Not as advertised

Posted 14-Aug-2014
The room was a king and sofa bed but the sofa bed was only big enough for one person. When I booked the room I imputed 4 people and this is what was recommended.

Nice hotel close to the city attractions

Posted 12-Aug-2014
Great room for the price, very clean and you and your guests get a very nice breakfast for free in the morning. Can't beat that!! My only complaint is the comfort of the beds is not the best but overall a great nights sleep.

Pros: The staff and quietness.
Cons: Upgrade gym equipment
Location: You don't need a car. The light rail and buses are great for getting around Tacoma. Tacoma has fabulous museums, botanical gardens and a shoreline.
Wonderful time meeting new people. XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Pros: Plenty of parking.
Cons: They should replace their old carpet.
Location: Not much to do and the restaurants were close early.
The carpet in the room was old and feel like it's dirty.

Scent-free hotel

Posted 07-Aug-2014
Pros: Friendly front desk staff Good housekeeping staff No perfumed cleaners used Quiet fridge in the room Close to public transportation
Cons: Hot water is not adequate when hotel is full Internet is a disaster -- it's not adequate, even when the hotel is not fully booked
Location: Close to local public transportation (Tacoma Link) Close to the bus for Seattle Tacoma Art Museum Museum of Glass (a disappointment)
The first thing I noticed in the room was -- no heavy perfume. It's amazing...the room has no smell, yet it's clean (I think many hotels / people equate heavy perfume with clean. I associate it with "instant headache".) The front desk staff was extremely helpful, printing out a bus schedule and having someone come up and show me how to turn on the lamps (it always helps to turn the knobs in the proper direction). Although the vent in the bathroom runs 24/7, I didn't notice it once I closed the door. When the hotel if full, you can forget hot water for showering in the morning. Also, the breakfast area becomes totally confused. This is not necessarily the hotel's fault, though somehow the traffic pattern in the breakfast area is not very efficient when 50 people are milling around at once. The Internet is a disaster. It's super-low-speed, and the more people in the hotel and using it, the slower it gets (if that's even possible). I called the front desk an average of twice each evening to have whatever rebooted.

Worst Hotel Experience EVER!!!

Posted 31-Jul-2014
Pros: Absolutely nothing. It was an awful experience I hope to never repeat.
Cons: New management, a fundamental change in the attitude of the staff.
Location: I stayed here to take a two day exam at the Tacoma convention center. I did not see the city.
So, I am a law school graduate who needed accommodations in Tacoma while I took the Washington State Bar Exam. I arrived a few hours early on Monday and when I inquired about a possible early check-in I was rudely told I would need to return at 3pm. After returning and trying to check-in, I was told I did not have a reservation. It wasn't until I produced a printed off copy of my receipt that they decided I did in fact have a room there. I stayed here from Monday night until Wed morning - and I did not get a hot shower until 4am the morning I departed. That means, I took the bar exam having not had a hot shower the night before, or the morning of taking the test. Moreover, when I telephoned the front desk to provide a wake-up call. No one ever called. At no point was any effort made to apologize for this, I was simply told my room was not listed for a wake up call. No attempt to make up any of this was made and when I inquired - the man at the front desk (long hair) simply turned his head and ignored me, while clicking on the computer screen at the front desk. (YES HE JUST STOOD THERE IGNORING ME). This was a time I needed complete relaxation and a few simple amenities. I did not receive anything but attitude and rudeness. In summary, rude staff, no hot water, poor internet speed, and if you request a wake-up call, you need to also set your alarm; because they will not call you.
