“Old City charm”

We had been a little concerned about the quality of accommodation in Alla Guidecca. It was advertised as an apartment and showed very few pictures. However the accommodation itself was great - two bedrooms, a living/dining room with kitchenette plus a good bathroom. Not to mention a roof terrace. The hotel also had a spacious dining area for breakfast . It probably wouldn't suit people who prefer a place that has power showers, etc. as opposed to character, which it definitely had! Ortiga is a nice old town to relax and wander - difficult to match elsewhere in Sicily. That said it probably wouldn't suit those wanting to pack lots into their holiday. It's a good base for trips to Etna, Taormnina, and other towns such as Noto (we were fortunate to catch the flower festival) but these become all-day affairs if taking public transport and because of Ortiga's location. As for public transport - the buses are the simplest and are reliable. Get a AST or Intercity bus from the airport to Syracuse then the free No. 20 to Ortiga.

“Not impressed”

Had high expectations but this place did not meet them. Not really a hotel more like an apartment/room. Our bathroom smelt horrible and room was fairly basic. Some other rooms looked quite nice though. Breakfast was nice and staff helpful but generally quite an odd place. You have to pay to see the attraction within the hotel! Syracuse also not what it was made out to be, very pleasant but dull! Not much happening there are much nicer places to see in Sicily.

Traveller's tip
If your are travelling around Sicily don't go out of your way to get to Syracuse, spend more time in Taormina, Agrigento and the north coast. Far more interesting and beautiful.

“a go-back-to hotel”

We loved the hotel. Near the water in Ortigia. Interesting building on its own. Big room, comfy for 3 or 4. Breakfast a bit boring, never changed. But the torte del giorno, homemade cake each day, was delicious. Staff helpful, calling us on drive from airport to give directions. Staff recommendations for dinner were hit or miss. Would definitely go back there next visit.

Traveller's tip
Get lost on Ortigia. Like Venice, can't get too lost. Siesta is longer than mainland Italy, everything closes. Eat lunch early or miss out altogether. Town is diamond in the rough. Worth another visit most certainly.

“Hôtel Alla Giudecca, Ortigia, Syracuse”

hôtel très bien situé dans le quartier historique de Syracuse, Ortigia. L'immeuble est une très ancienne demeure bien restaurée. Les chambres ont été bien aménagées dans les anciennes structures. Petit-déjeûner correct. Accueil un peu guindé avec fermeture en début d'après-midi. Mais les hôtes ont chacun leur clé.

“al centro di Ortigia”

Ottima posizione al centro di Ortigia. Hotel sicuramente molto caretteristico ideale per chi cerca qualcosa di diverso dalle solite stanze di albergo. Qualche confort in più nel bagno non guasterebbe ma...considerando il contesto in cui si trova l'albergo, si può chiudere anche un occhio. Consigliato

“Alla Giudecca,in piena isola di Ortigia,il vero centro di Siracusa.”

Ho già riportato le mie impressioni nel commento iniziale,quindi non posso che ripetermi.Aggiungendo che la posizione dll'albergo essendo nel centro storico,vero cuore pulsante della città,è quanto di meglio e comodo si possa trovare.Per cui partendo dall'albergo,anche per chi ha poco tempo,in una giornata si può vedere quello che c'è da non perdere,dal Duomo,alle varie chiese,vie,al mercato mattutino,impagabile.E poi resta il tempo per vedere il parco Archeologico di Siracusa,ma la modernità ne ha un pò offuscato lo splendore,lo ricordavo più affascinante,e l'interessante castello di Eurialo.Ortigia poi è un ottimo punto di partenza per escursioni culturali come il barocco a Noto,Modica,Ragusa,oppure paesaggistiche come la riserva naturale di Vendicari ed il paesino sul mare di Marzemeni,comprensivo dell'unico ristorante/pizzeria esistente,con vista sul piccolo porto,veramente eccellente,vicino a capo Passero.

Ho già scritto. Tutta Ortigia per la sua bellezza ed il fascino che emana.Anche se i lavori sono in corso,penso che lo stato di degrado stia gradualmente sparendo,lasciando posto solo alle bellezze della città.

Senz'altro nel campo alimentare,dalle conserve,ai prodotti ittici e naturalmente quelli dolciari,vere specialità della zona.
Dining
Ortigia è piena di trattorie meravigliose,dove si mangia bene con prezzi molto onesti.Lascerei perdere quei pochi locali rinomati,su guide specializzate inn.che si fanno pagare la pubblicità che fanno.

“Atmosfera unica!!!”

Hotel straordinario! Proprio nel cuore dell'Ortigia, questo hotel offre un'atmosfera ricercata e romantica. Non ha stanze individuali, ma veri e propri APPARTAMENTI, che offrono una calda atmosfera domestica, piuttosto che la fredda e impersonale atmosfera d'albergo. Curatissimi i dettagli delle sale relax e sale colazione. Imperdibile la visita al Bagno Ebraico nei sotteranei dell'albergo. Unica pecca la mancanza di parcheggio e quindi la difficoltà del carico e scarico bagagli. Ma l'atmosfera unica di questo posto ne compensa il disagio!

A distanza pedonale dall'albergo, imperdibile il MastraRua con i suoi ravioli al nero di seppia e il suo filetto al nero d'avola.... Abbiamo ancora l'acquolina al solo pensiero!
