Pros: The lobby was beautiful and large.
Cons: Parking.
Our only problems were small room for a king size bed, no refridge and breakfast otherwise treated with kindness and respect, would use it again.

Nice Middle class hotel with rude GM

Posted 19-Nov-2014
I ve stayed at this hotel for about 2 wks on and off . Off due to the fact that some wk days just become over the top expensive prices such as 180 $ are totally unjustified for the miniature rooms . The 119 on the wkends is completely ok . Their policies change all the time at discretion of the GM . One day they accept credit authorisation the next they don't . The staff is under the merciless supervision of the GM . Today I was told I would only be allowed to make my reservations there through Expedia . They couldn't exactely explain why apart from that that was due to the fact that I extended my stay twice for a day , the hotel doesn't take daily extensions another thing I was told the total opposite of last wk . My husband past away 3 wks ago so this has forced me into hotels and lots of cash payments due to stayed bank accounts . This hotel lives on the fact that it's the only decent one in the area . It doesnt even feature a pool or proper gym rather a tiny exercise room that reminds much of what motels offer. I say unless it's a wkend and you don't care that the rooms are the smallest I ve ever seen & no room service especially during the wk spend those extra 20 $ and go to the brand name Marriott or Hilton the price difference is marginal during the wk even the Hilton garden inn is by far nicer . Try and avoid this rude hotel with the miniature rooms the nasty GM ( who sets the tone )and the zero amenities ( pool proper gym etc) not worth it .

Dear CTravels, Rates for any hotel are based on how busy a hotel is and where the y are located. For the most part our hotel is a business hotel and therefore we are more expensive during the week and on days where we sell out. I can understand that it is confusing on accepting a change to a policy once then not doing it again , we do our best to bend the "rules" when we can to accomodate a guest's needs, however when it involves credit and the exposure for the hotel is too great, then we simply have to say no and I certainly apologize if at any time you felt that I was at all rude

Nice but overpriced during the wk

Posted 19-Nov-2014
This is a nice middle class hotel . Due to the lack of similar girls in the area it tends to be way overpriced during the wk though. Very close to s higher end hotel such as the huntington hilton or Melville Marriott , the Hilton will sell for 199$ and up like wise the Marriott the Fairfield can not match these hotels in any way amenity wise or even comparing the rooms . I stayed in a tiny room , bathroom slightly bigger for what ended up to be 164 $the breakfast is ok but no where close to what the Hilton or Marriott have to offer this Fairfield has no pool a gym so small it s hardly to be considered a gym . Further the GM is very snappy and unfriendly it appears she changes the rools like her moods , the General staff is very friendly but very clearly under the pressure of the GM . I will look very closely at the prices next time when I can stay in a high end hotel for as little as 199 decent sized room differently from the queen I stayed last which was just tiny and didn't even have a refrigerator . The wkend offers more appropriate prices at 119 $ that s what it's worth I wouldn't pay more again . Then take a step up add 20/30 $ and stay in a really nice hotel which the Fairfield is not its ok , clean but it worth 119$ no more .

Undergoing renovations

Posted 22-Sep-2014
Pros: Breakfast included
Cons: Very small parking area and the hotel was sold out. You were allowed to park in a mechanic's garage lot but then you had to move your car out by 9.
Location: It's not as close to Hofstra as it makes it sound. Somewhat of a ride.
I don't like being surprised, so I was less than thrilled to find the hotel undergoing renovations. Our floor was in various stages of being painted with plaster ground into the carpet and kicked up along the edges of the walls. Once inside the room was clean, as was the bathroom. Smallish but we were not planning on being inside the room as we were in the area for a parent's weekend.

Thank you for your review, we appreciate our guest’s perspective both positive and negative. We apologize your stay was during our renovation process, but we are pleased to announce by the end of this week we should be done. I'm not sure if you are aware there are actually three parking lots for the hotel one directly in front and one directly behind and the last we added last year is about 200 yards in the building behind the hotel. Between the three we should have ample parking for every room. Thank you so much for your comments on our clean rooms, we work very hard to keep our hotel clean, fresh and to the highest quality standards. We hope to see you on your next trip to Syosset!

First and Last time at the Fairfield

Posted 26-Aug-2014 on Hotels.com
I thought my stay was horribble the customer service was horrible the lady didn't even seem like she wanted to work that night. My bf and I went in thinking it was a nice hotel we looked in and was shock. The hotel should have clearly stated that they were renovating because the appearance was horrible. The room was small and didn't have the best smell I was so upset that I canceled the next day stay we couldn't stay there for two nights. i would never recommned this place to anyone first and last time.

Dear A Traveler We are so disappointed to hear that you did not like the hotel. I was extremely surprised to hear of your comments regarding the staff member who checked you in. This is not the service the hotel is noted for and I apologize this was your experience. We are under renovation and we will soon have brand new hotels rooms and updated hallways. While this renovation is not a noisy one, we understand the appearance is not what our guests are used to. The renovation should be complete on the floors by mid-September. I can only hope that you will try us again when we are finished. Again our apologies that you were not happy with your stay.
