Didn't really expect the hotel quality to be good for the price I paid, but I was very surprised. Had braced myself for an OK hotel in the dodgy part of town next to the station. How wrong I was! No frills room, but functional. Excellent location with great view up to the Old Town - 'train spotters' may be equally happy with view over station at the back of the hotel! Bus 90K from airport stops outside station, so convenient if travelling on a budget. Plenty of useful transport links from station, although to be honest everything in walking distance. Good quality breakfast (if somewhat limited choice) served until 11am at weekends ...so you can still get to lie in! Would happily stay there again.

Dining
We headed for Kohvik Moon at Vorgu 3 ...but it was closed. Ate instead at a bar a stones throw away next to the water (can't remember the name). Bar didn't have a menu and had choice of just two dishes - both were great. Cheapest meal we had all weekend. Friendly service.

“Top Spot”

Excellent location, good price to value ratio. Breakfast was good, room was clean and tidy. Hotel staff were friendly. Room was a very hot without air conditioning however. Apart from this it was a good experience.
