“Handy Location & Good Service”
Great Location, hotel only 2mins walk from Jiantan Metro station. Room was a little small but very adequate, clean and a nice bathroom. Very quiet even though it is near to the metro and night market. Superb breakfast (included) with lots of variety - recommend the omelet and custard steam buns. Bottles of water included in the room. Staff had good english and the habit of bowing every time they saw you. Stayed two nights. Great value for the money.
“Taipai Grandee Hotel”
A very modern hotel with rooms ranging from modest to sizeable. Rooms were clean and maintained well. It is located in the middle of the Night Market (just across the street), yet I never heard the sounds of the market. Felt very safe and the staff were extremely helpful assisting in getting me booked on a tour to heading to the high speed train. It was very close to the National Palace Museum, about a mile by walking or you can take the S30 bus that delivers one to the main entrance to the National Palace Museum.
“A good yet small business hotel at the outskirt of Taipei, Taiwan”
A good yet small business hotel at the outskirt of Taipei, Taiwan, within walking distance from Jian Tan stattion of Taipei Metropolitan Rapid Transportation, and within walking distance from Shih Lin Night Market. The hotel is clean and comfortable.
“For the price there are better options in Taipei...”
Although the location is interesting, for the price you can get a better hotel, with more services that is a cheap taxi ride away from the same night market. Try the Imperial!
“Excellent, well located, and very reasonably priced”
The food (breakfast) is excellent! The people/staff are very nice. The location is just perfect: by the metro station, right across the street from the open market, etc... And the price was just right. Not to mention, of course, the cleanliness, the comfort of the room, cable TV (with a couple of channels in English), and everything else. VERY good indeed!!
“A pleasant surprise”
I am strongly impressed with Grandee Taipei hotel. My room has a small and well-designed antechamber, very tasteful decoration, a spacious working area, a nice lounge chair, and a 5-star bathroom. The standards of cleaniness are very high. Although the hotel is located near a subway line, 2 busy roads, the popular Shih-Lin night market, and my room is on the second floor, I did not hear any noise inside, The only drawback is that the view from the hotel room is not the greatest one. But the inside and the superb services make up for this. I will stay at this hotel again in my future visits to Taipei.
“Buyer Beware!”
Buyer, beware of reviews! I booked this hotel based on the reviews and the 5.0 ratings on this site. And while it is good value for the money and the breakfast buffet is definitely adequeate, it is by no means a 4 Star hotel. If you are on a budget, it is not important to be in the heart of the city or require or expect basic hotel amenities like room service, concierge assistance etc. this is an OK hotel. What you can expect is a pretty basic room several subway stops from the heart of the city. As far as cleanliness is concerned, the bathroom was clean and modern but the carpet was dirty and tired and I found what looked to be blood stains on the duvet cover in the morning. Do not be fooled by the reviews thinking this is anything more than a 3 Star hotel. I booked 3 non-refundable nights and checked out after the 1st night to move closer to the city and to a REAL 4 Star hotel (the Regent Formosa). I was leary from the time I booked this hotel and should have trusted my instincts. As the saying goes, you get what you pay for. On a positive note, pay the extra to get a balcony. It is only $10 or $20 more a night and is really a very spacious terrace. As far as the comments regarding the noise from the Night Market, I did not exerience that. The windows are very sound proof and if you enjoy an eclectic neighbourhood, you'll enjoy it. Ensure you bring the address and phone number as your driver will likely need to call to find it (as mine did). The front door is hard to find.
“A real gem, across from the Night Market”
The Grandee Taipei fulfilled any hopes we had for our stay in Taipei. The hotel's design is fun and sharp, and the room decor was equally pleasant. The staff is extremely helpful. Location is across the street from the Night Market, which is where we wanted to be after dark for the 4 nights we were visiting. The breakfast buffet caters to Eastern and Western tastes with very good offerings and an attentive staff. My wife and I were thoroughly impressed. If/when we visit Taipei in the future, we wouldn't think of looking at any other accommodations.
“Great Hotel close to Shilin Night Market”
New, clean, comfortable hotel. The free buffet breakfast was excellent. English speaking staff. The only negative was the fact that the hotel was a little hard to see from the road. Highly recommended.
“Taipei's Hidden Secret”
My husband and I have been coming to Taipei for business for the last 10 years. Located right at Taipei's famous Shilin Night Market (starts from 4pm-late), our arrival at night was complicated due to the market traffic, as we missed the entrance to the hotel. Our car went in a lift (this was interesting) which took us to the basement car park Definitely describe the Grandee as a Luxury Boutique Hotel. Taipei hotels have "no smoking" rooms, and smoking rooms just like at the airport, but we were fortunate to have a great size open balcony (would be perfect for a jacuzzi) that overlooked the Shilin Market. The room was surprisingly quiet - even compared to high some high rise hotels. Our room was tidy, the bed very comfortable, but the carpets were very dirty. The en suite contained the same condiments a 5 star hotel would provide...and there was always 4 bottles of water. We could not fault the hotel staff. They were very welcoming, courteous and you were made to feel at home. Both of us enjoyed our breakfast...try the "real" strawberry jam and the massive omelets. If you want cow's milk in your tea/coffee use the one where the cereals are located. If you want a large cup, use the double-handed small bowls. Will we stay at the Grandee again....YES!
